All four in my party thought our meals were delicious.
I recommend the steak chimichanga to my friend since the is the only item I've ordered in the lat 25 years going to the Bonnet. My friend loved it and wants to return on his next visit. I would tell you that the mild red salsa is different-I've been used to more of the chip dipping salsa served at the table but the red sauce served with the chimi was more tomato-like and not so appealing to me....my friend liked it though....
I found the food to be average. Nothing special. My pork tamale was very good. My cheese enchilada was not, the texture of the tortilla was wrong, like paper somehow. The cheese enchilada had ad a red sauce on it that was very plain.
Our waitress was outstanding. Save yourself and do not order the shrimp cocktail you can do much better for the price someplace else. The ceviche was different but good.
Really really hot. Not sure that the air conditioner was on.
Food used to be more authentic, rice dried out, cheese not fully melted, chicken in burrito had no seasoning, sauces kinda bland. Only chille relleno and guac tostada like i remember, but if the sauces you smother with it affects everything. Green chile not good at all. Oh well the memories are good! 😢
We took friends to the Blue Bonnet who had never eaten there before and they were as pleased with the food and service as we have been. Love the food and atmosphere!
The Bluebonnet never disappoints. We stopped in for a quick bite, thinking that we'd split an entree because neither of us was really hungry. But how do you peruse the menu without finding more than one temptation? We both opted to order full entrees -- veggie tacos and an amazing mango chicken salad that I'm still thinking about.
There Queso is delicious! I love the decor and the customer service was superior!
Solid Mexican fare. Food was very good, not extraordinary, but I would go here again if I was in the area. Perfect Margarita was really good. I liked that they served refried beans with the chips and salsa, though the chips seemed to be taco shells that they broke in half and didn't have a lot of flavor. Had the combo plate with a smothered carnitas burrito, chicken enchilada and crispy relleno. All were good, carnitas was the best part of it, nice big chunks of pork. Green chili was so-so, no heat. Sat in the bar area, was clean and fun atmosphere. Service was very good and friendly. One small thing: the silverware is flimsy. Could hardly cut through the crispy relleno with the fork. Maybe invest in some sturdier silverware?
Tammy our server was wonderful. We showed up for our reservation with three extra people but everyone was awesome about it. Good food, good price!
The food was tasty and had plenty left over for a tasty supper. Service was very quick, polite, friendly. Hadn't been there in decades, so was pleasantly surprised overall.
My girlfriend took my kids and I out for my birthday. The service was exceptional. The food was solid as ever. A great casual spot.
First time diner that needs a gluten free meal. I’m
Celiac. The Blue Bonnet was very careful with my meal. I brought a lovely lady and her children to eat there. Our table was set up in
Advance with kids menus, drinks and gluten free chips & salsa already in place when we arrived. Excellent service. I highly recommend the Blue Bonnet Cafe!
Con: The margaritas were weak...
Pro: Love the gluten free options and how knowledgeable the staff is concerning GF options.
Always fun and good food👍
Went for Mother’s Day. It’s hard to find authentic Mexican food in Denver. While better than others, still was lacking in authenticity. Don’t get me wrong, the food was very good. And my mom was pleased. Margaritas were best thing that night.
Had Mother’s Day dinner with my family. The restaurant has been a family favorite for a very long time. We always enjoy our experiences and the food!!
Why not have a Sunday brunch ? My meal was very good but the Saturday brunch burrito was excellent, but not available.
Staff is friendly, efficient and fast! Food is always great.
Food has gone down in quality. Service is good though.
Food was oddly bland - all the components of tasty food were there but there was no flavor. Chips were served cold which was disappointing.
Been coming here for 30 years, one of my faves. Food is always good and their table salsa is the best. Great for after a movie, ballgame, zoo or museum. Informal and kid friendly.
We had a 7:00 reservation and arrived at 6:55pm. We checked in at the hosted desk only to be scolded by the host that our reservation was a “half hour ago!” I was shocked to be greeted this way, especially since I had an email to prove that our reservation was at 7:00pm not 6:30pm - and I offered to show the email as evidence. The host was not interested in seeing the email - just kept saying that it was in the computer for 6:30pm. We won’t return to dine at Blue Bonnet, even though we have gone there for years. There are too many choices in Denver to be treated so rudely and not even be offered an apology!
We arrived 15 minutes prior to our reservation and our table was ready and waiting. Great service, great food and drinks.
Margarita flights are awesome. Love their guac and queso. Really great food and reasonable prices.
Great and friendly staff.
Why do I have to make this so long
Used to be our favorite Mexican restaurant sinceI was a kid, but has steadily gone down hill last 5 or 6 years in terms of food quality.
How perfect to lunch at Blue Bonnet before enjoying American Mariachi at the DCPA. Two of my favorites - great Mexican food and theater! The food was delicious, especially the Brunch Pork Posole Stew and Crispy Relleno. Unfortunately, the Crispy Taco's shell stopped being crispy ... it became soggy. Over all though, a beautiful afternoon! It was also nice being able to make a reservation on line - very easy!
Great Service. Food was not good.
We usually love the Blue Bonnet, but this time our food was bland and the service was just okay. They also no longer have vegetarian tamales which were one of our favorites. The menu has changed and the prices have increased.
The restaurant was dirty. Floors looked absolutely filthy. The food came out quickly but was lukewarm and mediocre at best. Our server was nice. Just expect more from a Denver landmark.
Cant recommend this over any other Mexican restaurant in debcer.
awesome gluten free options and great service! love the liters of margs and the stuffed veggie poblanos are amazing!
Went there before an event with friends. Everyone had a good meal. Nothing was exceptional and only one comment was made that he chili relleno was not completely cooked through. Great pomegranate margarita!
I took my adult daughter for dinner and we both loved the food. It's highly ranked every year on Open Table so we tried it. The chips tasted like they made at the restaurant and the salsa had a nice amount of heat, but not too hot.
I ordered the smothered burrito, which is one of its specialties. I would happily order it again. My daughter ordered enchiladas that she said were delicious. They have outdoor seating if that's your thing. The ambiance was not special, but our waiter was friendly and likable.
The bottom line: I look forward to returning.
It's been around for a very long time, so that tells you something! Delicious food, and my coconut margarita was sooo good, and creative!!
Great, friendly service in a delightful setting. The food was just a tad too spicy for my Kansas City visitors, but just right gor a Colorado (almost) native.
The food was pretty good, our waiter was very nice and everything came out of the kitchen timely. My biggest complaint is the table wasn't wiped down well, and 4 out of the 5 chairs were covered in chips. This is a training issue...chairs should be cleaned as well as tables. Under the table was not too clean either. Don't know if I'd go back.
Everything was amazing!!! I recommend if you want an adult beverage to try the mimosa flight or one of their many Bloody Mary's.
Used to live in Denver and went to The Blue Bonnet now and then. ALWAYS had their crispy chile rellenos, just fantastic. We moved away from Denver about five years ago, but had to go back last week for a short visit. Went back to Blue Bonnet, had the crispy chile rellenos, and they were just as good as we remembered. And the Perfect Margarita was fantastic, too.
