LOVE the Black Sheep and you will too! And the hotel is like none other. Perfect place to check out if you are visiting the area or if you're a local. Highly recommended!!
Love the food here. Delicious soups, salads and sandwiches. Nice outdoor patio seating. My favorites are the grilled cheese sandwich and the kendall salad. Their homemade potato chips and salad dressings are scrumptious. Nice place for a relaxing lunch.
I happen to love this restaurant. I brought some of my team members the other night for dinner. All exclaimed how delicious everything was. We loved the ambience and we were able to have a nice conversation without a lot of noise. The service fine. We felt a bit rushed by the server even though I had said after she brought us our bottle of wine, that we needed to enjoy our wine for a bit before ordering. In any event, the food was wonderful and the wine a Pinot Gris a favorite!
Thank you.
Santos and his team did a nice job of supporting our celebration.
I've been waiting YEARS to visit The Black Sheep, and I was not let down! Small (but good variety) menu of delicious fresh, local, New England comfort food.
Service was phenomenal! Everyone was pleasant, attentive, and prompt. I can't wait to go back!!!
We had a party of 6 for a graduation. 22-62 age... Food was truly excellent in quality, quantity, and taste. Everyone enjoyed their meal. We each had starter/appetizer, Entree, then split dessert. We ate in the front dining room. Waitress and servers were all attentive and polite.
As usual, the staff was friendly and attentive. Although the menu is limited, it is tasty and consistently good.
We have stayed at the Kendall many times, but this is the first time we have eaten at the Black Sheep. We will definitely go back whenever we are in Cambridge. The staff at the hotel and the restaurant are excellent. The client is clearly their priority. Both our meals were excellent.
We had a lovely time at this adorable restaurant in Cambridge!
Thank you for a very enjoyable experience all around!
Fabulous little restaurant with great food and service. Loved the outdoor patio.
The Black Sheep is a wonderful place for lunch. A great menu, very good food and excellent service.
The best ever!!
Love this Resturant
Black sheep is small but doesn't feel crowded. The wait staff are very attentive and seem to share tables,so you're never trying to catch someone's eye.
The food was tremendous.... not wildly unusual but prepared perfectly. My son and I had a steak special and it was everything a steak could be.
Great intimate restaurant that is casual with great food.
I have never been disappointed with this restaurant. It is small, intimate, warm and subtly elegant.
Food is great and service is excellent.
And, you can hear without shouting.
This is my go-to place for special events.
Black Sheep was a standard, fine place for dinner but did not possess much excitement of choices for food. The food was good. Nothing to complain about - but nothing to be excited about either. Portions sizes were good.
all of the times that i have been at black sheep there has never been a time that i was disappointed and neither has my guest.
I LOVE the Kendall! This restaurant is on the first floor and is one of my favorites. We go there for valentine's dinner every year. (a few days before to avoid the crowds) The filet mignon cuts like butter and tastes amazing. The wait can seem a bit long for certain dishes.... but it is so worth it!
For desert my favorite is the molten chocolate cake. Yum!
Cozy space within the lobby of the hotel but warm and private. Not too many tables and not crowded on a weeknight. Great wine by the glass (try the rose) and her swordfish and my scallops were both prepared perfectly, with delicious sides, all very creative without being pretentious.
It is a lovely little gem of a place, warm and cozy and the food is spectacular!
Our team enjoyed the food during our business meeting. Would recommend this restaurant to others.
Black sheep is a great option for lunch. RIght in Kendall square and has awesome sandwhiches and salads. I love the firehouse taco salad!
Delicious food served in an inn housed in a historic firehouse! The restaurant isn't separated from the hotel lobby, so it could get noisy if there were lots of guests coming & going. Service was very attentive! They were knowledgeable about what could be gluten-free on the menu (lots of options for a small menu). Gluten-free chocolate cake was rich & delicious but HUGE portion!
We had a glorious meal for New Year's Eve: the food and the service were top notch!
It was busy and I think they were understaffed. I went here with my boyfriend and my brother. I ordered a quinoa salad bowl with seared salmon. Instead they brought me just a plate of salmon over some EXTREMELY SALTY greens. Like inedible salty. Then they brought me a random salad next to it that just had random things in it, like olives, which I hate and we're. It a listed ingredient on the menu. The olive taste was all over the salad so I couldn't even pick them out. We also ordered calamari that came served with... salsa? It was strange. Never had calamari with salsa and I don't recommend it. My brother ordered a mushroom ravioli special that was also SO SALTY it was inedible. My boyfriend ordered the scallops and his was actually pretty good. The waitress was very nice though I think there was a smalll communication barrier.
This is the third time I've tried to change the name on this account. It should be my own name, Mary Elliff, not Suzi Duff. She's my sister, and I took her to lunch more than a year ago. Do you EVER read these review comments?
Black Sheep never disappoints and their lunch menu has great sandwich, soup and salad options. Always fresh and tasty.
Service was excellent- my friend was having trouble finding parking, got totally lost, and since had another event to get to, i ordered for her and the food was ready just as she walked in. food was good, although i had the crab cakes and wished they came with a more traditional tartar sauce as opposed to the sweet and sour sauce which was just so-so.
Restaurant is small but I liked the decor and the warmth
This is one of my wife and my favorite restaurants for lunch. Just a cute, lobby restaurant with great food, great service and great value.
Service was impeccable, our server Viviane was very knowledgeable, attentive, friendly and we loved her Brazilian accent. The restaurant is cozy and beautiful. The food presentation was fantastic, and I finally was able to enjoy a juicy, well-done burger. It wasn't charred or dry. That wonderful server, Viviane, asked chef to put roasted veggies on my burger because she heard me say I'd love some but didn't want the pasta main entree. Lastly, upon arrival I told her it was my husband's birthday and they prepared a lovely and delicious dessert plate! Great experience
Best steak anywhere! Great wine selection as well. Staff is professional and attentive.
This is a tiny little restaurant in the Kendall Hotel. It used to be a firehouse and has much interesting memorabilia throughout. Our waitress could not have been more helpful and personable. we went there for an early dinner and I had the wedge salad as my dinner- probably the most tasty wedge salad I've ever had. My husband and sister had the chili soup and loved it.
dessert was a piece of homemade boston cream pie and was delicious. I would definitely come back and definitely recommend.
Food was hit or miss. Service was poor I waited ten minutes for a glass of water. Wasn't busy.
Ate here with 4 very excited and talkative teens and 2 very tired Moms. All went well and our server handled everyone wonderfully. It was LOUD though. Made it hard to talk/listen without really speaking loudly ourselves. Large portions. Very tasty.
My favorite restaurant near MIT in Cambridge! Superlative food, fantastic service, intimate, and interesting fire-station history to boot.
Charmingly renovated former fire house decorated with Americana memorabilia as well as U.S. historical events and characters. Food is very good though the waitstaff has no information about ingredient content such as sodium, fat, etc. Lovely old photographs of women from the early 1900's adorn the women's room wall. Very tastefully decorated over all including private dining rooms.
The Black Sheep was a truly lovely experience. The menu is short but has something for every taste. The food was perfectly prepared. One of my companions pronounced the ribeye the "best steak" he has ever had. The wine by the glass menu is relatively long which means plenty of choice for different palates. The setting in the lobby of the Hotel Kendall is surprisingly cost and quiet. The service was excellent.
I had reserved a table at the Black Sheep for an important business lunch. Upon arriving, we were not seated in the main dining room but instead taken to a dark room in the back located next to the restrooms. The ambience and service were terrible. The server forgot to bring a side of soup we ordered and didn't give us a choice of sides with our sandwiches. It took a long time to get and then pay the check. Overall an embarrassing experience when trying to impress a business contact.
Had a business lunch. Noise level/privacy can be a factor because tables close together, but it worked out fine. Service was excellent and food was fresh and nicely presented. Great bread on sandwiches and burgers. It was too cool for the outdoor patio, but that looks like a nice option for summer. Would return. Reservations recommended.
