Took my husband for birthday brunch. Reservation made weeks ago. We were seated at a small table in the bar area. At times bar area so crowded they were practically on our table. Also one man seated at the bar with a small toddler(?) Asked to be moved but nothing else available.
Loud and uncomfortable experience. Bad impression and would not consider returning.
Sunday Brunch is especially good at the Black Sheep..The selection is varied more than the dinners..(in my opinion) Everything was fresh and hot and delicious!!!!!!!!
Love this place! Great food and service! The big plates are must try! Great coffee and tea choices too!
Spent two days in Buffalo visiting its rich architectural history. Found The Black Sheep through on line restaurant reviews. Food was outstanding. Would go back but it is 300 miles away. Highly recommend.
Went on a brunch date (on a weekday) with reservations. The food was incredible, the drinks were perfect - really loved the endless coffee - and the service was phenomenal! Can't wait to go back soon.
Every dish is different and delicious you won't be disappointed with your choices. The homemade bread is not to be passed up and please don't forget to have the Sticky Toffee Pudding. The staff is wonderful and the bar tenders serve the best cocktails. One of my top 5 favorite restaurants in Buffalo.
Excellent as usual. Service was wonderful as were selections. Although we sat at table with friends and had entrees and a couple of aps. I still prefer sitting at bar eating a number of aps.
I can't wait to go back. Everything from appetizer to dessert was delicious. The service was friendly and professional. I also loved being able to sit outside. They were so accommodating. Highly recommended.
Delicious food and excellent servers. The Sticky Toffee Pudding is amazing!
We sat on the patio and were warned about bees, we took a chance because it was a gorgeous night. If they know about the bees then they should have it sprayed. Buffalonians want to sit outside when it is nice. Or server was poor, most of the device we received was from a different waitress. Two of three meals arrived and the other didn't come out for 5 min. The two that arrived first were cold upon delivery. Mgr did take one of the meals off the bill which was a nice gesture. Have visited her 2 other times and it was good. Will give it another shot in the future.
Outstanding Brunch with my Husband. Service was great- Ashley was our server. Game of Scones were delicious. Brunch plates were out of this world. I will be back.
Everything was amazing! The best deal for sure though was the game of scones. I was not expecting so much but was pleasantly surprised. Definitely going back!
The Black Sheep is excellent from start to finish.
One of the best restaurants in the city of Buffalo,I have been here numerous times and plan on going back.....brunch was equally as great
We sat outside on the patio, which is quite spacious. Their herbs are grown right there; you can't get fresher than that. The cuisine is inventive, especially in the use of vegetables on the summer menu. There are not too many places where you can get pierogies or whole roasted beets. The outdoor seating area could be a bit more attractive with some landscaping, but other than that, it was quiet and a nice setting for a meal. The indoor restaurant, where I have eaten on other occasions, is a very nice setting. I've eaten here several times already, and I will return.
Lovely patio for a summer night. Good appetizers- innovative, excellent mix of tastes but not all that unique or special. Main courses we're very limited in selection (5) but they had run out of one of the five. So we had 3 of the 4 remaining selection. The vegetarian lasagna was average, the fideo was poor and the pork chop simply bad. The vegetables were overlooked, meat was either of mush consistency or rubber (pork chop). Wine selection was amateurish and could be duplicated by a quick run to the local grocery store. The cocktail menu was interesting though we did not partake in them. Dessert selection, especially the ice creams, were excellent in variety, innovation and taste. But who goes for a "fine" dining full selection restaurant for desserts only.
Go eat elsewhere and enjoy your meal then come to the Black Sheep for dessert and a cocktail on a nice summer evening to sit on the patio. But don't waste your time, money or tart buds otherwise.
We went to celebrate our anniversary and had a wonderful meal and evening! We started with the pork skin fritters which were different and delicious!! For my meal I chose Fideo, which is a Spanish pasta dish where the pasta is fried and served in a sofrito sauce with sea urchins!! My husband had the daily chicken special and he just kept saying how good all the flavors were together!! And the dessert....Corn Caramel--It was a custard with fresh corn and blueberries !!! Again different and so delicious!!! Would definitely recommend this restaurant. It took us a while to get here, but hopefully we will be back soon!!!
Truly the most memorable meal I have had in a long time. All of our dishes were of exceptional quality, beautifully plated, and incorporated unique and locally-sourced ingredients. The roasted carrots wirh chamomile gelee and the sunflower blossom were outstanding, as was the dessert: a corn caramel with fresh blueberries and sweet corn. These dishes are not to be missed.
Chef Gedra and his team are on their "A++++" game and Ellen's creations are always a show stopper. Ashley's bar program is spot on and she's one of the best mixologist in the city. Much love and respect!
After having been there several times and being a big fan of Europa before they expanded, I have been disappointed the last couple of visits. This time in particular, the food was okay but not at all the quality of the past. The choices on the menu and the specials were all over the place so it was not easy to order small plates, large plates etc that worked well together. It was pricey ...not rushing back.
I've eaten at some of the finest restaurants in the US and the food here is up to that standard. It's one of the top places I've eaten in.
terrific as usual. The food was outstanding and we enjoyed several of the draft beers.
This place had the most amazing food, presentation, taste, and all. Everything was exciting, I couldn't wait for the next plate to come out!! Especially the desert with tea at the end, absolutely perfect. As well as the service, the wait or always asked how we were doing and did a great job with descriptions. Totally recommend for a fun night out!!
My husband and I enjoyed our meal with old friends. The wait staff were great....knowledgeable and friendly. Food was superb and servings were "right sized."
Drinks are creative but too bitter, loved the BBQ nugget appetizer and ranch dip. Staff was very attentive but a bit too serious, lighten up a bit. Great bread pudding. Would've loved to see the garden fixed up more, kinda neglected
Black Sheep is known for its revolving menu featuring farm to table fare. Our recent mid-week visit didn't disappoint. We were in the mood for a leisurely dinner, so we waived off our server (Dylan) once or twice, and he never hovered or otherwise seemed impatient. When asked for suggestions, he was obliging and knowledgeable. The restaurant portion was only partially full, but there were several patrons at the bar, however, the noise from the bar didn't filter into the back.
I had the lamb agnolotti. The buttermilk Parmesan broth it was resting in was divine -- I honestly would have been content with just a bowlful of that. My companion had the crispy chicken with pomegranate molasses and sesame. She said it was tasty and it looked divine.
For dessert my friend opted for vanilla and tea-flavored ice cream, while I selected rhubarb profiteroles. Now I adore profiteroles (ever since I had a chance to have Bobby Flay's). And I was excited about the concept of having a preparation that included rhubarb. However, I was the tiniest bit disappointed. HOWEVER, this was entirely my own fault. I had simply imagined that the rhubarb would be presented as a sauce while in truth it was actual bits of rhubarb. It was simply different than what I was expecting. Not "worse" by any manner of means, it just was unexpected.
The price point for Black Sheep is quite reasonable. I've seen some reviews that call the restaurant expensive. The entrees hovered between $25 and $30, with the most expensive on the menu being $42. Drinks and desserts were standard prices for this type of restaurant, so unless you're sitting at the bar and getting skunked, I'm not sure why anyone would be complaining.
All in all, dinner was delightful, and I'm looking forward to more dinners here soon.

Simply put, my experience here was nothing short of near perfect. The food tasted and looked great. The wine and drink list was everything you could hope for and more.
Things can get expensive quick, so keep that in mind. Everything was well worth it and I would definitely try the black sheep a second time
Sooooooooooo delicious!!!!!!! Loved it! My favorite!
An excellent meal, with fine wine, and great service from "Mary". The patio was wonderful on a beautiful, sunny early evening. The Sticky Toffee Pudding is the best dessert we've had anywhere.
Great restaurant and outstanding value, creative cocktails and cuisine Our only dinner in Buffalo on a quick trip from FL but picked it as a "chef owned" venue. Well worth the crazy drive from airpoirt hotel and we really enjoyed the evening. Seems to be a local, neighborhood gem!
This was a first visit on a date night to a show at a nearby music venue. We were not disappointed. Food was terrific - my chicken dish was one of the best I have ever had. Service was just right - quick, friendly and knowledgeable but not at all overbearing. We were surprised it was not very busy on a weekday night before a local concert - busy bar but plenty of open tables. Strongly recommend this nice little gem for a group on the back patio or a nice date night.
Third time here and always awesome food, drinks and service. All times have been for brunch - which is amazing!!! Def planning on coming back to try dinner one night and would like to do brunch on the patio soon as well :)
Favorite brunch spot by far
The food was delish and the lime/coconut scones were AMAZING!
Came for appetizers, cocktails & dessert. Enjoyed the Freshy Freshy cocktail and the Lamb Moo Shoo was killer good! Loved the Rhubarb Profiteroles - delicious - but so little . . .and of course - the Sticky Toffee pudding. The Apple Napoleon - meh. Place was a little loud - next time we'll ask for an outside table.
The menu, the atmosphere, the food, the taste, the creativity - Black Sheep is simply a wonderful restaurant.
Very good service and the food was amazing!
Everything was amazing! The menu was a foodies delight. Nothing same-old or boring here. Interesting, ingenious use of ingredients that satisfied all our palettes. The craft cocktails were the perfect starter to our evening along with the house made meats platter.
Love brunch at the bar. Bartenders are great
Absolutely amazing meal. Go immediately. Best meal I've ever had in Buffalo by far. You can really tell the chef knows his stuff and the attention to detail is spot on. Everything is homemade and locally sourced, and it shows. Service was great. (Wish I remembered the servers name. Tall slim guy with dark hair.) He was very knowledgeable and helpful when ordering. The only negative thing I could think to say would be that for the first half of dinner it was pretty loud in the front bar room where we were sat. It was a Saturday evening though so that's to be expected and it started to die down as our meal went on. It would have been more enjoyable to sit in the main dining room and we will definitely request that for our next trip. We were too full from our pierogi, lamb anglotti, and beef bavette special to try the famous sticky toffee pudding so we will definitely be back.
