The safety of our staff, our guests and our community is our main concern in these unprecedented times and we believe social distancing gives us all the safest and fastest route thru this outbreak.
Let's all do our part to flatten the curve.
Stay safe and hope to see you all again soon!
loved it! Friendly staff very welcoming, great food
The food and service were both great with some cool choices. I like the idea of having breakfast for dinner every once in awhile and the Beltliner has a great selection. We will definitely be back!
I had a few personal requests and they met all of them to make our night special. Thank you, Beltliner!
My experience at The Beltliner was excellent. Will be back to try their lunch breakfast menu.
Limited menu but outstanding in every other aspect.
A bit of a hidden patio gem...for you and your dog! They offer a 2 course meal for your dog with a tasty meatloaf for the pup (its good I tasted it) and dessert. It was quieter than the 17th Av patios which I appreciated!
One of the best restaurants we’ve been too in a long time, always amazing service, fantastic atmosphere and the food is always 10/10!!
We sat on the patio. We had our two kids and our dog. This was our first time at Beltliner, we will definitely be back! The food was delicious, it is diner food but elevated. The dog menus is such a nice touch.
Dinner was amazing and the staff is always warm and welcoming. Members of the LGBTQ+ community will find this diner particularly welcoming as there are numerous identifiers (flags etc) around and one of the servers mentioned that the staff have all undergone diversity training.
Good for kids
Found that the service was only mediocre. Lots of empty tables. We were a table of six so 20% gratuity was automatically added to bill. Unfortunately the service was not 20%. Food was fair. The turkey sandwich came out late and was cold. Higher expectations but won’t be returning.
The fiood was good but the crust on the Saskatoon pie was so hard we could not chew it. They charged us a Built in tip cause we were a table of 6 but never waited on us much Even though at 4 pm we were the only table there on a Saturday. Never asked to refill our drinks. We had a ton of fruit type flies that kept buzzing around our table it was annoying. Our bill was expensive- .a piece of Pie alone with a small scoop of ice cream was $12. We will not be going back. Not worth $86 for 2 people for diner food. My brother paid $122 for 3 of them and my moms bill was $40. Way too pricey.
Great staff and food was awesome, gravy was a bit bland with chicken and waffles but it was still good!
We were quite early, around 5pm so the restaurant was empty. I would imagine that it could get quite loud in the later evening.
We ordered sandwiches with fries or soup. The sandwiches were excellent as were the fries. The tomato soup that my daughter ordered had a very strong smoky flavour. We enjoy smoked things, but this tasted more burnt than smoke seasoned.
Otherwise it was a nice quiet meal.
This is my go-to diner. I like their fresh brewed iced tea. Excellent grilled cheese.
My wife is celiac and they have a good selection for her. The local gluten free bread they use is excellent
Not included in the categories is breakfast which I also recommend.
I’ve only been here for breakfast. That being said, I shouldn’t be surprised at the quality of the food, but it was excellent.
I keep wanting to like this restaurant and I think their breakfast is fairly good but overall their menu items have been generally disappointing and that disappointment is accentuated by the high price tag for what you get.
Great appies. Mains were a great size to fill us up. Awesome chicken and waffles, meatloaf and pot pies.
Saskatoon pie a la mode topped off the meal
Service was friendly and not too overbearing. Nice job Beltliner.
Awesome family restaurant.
Beltliner will always be one of my favourite spots for brunch (always worth the drive) but our dinners were mediocre (not very flavourful and overly salty) and I likely wouldn’t do dinner there again. But I look forward to brunching there again very soon! And as alway, the staff were lovely!
The Beltliner is a solid choice for brunch or dinner. Pie, rootbeer floats and classic diner fare are complemented by a great cocktail menu, clever appetizers (perogies with donair sauce!), and adorable features (like bills delivered in children’s books).
Love the relaxed and friendly atmosphere of this place. Great food and good value. The Cesar bar is a must to try!
Awesome food. Took a little time for the server to get to us and then she had forgotten drinks for the kids. Generally very impressed tho.
Our burger was undercooked as pink inside and we where told that’s how they are done and we didn’t ask for it well done... waitress was super rude.
10/10 amazing comfort food and fantastic service. Great atmo, overall an awesome place to just have a casual lunch or dinner. The tomato soup is unreal.
Excellent hearty food and great service!
The Beltliner has never disappointed for brunch. So I thought let's try it for dinner (which I'd only done once 3 yrs ago).
They've nailed diner ambiance.
The food was tasty. I had grilled cheese + tomato soup which was fantastic. The bread was perfectly toasted and they did not skimp on the cheese. The tomato soup was full of flavour and delicious.
I also took a slice of their Saskatoon berry pie home (delish as always). I love that they have pie by the slice.
Noise level doesnt allow for whispered conversation but you don't have to shout.
Had a great dinner with family and friends
Overall everything was great, clean friendly etc etc but the food was terrible. I got the clubhouse and it tasted very old and stale, the chicken was below subpar, dry and tasteless. For $20 I expect more. My partner got the chicken and waffles, the waffles were excellent but the chicken on the other hand was burnt and flavourless once again. Perogie poutine was great although once again pricey!
Overall solid menu ...my wife and I enjoyed the “diner” ambience.
And...easily the BEST pie I’ve had since my Moms cooking - the Saskatoon berry pie was delicious..and made of real berries. Super tasty with a great crust.
I’m going back for more....

The music is not necessary for your restaurant. You need to keep patrons in order if they are bothering staff and other cusp.
I have been here before, but this will be the last time I ever eat here.
It took over an hour for our food to be ready when the diner was not busy. We had four adults and 2 babies, but they counted us as a table of 6 and added on the mandatory 20% gratuity for parties of 6 or more. I would have had no issues with this if the service wasn't so poor - when we first arrived at the restaurant, we had to stand at the door for over 5 minutes while there was only one table with customers and the servers talked amongst themselves instead of greeting customers. The wait for our food was ridiculous and the quality of food was mediocre.
I feel like it was better when they first opened and have now gone down hill a bit.
I love Beltliner food and have been there for lunch with no issues. The food is so tasty and I love the patio.
I was only disappointed by this last outing bc extra costs were not communicated to us by the server. I always appreciate a server letting me know when refills cost extra or if a dietary need will cost more.
Delicious comfort food and excellent service. We were a group of eight including a baby and toddler, and the servers were so accommodating. We had a great table with plenty of room for us and the stroller. The food was yummy. We had fried pickles, perogy poutine, nachos, chicken and waffles, and the merguez and eggs and every dish was delicious.
The Waffles & Fried Chicken are CRAZY good. Second time we'd been in the past month . . .'nuf said 'bout the food. We had the Caesar Salad. It was good but I'm not a fan of waffle squares as croutons . . . seem like soggy croutons.
They could be quicker in getting the food to you . . . seemed like the kitchen was a little slow in getting the meals out. The atmosphere is good.
We'll be back. . . when the craving for Waffles & Fried Chicken hits again.
This restaurant came recommended by a coworker and basically every person on CBC radio Calgary. I was really looking forward to eating at the Beltliner and maybe this high expectation was the reason why I ended up so disappointed. The food was just okay, regular type cafe food but very pricey which can be accounted for its downtown Calgary location and its quality ingredients.
We ordered soup, salad and a sandwich. The large plates give the illusion of large portion size but the flat shallow salad left me a little hungrier than 19 dollar salad should have.
All of this aside the reason I ended up most disappointed with the Beltliner was the service. The wait staff seemed almost bothered by our being there. Even with the restaurant being nearly empty we were ignored and provided very little service.
I believe that this could have been just an off night for the place and from what I hear does an awesome job of brunch.
The restaurant was quiet when we arrived. It was early for dinner, so that was nice. The waitress was attentive from the start and after the meal arrived, but once it was dinner time and the place got busier, she seemed to forget about us. She never asked us if we'd like anything else, she never cleared the last of the plates. We never received our bill to the table and we had to go to the front counter to get someone's attention so we could pay and leave.
Great food and ambiance. Loved how they did hash browns; was not expecting that! Only downfall is some dinners from another table went outside to smoke, and didn't go to far from the entrance, so had the nasty smell of cigarette smoke wafting in whenever someone entered or exited. But other than that, it was a great experience and great food.
First time at the beltliner and I wanted to like it! I enjoyed the tall boy roulette (though my first tall boy was a coors banquet 😟) but it was a good deal and kind of fun... my issue was with the vegetarian options. Now, I realize that vegetarians in Calgary can't complain when they know what they're getting in to... but I was disappointed that a $15 veggie burger didn't actually include a patty of any kind! It was a bun with a portobello mushroom, a fried egg, some veggies, and some sauces... that seems like such a missed opportunity! There are only a few veggie items on the menu, you could at least make those few options worthwhile. If I go back, it won't be for the veggie burger...
I've always found that Beltliner is a great destination for brunch on the weekends, impressive variety of dishes wonderfully prepared, terrific service, like the atmosphere. I was pretty sure I'd enjoy it for dinner so this was my pick when a friend invited me to a performance at the new Decidedly Jazz Danceworks theatre, 3 blocks away. It was terrific - when we walked in the door she said oh, great choice! and this was even before she had seen the menu. We both enjoyed our meals and our evening. I know you'll enjoy your experience, too. :)
