never a bad time here, never a bad meal, great BYOB option as well
Server not welcoming. We had to ask his name. Asked for water several times. Server not aware of specials running out til after placing order. 1st course salad. Just ok. $34 rib eye ordered medium rare. Came out medium in the middle but outside border line burnt. Very tuff. The oddest part of the experience is when you bring a white wine they offer a bucket of ice. They put the wine in the bucket on the floor next to our table. A bit unsanitary. We won’t be going back to soon.
Too noisy. Tables too close together and you can hear the person next to you conversation. Poor main meal menu options.
Menu diverse to satisfy anyone’s tastes
Only issue is getting your burger cooked the way you request. Tendency to over cook.

Pretty good food and ambiance. Service was excellent. Portions were larger than I expected, though. Did not realize it is BYOB. Since they served NJ wines, had my first NJ wine, a Pinot Grigio.
Great and creative food, service, and atmosphere - as usual. Prix fixe menu is a bargain, and all the dishes exceeded my guests' expectations. Melanie provided great service, and the old brick atmosphere is just wonderful. Portions are very large. Rigatoni bolognese is to die for, as always. Asian Cesar salad is terrific. Giant pork chop w/fresh roasted peach sauce was absolutely perfect. Wonderful restaurant that shows great creativity, quality, and care. BYOB is also a plus - didn't think of trying the limited NJ wines they offer.
Excellent service-attentive,but not rushed or overbearing. Lively, casual atmosphere. Generous portions, but some sauces were a little sweet for our tastes, eg.thise on fried calamari and short rib. Haddock special was very well prepared.

We have been regulars at Bistro for years and never had a bad experience. We arrived for our 6:30 reservation 15 minutes early. I requested our regular waiter in advance and a 4 top table (if available) in advance. We got neither. The front doors were open, the AC did not seem to be working, and they sat us upstairs against a wall where the heat and humidity were oppressive. We decided to leave when I saw our usual waiter (Travis), and he managed to get us a table closer to the front where there was some air coming in. Other than Travis, the service and food were not as good as usual. Our salad came without plates or serving utensils. The french fries were cooked, but limp from not being drained well. Both my husband and I ordered the pork rib entree special which was delicious. We will be back as this experience was an exception, not the norm.
The waitstaff is exceptional here. I have not been more welcomed and serviced this well in a very long time. Fish & Chips lunch portion was small but tasty.
They have changed the menu - no more angel hair pasta!
The steak was just okay.
I had the crawfish special and I was not over the moon with it. First the waiter explained the dish came with eggplant - when it arrived it was clearly zucchini (language confusion perhaps). Ok - vegetable was delicious. but the dish overall was soupy. great taste but somehow not what I expected. So rather than finding the dish even better than imagined it was good, not great. Just a comment. Overall the experience was very nice.
The place was quite loud and hot. Food was decent. Not sure I'd go there again for dinner on a Friday expecting to have conversation with friends. Left with my ears ringing.

Food was ok. My husband ordered a special (eggplant stack) and the eggplant was undercooked and tough like raw apples. He sent it back (an absolute first for him), and the waiter accepted it fine but nobody offered an apology and they certainly didn’t rush on the replacement dish. The Caesar salad was good and the spaghetti and ravioli were pretty good too. We tried the dry rose on offer and it was tasty. With so many options in Red Bank, nothing really stood out that would demand a return. Seemed like they were going through the motions with no real desire to do more than that. Unfortunate, but I guess others agree as it was fairly empty on a summer Friday night.
Remember when this downtown Red Bank restaurant opened. It became a local hotspot and was known for its creativity. Looking for a place for after theater today on Open table, I was surprised to see multiple open reservations for dinner. Oh how fickle the public is. When I arrived it was filled with families. Though the menu retains its creative flair, it has been simplified. Many items including the ones that I had seen on its website menu were no longer available. We chose the shrimp and sweet potato dumplings, the Peking duck salad (one salad is enough for two people), the drunken shrimp and mushroom pasta and finally the lamb special. All were well prepared and very tasty. Service is attentive; after all the restaurant wasn’t full. In the end, I will likely return when in Red Bank the next time.

Food was outstanding. The waiter was good however he rarely checked on us which was rare fo theBistro. At times we were over whelmed with empty plates and one of our friends steak that he ordered which was a special for that evening ordered it to be cooked medium and it came out well done. So he was only able to eat the center.
Other then that food was mouth watering and we had a great time.

The Bistro is our favorite restaurant in the area. We go often because the food is always excellent and the service is great. Everyone is very friendly and the atmosphere is perfect. We sat outside with our friends on a beautiful evening and walked down to Marine Park afterwards.

The food was amazing! Everyone in our party was very pleased. Really enjoyed the Poke Bowl, grilled octopus, rigatoni bolognese, and the ice cream sandwiches! And it’s BYOB!!!
Had a great dinner on Mother’s Day — not a day I typically like to go to a restaurant because it can be so busy and rushed. Not here! We never felt pressured to hurry. Food was terrific and the service was great! I was not aware ahead of time that there would be a special Mother’s Day menu, but there was good variety on the special menu and we all (four) were quite happy.
I pass this restaurant every time I’m driving through Red Bank, NJ & Mother’s Day turned out to be the best opportunity to eat there.
The main dishes are very good but their braised short rib was excellent. I highly recommend this dish.
Their desserts are good too. Creme brûlée feeds up to two people & their chip sandwich is very good.
Staff was helpful & attentive which made the day special for my mom.
There was a bug on the lettuce in my sandwich. Waiter blatantly ignored us when we called him over once or twice. They forgot the spiced pecans in my friend's salad. Would not return based on this experience.
Limited vegetarian option. You can’t get wine by the glass, only the bottle The bread was not good
