Great food, some of the best we’ve had in Banff but certainly comes with the Banff price tag $$! Great atmosphere (request a seat by the window for a great view of the mountains) and great cocktails. Would recommend for a special occasion or date night!
Great food and excellent service. The open kitchen is very cool and the commitment to sourcing local ingredients is a big deal. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
The food was terrific. We had bread, beets, caesar salad & the bison striploin. No dessert, too full. Thank you so much.
I absolutely loved the ambiance and the food - Our wine was excpetional as well! Can't wait to go back.
The food was very good and design of space inviting. We ordered cocktails and then our entrees. The food came very soon after receiving our cocktails, so service seemed a bit rushed. We could have said we were not in a rush, however, the server should be able to gauge this through conversation. We are from out of town, but if traveling back would go again.
Was better before the renovations and menu change. Seems like they now prefer complex foodie dishes over actually making something that tastes good. The pairings were strange and the value for money was poor.
Nothing on menu jumped out at ys so i ordered the farm trout. It wasn’t cooked through and tasted like farm fish. My partner ordered the 7oz steak which wad just shy of $50. Really? In banff? Portions were very small - esp considering prices and after a full day skiing could of certainly used more food. Bar dropped and broke stuff about three times while dining. Not sure whats up there? Beautiful reno to the space but baded on pricing, seems like they want to recoup costs quick !
A top notch establishment. The food is exceptional as is the service.
I felt that the food was oversalted and the service was insincere. We received wrong items ordered, the wrong bill cold water for tea and coffee.
Food was delicious but when you order medium rare for main dish (58 CAD) and you get well done.... I could have changed but did not want my partner to eat alone.
Taste was great, Service a Little bit too offensive but dishes not very big and thus too expensive for what you get.
Nevertheless it is recommendable if you don’t care to spend 200 bucks for an one hour experience with three courses.... like everywhere in US and Canada.... quick quick quick
Fantastic experience all around. The food was amazing! The staff were great. Shawna was our server and she was fantastic as were all of the staff. We were really impressed with everyone’s knowledge of all of the ingredients. We had never been here before and everything was explained to us from the time of seating to the time the food arrived. I didn’t catch everyone’s names, but the woman running the food was really great in explaining everything as she set it down also. We don’t treat ourselves to a meal like this often, but I’m so happy we choose the Bison for a special night out.
Thank you for serving us for our little celey!
Great service!! Recently changed menu and chef. Enjoyed our dinner however preferred the menu and our meals on our previous visits.
Great food but not many food options in the menu. Most of the items are overpriced and I didn't feel I was getting the value for my money.
Really awesome experience. Food was great. Same with service.
Just stunning! Everything was great, very tasty local food, great service and welcome to the restaurant. Definitely a 5 star
The Bison is an incredible place to eat and the service was amazing.
We originally made a reservation for 6:30pm but were extremely hungry a half hour before then and they had zero problems accommodating our growling stomachs.
Our waitress was amiable and great at recommending a few things to try as well as answering any questions we had regarding the menu.
We ordered the elk tartare, the bison striploin, and prime beef tenderloin. All three were amazing. The sous vide steak was perfectly cooked and had an amazing char and the bison was melt in your mouth. The elk tartare was especially nice - delicate and visually well done.
If you get a chance to eat at The Bison, please do so - you won't regret it! From two Texans we can assure you they do meat right!
This meal while lovely was over $700 for 5 people and my son had a burger and the wine was $120. The bison was mediocre at best as was my chicken. The best part was the ambiance.
Went for a business dinner and during the reservation process, let them know about a member of our party having food allergies. Not only were they more than accommodating but the waitress had even researched the allergies and was ready with food suggestions once we arrived. Truly outstanding service and thoughtfulness.
It was my first time coming to this restaurant and I took my boyfriend here for his birthday dinner, we had a fantastic dinner and a lovely bottle of Prosecco, our server was great and I would go back there again.
Great food and drinks. Price was right for the quality of the food.
Adam is the man. The rest of the staff was great too. The food and cocktails were delicious. My wife and I vacationed in the area for four nights, and this was our favorite meal of the trip. Very nice restaurant but not too fancy.
Stayed a week in Banff visited 2 times wish I’d discovered earlier would have booked for every night . Fabulous service totally amazing rib of beef ( for two) best ever tasted (travelled worldwide and would take some beating ) wish had read up and known about chucks hey ho have to come back , 😃
Elk tartare and bison short rib were fantastic. They did not have what I really wanted, the Alberta bison striploin, but that was out of their hands. I dined at the bar, bartender Brayden was great, as were all employees with whom I interacted.
Really lovely restaurant!! All locally sourced. Deliciously organized menu. We sat near the kitchen and saw all the food being prepared. Unfortunately, they were out of the Alberta Bison but the beef tenderloin was perfectly cooked with an interesting coco bean mash. We had 2 mains (Bison short rib+tenderloin), 3 drinks (gin all sourced from the local distilleries) and milk & honey donuts to share - the bill came to $120 + tip. Music was at a respectable volume to hold a conversation. Would recommend to anyone travelling into Banff for a nice meal out.
I have celebrated MANY milestones at The Bison. I can't go to Banff without visiting for Brunch or Dinner. Fabulous cocktails, kindly attend to any dietary restrictions (my girlfriend is GF and DF, and garlic free, and she could have plenty, and they didn't groan!), and they are great with kids (we've brought 2 toddlers there many times). LOVE the renovation! Open, bright, you can hear the people around you but still absorb the vibrant energy of the space.
Outstanding food and service!
Wow. Creative and yummy. Best place we ate in Banff and Lake Louise.
Food was excellent and delicious and our waiter Ryan made a delicious negroni. Would come again anytime.
Good atmosphere, great food and wine selection, excellent service.
A wonderful gem in Banff. Upscale casual feel. Very comfortable and classy ambiance. Friendly and professional service. Delectable dishes, excellent selection of wines. Perfect for a date or special occasion.
Nice restaurant, lovely eclectic menu. Small plates were yummy. Tried the bison short ribs and found the meat rather tough (?not slow cooked enough?). Wine selection good but excessive markup. Waiter good but tended to push expensive items and was not very warm.
The steak was not cook properly and the veggies was burned.
Very small portion and expensive for what you get
I loved the appetizers and desert. Great vegetarian options. My husband found there were too many toppings on his burger. 7 dollars for tea was a little much, but still tasty.
Just perfect... :)
Amazing food! Great service. Ask for Jessie - knowledgeable, patient and amazing!
All the criticism of recent reviews was accurate. Although the service was excellent, the portions were extremely small (especially for the cost) and the appetizer and mains came out one on top of the other, feeling rushed. We ordered cocktails and neither of them were enjoyable. The description of my drink in the menu was not accurate (described as though it would be sour and citrus but was actually quite syrupy and overly sweet). The dessert was completely fine but not redeeming enough. Our server was absolutely lovely and the ambience was nice but I would not go back.
We were disappointed. The food is pricey and mediocre at best. Same for the dull wone list. My group is well traveled and quite knowledgable about food and wine. We were all expecting a fantastic meal but everything came up short.
With an open kitchen with a pricey menu you would expect professional chefs not the kids texting as they leaned over their stations. It is clear that who ever owns this restaurant lacks the leadership to make this a great eating establishment.
My husband and I had dinner here after a day skiing at Sunshine Mt. While visiting Banff. We loved the food, the entertainment of the open kitchen and our server was excellent!
