The Bleecker Street Ratings and Reviews
My wife and I dinned at The Bleecker Street last night. Great food at an exceptional value. Now that it is on Open Table I will go here often. The service was professional and attentive. You can't get better than this. The atmosphere is cozy and comfortable. Great place to eat with friends and family.
We would diffidently return here soon.
Tried having lunch at one of my favorite spots on Valentine's. There were not many patrons. Staff was limited since everyone was scheduled for a dinner crowd. Took forever to get order in, then our Caesar salad was never brought (no it wasn't on bill, it was just forgotten). My pizza did not taste like it normally does. My regular coke came back as a diet coke refill. Asked for bread but got it when I was done with my meal. Server was busy setting up for the valentine's decor. Funny how the server let us know he was not happy to be there alone and felt pressured to get his job done before management/next shift came in at 3 but yet ignored the customers he actually had. Really disappointed as I was trying to treat my mom to a nice lunch at one of our favorite spots. Ended up taking her to Local Peasant for lunch and dessert after the experience we had here.
Bleecker Street was alright. There was nothing particularly great about it. I went for Saturday brunch, and there were only a few other people there. There was only one person on duty serving as a host and waiter, who was accommodating when I asked to move my table inside because there wasn't sufficient shaded areas for the tables outside. The food took a very long time to prepare, which was surprising for the lack of people at the restaurant. The food was alright, and seemingly overpriced. The ambiance was also just okay.
Had gone there for a GNO and was pretty disappointed with the food and service. It was not crowded so we should have gotten better service. The service was not friendly nor apologetic when we discovered the server had accidentally dropped the catup in my friends purse. Wasn't impressed with the food either.
We come frequently, and love the tasty thin crust pizzas. I almost always order fish, and really enjoyed the halibut with a mustard sauce, mashed potatoes and sautéed spinach I recently ordered. Portion sizes are generous; service is friendly (but occasionally a little spotty, as when you really need more water but can't find your server).
We reserved to celebrate an adult birthday and we were not disappointed. We had a hard time choosing from the extensive and imaginative menu, and everyone loved their meal. I had the best cioppino of my life--mildly spicy homemade & thick, topped with a ton of perfectly cooked shrimp, mussels, clams,scallops--and 2 lobster tails! I had to take 1/2 home to enjoy the following day. the service was beyond friendly--when they saw gifts being exchanged they spontaneously brought a free bread pudding with a candle to share! Definitely will return.
After eating here several times as it is in the neighborhood, I was very dissappointed in the service we received. It was a Saturday early evening, not crowded at all. It took 20 minutes for our cocktails to arrive and they were not up to their standard. My husband had to go to the bar to instruct the bartender how to make his Manhattan...even with that ..it was sub standard...at 16.00 a drink it should be better. The food was good...but service poor...
we had to ask for silverware , requested several times to have another drink.......
Overall...not up to what I have become used too......
The ahi tuna was cooked and should have been raw. The lobster had the texture of mashed potatoes. We never got some of the items we ordered. It took forever for them to clear our plates. Overall, not only would we not return, we would not recommend others to try this restaurant.
The Pasta Pomodoro was amazing but the shrimp I ordered with it was WAY over cooked. My boyfriends Beef Tenderloin Filet melted like butter in your mouth but it had no seasoning whatsoever( it's called a salt and pepper rub. Not that hard to do!), it was more on the rare side than medium rare, and it was cold. The steamed vegetables also had no seasoning or butter, and the mashed potatoes were gritty. I could have made better (non gritty) mashed potatoes from a box. Oh wait, I have!! Our drinks we ordered sat at the bar for a while because when we got them, they were watered down from the ice melting. Once we finished those, we sat there for over 10 minutes waiting for our server to come back over to ask if wanted refills or something else to drink. If they get servers that are a little more observant and on top of the three tables they had each, and they actually tasted the food and made sure the temperature of the food still hot before it went out the diners, I'd eat there again.
From the moment we arrived with our party of 4 there was disappointment. We were seated near the door where there was a significant cold air draft and a a loud "background" acoustic guitarist/vocalist.
Our waiter was not very present with us especially when we informed him we were not interested in any alcoholic beverages. The service continued to be lack luster as items were forgotten and asked for several times.
The food was very unimpressive and bland at best. We were definitely disappointed as most of the reviews we read were extremely favorable.
I THOUGHT THE FOOD WAS GOOD AND SERVICE OKAY ;HOWEVER, I WAS QUITE DISAPPOINTED THAT THE HOSTESS DID NOT ADVISE OUR WAITER THAT WE WERE CELEBRATING A BIRTHDAY...IT'S NOT THE "FREE" DESSERT BUT RATHER THE LACK OF ACKNOWLEDGING OUR EVENT THAT AGGRAVATED ME...AS THE HOST OF OUR TABLE I PUT IN THE OPEN TABLE RESERVATION THE REASON FOR OUR DINNER AND THIS WAS CONFIRMED BY THE HOSTESS UPON OUR ARRIVAL. AS THE HOST OF OUR GET-TOGETHER IT MADE IT LOOK LIKE I DIDN'T GO THE "EXTRA STEP"...IF YOU ARE CELEBRATING A SPECIAL OCCASION GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!
The exterior of the restaurant belies no clue as to the open, high-ceiling interior. Among our party we ordered four different dishes: Arroz con Camarones, El Bleecker pizza, protein-style turkey burger and a hamburger. Neither burger was seasoned enough. They both tasted bland. In addition, the hamburger was ordered medium rare and was served medium well. The turkey burger was a bit mealy, like it had been quickly defrosted and perhaps contained too much water. It fell apart easily. Both of the other dishes were quite tasty, however. The Arroz was seasoned well, and the pizza was a perfect balance of flavors.
We met at 10:00 and were there until 1:00, and we were so surprised at how un-crowded it was for Sunday brunch! We were nearly the only table occupied for the first part of our meal. The food was delicious (especially the lobster grilled cheese) and our server was very accommodating and friendly and didn't mind how long we stayed. I would certainly return for brunch since it was calm and easy. I'd try it for dinner, too.
I've eaten at Bleecker Street more time than I can count. Several years ago, I had an office less than 1 mile away. At that time the service and food were excellent. Based on the past I've continued to go to Bleecker Street whenever I'm in the area. I've noticed during the last few visits that the food has changed, and not for the better. I'm not sure what is going on, but it has progressively declined. They have more selections, but the food just isn't what it once was. I took a friend there for dinner last night and it was probably my last visit. It was Saturday night and the place had more people than usual, but the service was horrible. It took over 5 minutes before anyone asked if we wanted water. In the past they would leave a bottle of water on the table, but not anymore. Once we drank the first glass, it took forever before our server brought us more water. As a matter of fact, he never asked if we wanted more, I had to ask another server. I ordered the short ribs and she had the chicken madera. Absolutely, horrible short ribs, the worst meal I've had at Bleecker Street. The chicken madera was a bit better, but not much. My food was warm at best. Needless, to say, that was the last time I plan to eat a Bleecker Street. The food has been on the decline, but the bad service was the clincher.
We had tried to eat at this restaurant awhile ago, and the hostess was rude. I vowed not to go back, but a friend suggested we try it for lunch. What a great surprise. The food was excellent, the service was attentive and the atmosphere was pleasant. I had the Salmon Sandwich and my friend had the Ahi Tuna Filet Sandwich, both were excellent. The bread was nicely toasted, the salmon piece was plentiful and cooked perfectly. The aioli sauce and fresh avocado gave the sandwich the perfect topping. It can be paired with fries, vegetables or salad. I had the house salad with the citrus dressing, it was fresh and light. Bleecker Street is back on my go to list!
We were a party of four and met for lunch at noon on a week day. We had originally wanted to sit outside but because of the construction going in the vicinity we asked to be seated inside. Not a problem as there was only one other couple dining there. The atmosphere was pleasant and our waitress was warm and personable. As each one of our party arrived, she came over to greet and take the drink order which was served promptly. She then left us to socialize a bit before returning to take our orders. It was all down hill from there. The kitchen was incredibly slow and the food was poorly prepared. Although all our food was served at the same time, much of it was cold and gave the impression that the cook was just doing one dish at a time rather than cooking things simultaneously. My grilled veggie sandwich was not as described in the menu and although the vegetables were warm, they were still raw. The sandwich itself was stone cold. The toasted bread on my friend's lobster grilled cheese sandwich was so badly burnt around the edges that she had to cut them off. My other friend's tacos were falling apart; the tortillas were cold and had not been softened. Her rice was luke warm and her beans were cold. The only one who had a good dining experience was my friend who ordered a simple quesadilla--not exactly a challenging thing to prepare. No, we won't be going back any time soon.
I have visited Bleeker Street before, and it is a good place for an impromptu dinner with friends. The food is mostly enjoyable, the wine list is good, the ambiance is nice! This is a restaurant where you can belly up to the bar and watch sports on TV, or hang out with a group of friends and be able to have some nice appetizers and drinks. Most of all, I can hear what my friends are saying and enjoy their company.
I have wanted to stop in here for some time, so I took the occasion to celebrate my birthday there with my family. We loved it and we definitely plan on returning. Nice atmosphere. Service was great and the food was wonderful. Staff were friendly and the drinks were great! (Newly minted Chocolatini fan here!!).
Lobster grilled cheese sandwich was delicious. The meats they use on the pizzas are with no fat and are such high quality. Thinnest crust pizzas I've ever had. We will definitely come back. Servers are right there constantly refilling water and serving your every wish. You can tell the chef is world-class. I really love this place.
I went here based on a recommendation for lunch and I was not disappointed. It is a well appointed smaller place with friendly staff. The menu is not to small and the quality is really good and healthy. I will definitely go back and try a few more of their dishes.
It was perfect for our group and we were able to stay as long as we wanted.. The downside was that for most of the time we were the only people in the whole place so we don't know if it will last for breakfast. It was great because they served both breakfast and lunch. The food was very good with a large menu. I have been there for dinner and just for drinks and there's a great vibe.
Waiter took our drink orders then vanished. I had to go to the bar 10 mins later to see if anyone was working. Bartender was on the phone. Then the drinks came one at a time. Bread came but no bread plates. Food was fine but who cared at that point. For me, I've given them their last chance. Did I mention the place was nearly empty.
Bleaker Street Restaurant has good food and a nice outdoor eating area. The interior is very lovely . Some of the tables are very high so it isn't very kid or elderly friendly.
We ate there on a hot day and the air conditioning was broken. It was very noisey because they had a guy playing the guitar. He was good but the volumin was too high. This was the second time I have been there and the wait staff was terrible. We kept having to flag down our waiter for everything😒
Some problems, such as having to send back the lemon drop martini and the waiter informs us after the fact that they are out of lemon. No wonder it didn't taste right. Truffle fries were requested, but regular fried were delivered. I'd notified the maitre de that we were celebrating a birthday but she never told our waiter and no special attention was given. Like 3 strikes and you're out.
I've always enjoyed going to Bleecker Street. The food is consistently good, the place is always energetic and the servers are always friendly.
I have noticed, however, that the service tends to be very slow. The food takes more than 20 minutes to come out and the drinks take about 10 minutes.
