Used to be our favorite Mexican restaurant sinceI was a kid, but has steadily gone down hill last 5 or 6 years in terms of food quality.
How perfect to lunch at Blue Bonnet before enjoying American Mariachi at the DCPA. Two of my favorites - great Mexican food and theater! The food was delicious, especially the Brunch Pork Posole Stew and Crispy Relleno. Unfortunately, the Crispy Taco's shell stopped being crispy ... it became soggy. Over all though, a beautiful afternoon! It was also nice being able to make a reservation on line - very easy!
Great Service. Food was not good.
We usually love the Blue Bonnet, but this time our food was bland and the service was just okay. They also no longer have vegetarian tamales which were one of our favorites. The menu has changed and the prices have increased.
The restaurant was dirty. Floors looked absolutely filthy. The food came out quickly but was lukewarm and mediocre at best. Our server was nice. Just expect more from a Denver landmark.
Cant recommend this over any other Mexican restaurant in debcer.
awesome gluten free options and great service! love the liters of margs and the stuffed veggie poblanos are amazing!
Went there before an event with friends. Everyone had a good meal. Nothing was exceptional and only one comment was made that he chili relleno was not completely cooked through. Great pomegranate margarita!
I took my adult daughter for dinner and we both loved the food. It's highly ranked every year on Open Table so we tried it. The chips tasted like they made at the restaurant and the salsa had a nice amount of heat, but not too hot.
I ordered the smothered burrito, which is one of its specialties. I would happily order it again. My daughter ordered enchiladas that she said were delicious. They have outdoor seating if that's your thing. The ambiance was not special, but our waiter was friendly and likable.
The bottom line: I look forward to returning.
It's been around for a very long time, so that tells you something! Delicious food, and my coconut margarita was sooo good, and creative!!
Great, friendly service in a delightful setting. The food was just a tad too spicy for my Kansas City visitors, but just right gor a Colorado (almost) native.
The food was pretty good, our waiter was very nice and everything came out of the kitchen timely. My biggest complaint is the table wasn't wiped down well, and 4 out of the 5 chairs were covered in chips. This is a training issue...chairs should be cleaned as well as tables. Under the table was not too clean either. Don't know if I'd go back.
Everything was amazing!!! I recommend if you want an adult beverage to try the mimosa flight or one of their many Bloody Mary's.
Used to live in Denver and went to The Blue Bonnet now and then. ALWAYS had their crispy chile rellenos, just fantastic. We moved away from Denver about five years ago, but had to go back last week for a short visit. Went back to Blue Bonnet, had the crispy chile rellenos, and they were just as good as we remembered. And the Perfect Margarita was fantastic, too.
Wait staff and food were awesome. Waiter let us sit and visit, did not try to rush us out on a Saturday night. Food was DELISH!!!!!
Always excellent food. Great taste at reasonable prices.
The carne asada burrito doesn't have a lot of meat in it.
Staff is very attentive.
Beat food around , love your skirt steak!! The crispy chili relenos are my favorite
Excellent food, have not been there in a few years. Perfect meeting place for friends and family. We had a great time and a nice roomy table set up for 5. Plenty of chips and salsa and wonderful guacamole and queso
Always excellent. The guac might be the best anywhere. And those home made chips ... delish!
Always loved the Blue Bonnet, one of my favorite places in Denver to get some good Mexican food. I can never pass up their smothered burrito.
They did not seem to care about the reservation I made and we waited 30 minutes past the reservation time. They seemed annoyed I booked on OpenTable. They blamed the app despite seating parties the same size that did not have reservations.
Great service for group family birthday
This place is great! It is a Denver original. The chorizo burrito is EPIC!
Blue Bonnet never disappoints. Good food, great drinks. Best fun Mexican food in Denver
The food and service were SPOT ON! We were seated and served with minutes and the quality of the food was great!
This restaurant did an excellent job of taking care of large groups on "Dining Out for Life" during the dinner hour. Everyone had drinks, chips (even gluten-free), and salsa immediately after being seated and then diner orders were taken in a timely manner AND there were no mix-ups in serving a party of 11. The food was generous and gluten-free items were served with everyone else with no waiting by anyone. Individual tickets were given, with no mix-up on orders, and change or charges were promptly given to everyone.
We had a nice time and the food is always great and they are always willing to make adjustments for dietary needs. Waitress was a bit forgetful however very nice and apologetic when she was. Lighting was very dim and difficult to read the side of the menu that was black with colored lettering. Great prices!!
Food was okay. Nothing spectacular.
Great birthday celebration! With special birthday dessert!
The margaritas were not good, we were seated at a fold out 6 foot table, the salsa was sweet and the fish tacos looked too much like chicken. The food was in no way worth the price we paid, the service wasn't good and we will not be going back.
Blue Bonnet has been a staple of the Denver restaurant scene for decades. Their formula is consistent, and it works: decent Tex-Mex at a reasonable price, good service, and a just-plain-folks atmosphere with a hopping bar scene. Service is generally good, as it was on my most recent visit.
I've been a fan for a long time, even though I don't make it in as much as I used to. It's still a destination for me if I know I'll be in south Denver.
The food was not up to par with the price. Quality and amount offered.
Been going to Blue Bonnet for over 30 years and its my place in Denver for dinner and Margs. Is it a 5 star restaurant...no....just loosen your tie, relax and have a good time.
I have been going to Blue Bonnet since moving to Denver in 1984. It's our 'go to' for meeting with friends. Love the Chimicanga, great beer and atmosphere.
Food was ok but not great. All 4 of us agreed the food was just ok. Waitstaff was good. Margarita were not the best that I have tasted especially for 6.00. Will not go there again.
Love "the Bonnet". They have been a family favorite for many years!!
Always reliable, basic Mexican, tasty go-to reasonably priced restaurant.
The food was excellent and the service was very good. We sat in what probably used to be an outdoor area. The ambience was not the greatest and the chairs were very hard fiberglass type so it was not very comfortable seating.
Great Mexican food - one of the very few places with gluten free alternatives that are really good! Everyone thought their meal was great and the service was excellent. Would definitely take the family there again.
