What Insiders Are Saying
A solid, non-tavern restaurant has finally made its way to Ventura Blvd.
Great food great service. We had a lovely time!!
I'd never had a lamb sausage dish served at room temperature before. I don't think I'd want to try it again. The french fries that they're known for were very good and the wine list had some good choices.
Food was good an innovative. The pasta was delicious! Prime rib too big with all the other items we choose. Dessert was a huge disappointment. Do not use crunchy peaches in a cobbler. Fruit should be ripe for best flavor. But if you going to add unripe fruit, cook it until it is tender. Peaches should never be served crunchy
Great HH FROM 5-6!
Celebrated my husband’s birthday here and had an incredible time! The steak tartare and the burrata with grapes were incredible! We also had the handmade cavatelli with wild boar—delicious! everything was perfect, highly recommend!
The menu is creative and the food delicious. Fun to share different plates and have the opportunity to taste a variety of dishes.
Only problem we ran into both times we have been there is the noise level. Otherwise we enjoyed it immensely!
I enjoy going to a restaurant that changes their menu frequently enough that I want to go back to see what is new. Lots of plates to share, the chicken was delicious!
The service was great and the food even better. We had started with the Burrata and Grapes which was fantastic and then had the Tempura Cauliflower which was really tasty. The Patty Melt and French fries were absolutely awesome and the bread pudding for dessert was the perfect way to top off the meal.
This restaurant is in our neighborhood so we decided to give it a try. We sat outside and it was moderately loud but we were able to hear our conversation. The staff was friendly and laidback, there was no rush to get us out of the restaurant-which was nice. The food was delicious and the cranberry mules were great. We also liked that you can order small plates and share them. I would go back.
The food was as delicious as I remembered from previous visits.
Great atmosphere but food did not wow. Loved that everything was shareable so great for a girls night out!
Food was very good - most dishes works, especially the octopus and and vegetarian dishes. However, service was kind of rushed, which doesn't work for a tapas place.
We had a great meal at Bellweather. Ordered a couple too many dishes, but everything was top notch. Service was great and the vibe is right. Bravo!
It’s surprising that this restaurant isn’t more popular, given most of the other gastropubs in the area are continually stuffed to the rafters, but it was oddly empty when we visited (a Sunday night). The menu sounds like it was written by a “foodologist” rather than a chef, but it tastes fantastic so we forgave them that.
The food and service are excellent. Lots of fun, great service and especially recommend the french fries
The only thing we weren’t blown away by was the thing that we had originally went there for! After seeing there patty melt on Jonathan Gold’s 101 list, we were determined to try it, and we tried everything we could. Charred octopus? Phenomenal. I wasn’t in love with the sides but my boyfriend loved them, the actual tentacle itself was cooked perfectly. The duck was great, with a ju that wasn’t too overwhelming, as well as the meatballs (very flavorful and very filling). We ended up going to the Patty melt last and the bread was drier than cardboard, and a little too toasted in some spots. It was a dim way to end, but the blackberry cocktail was great, the service was attentive, and I imagine that the rest of there menu is decadent. If you’re looking for a new place to go and don’t mind dropping a couple hundred on a casual meal, I’d highly recommend giving it a try.
Love the food! Sitting at the Chefs counter is also great, watching them prepare all of the amazing dishes!
I really loved everythig we ordered. I will be back soon.
Great food, loved the share portions, very tasty and resonable
Always love the new dishes, and the BEST patty melt.
Amazing food, drink, staff, and service. You will not be disappointed.
The food was really good, and I highly recommend this restaurant. Of the dishes our group tried (cauliflower, octopus, beef tartar, patty melt, french fries, meatballs, fried chicken) my favorites were the cauliflower and the french fries. Our server made me a spicy margarita with jalapeños (not on the menu), and it was fabulous. The meatballs were a tad too salty, and the octopus would have been better if it had been charred a bit more and with perhaps a less heavy sauce. All in all, a really great restaurant, and I will definitely be back. Particular thanks to our server, who was so accommodating and charming.
We come here a lot. One of my favorites. We always look forward to the R&D menu. The food is always amazing. It’s all about the charred octopus, the hanger steak and the crudo. We’ll be back again and again.
Wonderful and efficient wait service made it special. I would go back for that alone. Food was good, not exceptional but some interesting choices. Altogether a good experience.
Always a worthwhile visit and exceptionally fun to bring new people.
Food was very tasty but it was seriously noisy. it was crazy loud music outside and not much variety on the menu at all
The tapas style food was amazing, fresh, flavorful and tasty. Seems as if they have a rotating menu but I highly recommend the peaches and barata if it’s still available. Great and authentic cocktails as well.
The food was good. Service was really good. I had limited menu, as I’m Celiac, but they accommodated me well. Wine was fabulous.
Our group was very disappointed in the food. And some of us were also troubled by the attitude of management in handling our complaints. We were expecting finer dining and what we ended up getting was barbecue quality small plates. When the women in our group complained about under cooked vegetables, the owner had the audacity to suggest that next time when we order the dish we asked for it to be cooked well done meeting cooked. That did not sit well and things got worse from there. Maybe we caught them on an off night but honestly we were expecting a much better food experience than this.
My husband and I went for an early dinner and by the time we left, the place was packed. The tempura cauliflower was a bit soggy/heavy but everything else was very good. The shrimp and soba noodle salad was a standout. Service was fantastic; very attentive without being overbearing. The prices were about what you’d expect for small plates, which is to say a little high but comparable to everywhere else. We’ll definitely be back.
Nice feel, very interesting and tasty food and great friendly service.
Would definitely recommend and return
This was a perfect for our "friends catch up" evening. The food was absolutely delicious and wonderfully presented, as were the drinks. Great for the 4 of us as we were able to get a variety of dishes with no left overs. Inside the noise level was way too loud for conversation but we ate outside and it was a perfect evening.
Delicious food, so flavorful. Attentive, but not invasive service. It was a little loud. I'm sure that's due to the small dining area and popularity of the place. It was packed on a Tuesday. Really worth visiting.
If you make a reservation through Open Table they told us our table choice wasore limited than calling directly. Overall very average
Went for birthday dinner with the lacto-pescaterian wife. (dairy & fish only) Menu was somewhat limited for her. We shared a fabulous peaches and burrata salad and shrimp with soba noodles. I also had the patty melt which was quite good. They tend to go spicy with the sauces but were happy to do them "on the side".
Having never been here I did not know what to expect and I was only moderately hungry as was my friend. All dishes are meant to share and the portion sizes were great for 2 - the butter lettuce salad with avocado and grapefruit pieces was terrific with a light drizzle of a lemon vinaigrette. For our second and final dish we chose soba noodles with shrimp and a sesame dressing . Fabulous! Despite tempting desserts we were full . There is a full bar available as well . Loved the service and loved the food! A local hit!
Fantastic food. The expediter was super kind and let us know what was what when we reserved counter seats so we could get a view of the chef (and staff) cooking. Great food, not a pretentious place at all. I am lame, cause I ate so fast I didn't take any photos.
Burrata and Peaches: Perfect combo of flavours, peaches were perfectly ripe, the puffed farro was a very nice touch. Really great combination and the puffed farro was an different take on this dish. Rating: Super Yummm.
Tempura Cauliflower: Incredibly tasty and loved that this was not ANOTHER buffalo cauliflower dish. The Thai twist on the dipping couldn't have been more perfect, and the tempura batter was nice and light. Loved it. Super Yummm.
Charred Eggplant: This was a bit odd - it was just glorified babaganoush with vinaigrette tossed into the freekeh. Regardless, dill was also involved, and the balance on the smokey taste of eggplant with the freekeh was quite beautifully balanced if you're a savory person. Yum.
Hanger Steak: PERFECTLY cooked medium rare, and beautifully plated on top of a divine romesco. Ok y'all. Call me stupid, but i've never had hanger steak with romesco and it was absolutely amazing. The sliced almonds gave it a unique and scrumptious texture. Really loved this dish.Super, Super Yummmm.
