Good spot for casual dinner

Wait staffwere friendly casual and the atmosphere was great. I took my grandson there and it was a good choice.

Initially, the waiter was slow to greet us and generally, unprofessional in his manner of service. this indicated that he was poorly trained in servicing tables.
The food; the calimari was undercooked and small serving size.
Overall, the Holiday Thanksgiving meal was awful!
I thought it was only a notch above TV dinner quality.
Mine was barely warm and looked sloppy, was bland in taste and, the turkey was cut WAY TOO THICK.
I regreted dinning at the Blake House and would NOT return.

Nicely-renovated historic home with mostly small-group seating options. Ideal for two to four diners, but other combinations are available as well. Service was a perfect combination of friendly and helpful, efficient and professional. The modestly creative dinner menu includes interesting daily specials. The pappardelle was a nice surprise. I will definitely return to explore their menu further.

As usual, our meal at the Blake was delicious - well prepared and reasonably priced. The service was excellent - friendly, attentive but not intrusive. The Blake is our go-to place in the neighbourhood.

Came here got an evening meal with family whilst visiting from UK. Can't comment on interior as we ate only on the outside front patio. Although roadside it was not noisy and the mature trees gave a nice ambience. Staff were helpful and friendly. We all went for a steak dish each and were all equally pleased with the presentation, taste and quality. There was a decent wine selection at reasonable prices and we chose the Tempranillo which was good. All desserts were good and I recommend the crime brûlée which was a great finish to the meal. Good value with good quality. Definitely go back again on next visit.

This is our third visit to this restaurant and every time, the service is friendly and the food is good. The salad is fresh and the beer is reasonable.

The Blake House is comfort pub food done really well and served up in a warm, inviting space. The staff is friendly and the prices are reasonable.

We went to The Blake House with a group of 10 to celebrate 2 friends' birthdays. I've generally found you suffer on quality with large groups but that was not the case here. We were very well attended to! The dinner was delicious from beginning to end; drinks were well made, appetizers were delicious (the entire table was impressed by their beef samosas), and entrees left us fully and satisfied. I would definitely go back, and even in the summer to try their patio as well.

We really enjoyed our Winterlicious meals at this cozy restaurant. The atmosphere was great for our date night and we enjoyed everything we tried. I particularly liked my samosas which were tasty and fluffy and crunchy all at once. But the dessert was the best thing I've had in a long, long time. It was the Kahlua chocolate mousse and the texture and flavour were out of this world! I might come back just to have dessert again. The Blake House is worth checking out if you're in the mood for a cozy spot with quality food.

It was a little draughty,we were seated just inside the doors but the heat could have been turned up. Our waitress was a little snooty,not very sociable. The food was very good,portions were outstanding.

The place is really nice! The food was hot when read and also learned a lot about baking Sword Fish.

An establish neighbourhood restaurant which provides consistently well prepared food and excellent service. A great selection of menu items along with daily specials. The daily specials are well priced and provide customers with not only great food but also great value. The specials on this visit sounded excellent however we choose the wings. Despite being a busy night at the restaurant the wings were served in a timely manner at the perfect temperature. They were delicious. Highly recommend the Kosher Salt & Black Pepper Rub and the Dry Mesquite. Great selection of on-tap beers and a variety of wines. Friendly and accommodating staff who provide outstanding service.

Although I've been seated alone, in a dark corner, with cold drafts from the window (that's why I rate poor the service), the pub definitely has a a great potential to offer due to the nice ambiance, good food (maybe just a little bit overpriced) and pretty good selection of beers/wines/spirits.
Overall, it's a great place/pub to hang out with friends as they can easily accommodate large groups, but I wouldn't recommend for a 'special/romantic' dinner due to the noise level (that ranges from moderate to energetic).

I dined at Blake House with my wife and two friends. The atmosphere was pleasant, the food good and the price was reasonable. We would all go back there again.

Very enjoyable friendly experience. We always enjoy eating at the Blake House. The staff are friendly and the food has that nice home cook feel.

They do a great Thanksgiving special. The food was excellent. My dining companions were ridiculously late and the server was really cool about it. Great place.

We had stopped in at The Blake House last summer while roaming around town and thought it was a really nice place. We didn't eat on that visit, so decided it was about time we did. We shared their "signature" burger, The Blake House Burger with the avocado citrus spread, bacon and carmelized onions. The burger itself was a tad dry and too dense. The fries were not crisp (either the oil needed changing or it wasn't hot enough) and I don't remember getting a pickle on the plate at all. The best part was the avocado spread. Drinks were fine and service was great. I'll give the menu another try sometime, but will probably stick with an appetizer.

Went here for our first Canadian Thanksgiving Holiday. The service, food and environment made our dinner a special and unforgettable moment. Pricing is fair and the food was fantastic!

I made dinner reservations for thanksgiving and had the traditional thanksgiving meal they were serving, everything was very good! My boyfriend had the fish and chips, the fries were amazing... And if you are looking to order a cocktail I recommend Blake's splash. Oh almost forgot we also got the calamari which was also quite good, but the portion size was some what small for the price. Our waitress was super friendly, I would definitely recommend checking this place out.

The food was great, the service impeccable and Jim and Mike make you feel at home. We love this place.

Enjoyed dinner here on a warm late September night. Greeted warmly, seated on patio, and well attended to by several servers/staff. Dinner was quite good, just not quite brilliant. Nice drinks list and pricing.

Blake's House, situated anywhere else, would still be an excellent pub. But this is more than a pub, this is essential Toronto history. Like anything in real estate, it is ideally located as a place to dine before you go to catch a subsequent show. In our case, Cirque Du Soleil, a mere 7 minutes south to get by cab to the Port Lands. To get to Blake House, it is also ideal to catch a GO Train to Union if you are out of the city and thus completely beat the abomination that Toronto traffic has become on the Gardiner East/West, at any time of day. Exiting Union, if the weather is nice you can even stroll a bit as we did before catching a cab a few minutes north up Jarvis. The food is very enjoyable and the service exceptional.

We chose the Blake House as we had first dined there on the patio in the summer. We decided to return to celebrate a friend's birthday recently and we were not disappointed . For the first time we dined inside and just loved the ambience. Not only was the server great the food was great as well. All in all a great night. Thanks.

Hi, The service was bordering on excellence. The food would have gotten a perfect score other than there was very little aux ju or gravy for the yorkshire pudding. A very enjoyable experience overall.

This was our first visit to Blake House and I would definately return.

6 of my family members enjoyed a great dining experience on Aug. 30th, to celebrate my sister's 62nd birthday. Everyone enjoyed the atmosphere and food very much. The service was great, our server was very friendly and knowledgeable, and the owner delivered a cheesecake with a candle in it (as ordered by me the day before) for my sister, as we all sang Happy Birthday! It is always a pleasure to dine at the Blake House, and I look forward to my next visit!

It was my first time at the Blake House and it was a wonderful experience from the moment our group arrived, being greeted on the entrance path to the moment we paid the bill. The staff was courteous and full of smiles so happy to be there:) Looking forward to my next visit.

Went on Aug 22 with a group of friends. I ordered the Portabello burger on the menu and it was excellent! Their Blake burger got great reviews from my friends as well.

Great food. Overall experience excellent. Brought 5 guests who were all very appreciative of the food and service. Will definitely return.

Our experience would have been much better, but I truly don't think I have had a worse waitress. She wasn't unfriendly, just completely unaware and inattentive. We saw her when she brought our appetizer, and then not again, literally, until she cleared our dinner plates (someone else even brought our entrees). She never came back to ask about the food, refill drinks, etc. It was my daughter's birthday, and we never did get the cake with the candle, and we had to go search for her to pay our bill.

Terrific place to meet friends, enjoy excellent food, relax and enjoy life. Felt well cared for by hospitable staff. Highly recommend.
