The Black Horse in the village of Fulmer is nestled between Gerrards Cross and Pinewood Studios. The 17th Century craftsman’s cottage has gradually been extended to form a charming country pub full of nooks and crannies. Under new ownership, The Black Horse has recently undergone extensive refurbishment both inside and out, creating one of the nicest pub environments in the area.

Food is our passion and we will never compromise on quality. We are proud of our seasonally changing menus, simple, yet exciting using the finest ingredients and locally sourced produce. Certain dishes have become specialities such as our sticky ribs and homemade 8oz burgers. Our beef has been aged for a minimum of 35 days and the roast beef served on Sundays is unrivalled. Crispy beer battered fish and specials such as sea bass, turbot and whole lobster, is caught in the morning and delivered fresh to us on the same day.

The pub is advertised as dog and wheelchair friendly but it is neither. It doesn't say dogs are not allowed in the restaurant but we were told we would have to sit in the public bar, which was inaccessible for one of us in a wheelchair, but a concession was made for us to sit in an in between area. Even though there were very few diners the food delivery service was very slow. The starters were good, but the steaks were poor quality and everything on the menu was well overpriced. Overall a poor experience

A wonderful meal with family, experienced Barman who knew Wine to recommend and had good knowledge of the menu. All round lovely evening with exceptional food.

Shame, as everything was really good except the noise level was unbelievable for just 3 or 4 tables. Myself and my parents struggled to have a conversation Maybe due to the fairly low ceiling or not enough soft furnishings but it was a struggle to talk without raising our voices which spoilt our lunch and of course exaggerated the noise

Food was nice, just felt a ripped off when the bill came. We had an Aperol Spritz (which isn’t on the menu) which was £14.50. That’s seriously overpriced and has put us off. Just seems to be the one takeaway I’ve told friends about.

Servers were great Disappointingly… No Prosecco No chunky fries Was our second visit, just found it a bit mediocre . Fried Cod was not as good as our first visit.

Food was lovely but we had to ask for condiments, horse radish etc. When you are having roasts all these should be brought before the main course is served Service is under resourced. We we greeted well but then sat for at least 10 mins before a menu was given to us and we had to ask to order drinks. Then it was at least 20 mins before anyone came to take our food order?? Whilst the staff were polite and friendly. The intermittant service lets you down
