The meal is culturally fitting for the name of the restaurant (a place in Germany). It was very tasty food! We love eating food we wouldn't cook at home. Good waiters who keep care of you regularly. It's a relaxing cozy restaurant with lots of patrons so must be good. However I would not order the dessert again. Rather bland after such a tasty main dish. One hardly needs a dessert though as the main dish is a full plate! Very substantial.

Was a pleasant family dinner with our two year old. Our server brought my little pony dolls over for my daughter which was very considerate. Aside from that service was attentive, though not overly warm or impressionable. We had two schnitzel meals (one with Bratwurst on top) and ordered off the kids menu for my daughter. Food came promptly and was solid- well cooked and well seasoned, just not the most flavourful. I was wishing for a mustard or something to dip my schnitzel in - maybe I just don't love schnitzel and potatoes that much (definitely brown foods). Red cabbage wasn't quite as good as my Oma's but nobody was disappointed.

If this restaurant were in Vancouver, I probably wouldn't go again, but if I went back to Harrisson I probably would. It was totally "good" I just don't think it's "great." On the expensive side. But there's not a lot of dining options, and family friendly restaurants can be hard to come by, so I wouldn't hesitate to recommend to other travellers. If I was there for a more romantic meal, I would be annoyed that the lake view enclosed patio has a TV in it (we walked by one night and it was on a channel covering Trump news, that would have definitely ruined a meal for me).

Last thing, I did note in my open table reso that we needed a booster seat and wanted to sit near a window, but neither of those notes seemed to make it to the restaurant.

Over all we liked the food, the beer, the atmosphere. The only thing was because it’s quite popular, we felt hurried. We booked for 7 , didn’t get seated until almost 8. And when our food came we felt obligated to Eat fast. The kitchen closes at 9, I felt the staff was rushing trying to hurry everyone out of there.

Avoid the escargot. Half of the order had sand in them. Waiter seemed surprise to hear a complaint like that. Apart from that, everything else seems quite good!

We were at the restaurant around 5:30pm on a week night and the restaurant was 80% full already. There were some young families so there were some occasional baby crying and noise from children. Food quality seem to have changed from how I remembered it a year or two before. For one thing, my onion soup was half the size as it used to be and there werent much cheese to be found. It has moved from a fine dining restaurant to a family restaurant I am afraid.

Were looking for a place to dine with our kids while in Harrison Hot Springs for the evening and found this gem on OpenTable with high diner ratings. It seemed to be the busiest restaurant on the strip, and I can see why. The service was prompt and pleasant, and it we did not wait long for our food to arrive. The food was delicious (Meatloaf, Prawns Pernod, Bavarian sausage and for the kids: chicken fingers and fries) and the portions were generous. The selection of Bavarian beers was good as well. We sat on the glass-enclosed and heated patio with views of the lake and mountains.

Food was delicious. Portions were very big and served quite quickly. Their outdoor glass enclosed patio was nice and toasty. You could see the whole street and view. We were there at night so didn't see much of the view but enjoyed the people watching. It didn't get too loud. Seems to get super busy around dinnertime. We has reservations for 6pm and it was quiet then. Give it a try!

We all had a wonderful time, the place was busy but the service was excellent, the cake was too small for 78 candles but we survived. The food was delicious

It is one of our regular dining place whenever we come to the area. We enjoyed their food in the past and even now. They are very accommodating with slight change of menu that is different from what is on. I wanted to Calamari dinner and it was not on the menu. The restaurant made it as a dinner plate for me. We basically ordered appetizers only this time because we had big lunch. I have seen the staff having tough times with some rather unreasonable customers before but they had never, not even once, made it a scene and maintained professionalism. Bravo!

Our food was good, the ambiance was good. My husband and I are both earthing ketogenic so we were careful with our orders. When dinner came we bit into the purple cabbage and it tasted sweet. When I asked to waiter if there was sugar in the cabbage he replied yes. I told him I couldn't eat sugar. He just said, "Oh." And walked away. I was really disappointed in that; both the sugar and the waiter not really addressing it.

While the restaurant has had a change in ownership in recent years the new owners have maintained the excellent food an service that has kept us going back time and again for many years and still does.

Great meal, good prices, seems fairly true to real German food. They didn't actually log our Open Table reservation, but they accommodated us just fine even on a fairly busy Saturday evening.

Schnitzels are the specialty and there are good choices.

We went on a busy night. We had an overwhelmed waitress. Not that great German food, we have had better. Not a lot of flavor to the dishes. It was a supposed to be a nice night with good food. We left disappointed.

This was a good place - glad we went. There is a lot of meat, so it's a bit heavy if you aren't paying attention. Good beer because the Krombacher dark to start and the pilsner with schnitzel. We both agreed the fare would be better in the winter vs the summer, but we'd definitely go back next time in Harrison for a couple of nights.

We always eat here when we come to Harrison. This time my husband and I were celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary. There were 10 of us, we all ordered something different and all enjoyed our meals.

The bratwurst and schnitzel dishes were flavorful and abundant. Escargot, excellent and was the children's menu. Female server was friendly and knowledgeable. Cocktails on the high side, but was expected for where the restaurant was located. My family will definitely dine again and we would recommend this establishment to others.

We enjoyed a Birthday dinner here last Sat. night. Our meal choices were varied, bratwurst, schnitzel and pork hocks. All the food was excellent. Staff was very friendly and efficient. The only complainet we have is there was also a very large party there and it was very noisy. I would definately recommend the Black Forest to others.

Have been dining here for over 15 years, whenever we visit Harrison. While the food is always great - our last visit really surprised with how little care is taken any where else. Carpets are old, although even a vacuum would help - and the bathroom was pretty appalling. Staff poked in their head and said everything okay in here - I quickly said no and they just short of shrugged - we saw no one go to tend plugged toilets or downed cloth rollers on the hands dryer. While there is charm in the decor indeed, many things now seem to have become downright ratty. The service was definitely so rushed it was rude - and it’s tough to pay nearly four bucks a soda at a place with no free refills and a 500ml glass that is still mostly ice.

Some things really aren’t what they used to be :(

Were in town celebrating our anniversary during a snow storm late Dec 2017. Had a reservation showed up early , was seated right away anyway which was impressive. Place was packed with all sorts of groups, couples etc. Staff was super friendly made us feel welcome. Both ordered the schnitzel (it is available a dozen or more ways) arrived quickly was delicious and healthy portion. The wine was wonderful and fairly priced.

A really nice efficiently run operation. I would definitely recommend dining here and will again when next in town.

If in Harrison Hot Springs this is a must go place to eat. The food was excellent and service great. It is centrally located on the main street. Use the Open Table app to reserve otherwise you might just find yourself in a line for seating.
