The Blue Fish - Bayou
Good place for a pre theater event. Quality sushi, attentive service and a nice atmosphere made this an experience we will repeat again
Food and martinis were good. The waiter was pleasant and appeared desirous to please, but he was a very poor listener. As a result, he confused many details and was not responsive to dimple requests. Perhaps he was just inexperienced.
Great place to go before a show! Great food and drinks!
Guy was rude when we first arrived. He seemed like he didn't want to be there. When someone has a crappy attitude, maybe don't make them the host.
The food is always consistently good and the service tonight was quicker and better than usual.
Great food, we have been going here for yrs and are on the loyalty program. The perks have gone down with that however, it used to include a credit for some of the valet parking ( no more). Also, the prices on the sushi rolls keep going up but the size of the rolls seems to be shrinking?? The Rainforest is our favorite, It used to be thick and loaded with great ingredients; with plenty of great sauce. Now it's a bit skimpy and barely any sauce, but the price keeps going up. I am on a special diet (basically no carbs) so I had the tuna salad $22.00, NEVER AGAIN! it was barely 1 cup of uninteresting greens and 4 thin slices of seared Tuna on top, I felt robbed!!. I had just the side salad $8.00 another time, and it had more greens and it had a variety of greens, pecans, then just ordered the South Beach roll at $13.95, much better value! We have been coming to the theater district for 32 yrs straight with season tickets to Alley, Ballet, Opera and Jones Hall, you have been out GO TO place for years. Please don't make us change our minds!
If you like good sushi, stay away from this place. The quality and cut of the fish is very bad. The ventilation is also bad. You smell like grease when you leave. If you live in Houston and want good sushi, go to Soma Sushi on Washington.
There is a great variety of food, also vegan options, great drinks, food tastes great. Was perfect for a date night.
Love going to this location before or after an event in the Theater District. They have upped their game in the last year or so. Could improve their wine selection with the addition of more interesting varieties.
I really enjoy THE BLUE FISH. The sushi is always fresh, and everything else is consistently good. I normally come here before a show in the theater district - if you plan on that, make a reservation! But I also love to come and take a long dinner with sushi rolls, appetizers and wine flowing. You can sit in or outside, and if you opt for the bar they have a great happy hour. Service has always been very attentive. This place is great!
Efficient service and food was good. Great for a quick business lunch
The service was terrible. I can't imagine what it would have been like had I not made reservations and if it would have been busy.
Our server was courteous and pleasant
A favorite for dinner before or after the theater.
The food here and the presentation is always on point.
Unfortuantely, we arrived late for the reservation, and the restaurant was closing. This is disappointing because I had written in my reservation that we may be late, but I never received a response or warning that the restaurant would soon close after the reservation. I wish there were a better way to correspond with the restaurant when making the reservation in order to assure the hours of operation of the restaurant.
We came for my husbands birthday. When we arrived there was a table of 2 and a group of 3-4 sitting in the bar area. We sat down immediately. Server came over about 10 minutes after we were seated. We ordered our drinks and it took another 15 minutes to get them. The food was mediocre. Nothing great. A party of 2 came in and sat right behind us and after receiving their food one of the men pointed out a long hair in his food. After letting another employee know the server came over about 5 minutes later, took the plate, apologized and that was it. Asked us if we wanted dessert. Which wasn’t happening. I thought it was kind of dirty when we walked in and the hair secured my thought.
The food we had was fabulous! The spicy tuna is a very good level of spicy. We’ve had it other places and was never as spicy. We had it in several different rolls and the spicy tuna tartare tacos. Awesome! The girls went back for desert later that night and said that was amazing too.
Great service, awesome location. we had a great time and fantastic server. We just love this place when we have events at the Wortham, Revention, or other venue in walking distance
Tropical salmon and Sushi Trio sampler were very good. The chicken terriyake was disappointing as the chicken was not very tender. There are many additional dishes to try and we will go back and give it another try.
Never been disappointed here
Good service decent food and we had a good time. Felt a little dressy when we went but was a great dinner.
The food was absolutely amazing!! Our waiter was so fun. We will definitely return
Seated for ten minutes before being offered drinks. Service after that was acceptable. Food in this location is better than Washington Ave. A good meal for a fair price.
All together a good experience. Quick service with quality food. A few hiccups with the order of things coming out like our sushi arriving before our cocktails and miso soup coming mid-meal. Experienced in getting diners their food in a timely manner as it is quite clear a lot of patrons are attending shows in the vicinity.
I thought at first the Lobster Roll was pricey..until I had it. Worth it!
My wife and I grabbed dinner here before an event at Jones hall. Excellent Meal, we will return.
Disappointing visit, too much mayonnaise in the crab , for the first time left sushi untouched. Maybe chose the wrong dishes but will not return
Great outdoor seating, excellent service and amazing food options. We had a great time and delicious experience. I would highly recommend
Food was good. Place was not crowded so not sure why service was slow.
The food was delicious, however the service was not good. The waiter kept disappearing for 10 - 15 minutes (the restaurant was not busy) and we waited at least 20 minutes for the bill. One of our party actually had to get the manager so she could get her.credit card back.
While the food was outstanding the service was not. It was our first time at this restaurant and we were disappointed in the service after reading such great reviews. The manager did not smile or stop by anyone’s table to check on them. Our server was not attentive and we had to flag him down to order our meal our drink order and for our check. The restaurant was not busy yet management and the servers were not readily available for the customers.
I will admit that Blue Fish is a bit pricey for my budget, but it was a nice splurge for me and my mother. The food was excellent. The server was friendly and attentive. And while I will not be able to make it a regular haunt, I do hope I can return in the future when I have a little extra wiggle-room in my budget.
I would go to this restaurant on a weekday. Too busy, crowded and was sat by the door that let in very cold air. The staff going in and out left the door open. We were told we would have and hour wait to get sushi even though we had a reservation. We ended up getting appetizers which were delicious.
It’s always nice at the Blue Fish.
We had a party of three with a reservation and were seated promptly upon arrival. However, that is where the positives stopped. It took an extended period of time to be approached by a waiter. Due the extensive wait time, we were more than well prepared to order drinks, appetizers, and meals. Once we had our drinks, we settled in to conversation and began to enjoy our time. About 15 minutes later, our appetizer was delivered. About 10 minutes later a meal (a large salad with chicken) was delivered to one member of our party. About 5 minutes after that, another meal was delivered to another member of our party. It took nearly another 15 minutes for the final meal to arrive to our third member of the party. The food was mediocre but priced for higher quality fare. The fact that the meals were not delivered together defeated the purpose of us all eating a meal together and was a significant dissatisfier. The restaurant clearly needs assistance in the Expeditor position and better training for its waitstaff. The bottom line is a clear evidence of poor leadership and management which is reflected in the lack of customer service and average quality of the meals. We have no intention of returning. To the management of the restaurant: Do better; Be better.
Server was excellent! Friendly and attentive even though he had a large, busy area to cover
Convenient location if you’re going to see a show at Revention. However the raw fish lacks flavor and the sushi rolls are mainly filler (I.e. cream cheese, avocado, fake krav)
Crazy loud in there
The food was not bad but it wasn’t great either. Us girls were very disappointed in our drink orders. None of the cocktails that we order had any garnishes in them ... for example the watermelon basil was pretty water down and came with no basil, the passion fruit mule was not garnished and the spicy mango was nowhere near spicy but yet it was very, very sweet. So next time we’re looking to find a place to have a quick bite before the show, we’re going to have to look elsewhere. Sorry!
Staff was overwhelmed by the crowd on a Wednesday.
Poor service. Forgot about is completely. Don’t bother.
