About The Bee's Knees
Traditionally, tapas dishes have been associated with
Spanish cuisine. However at THE BEE"S KNEES, we take a global approach that encompasses various cultures and flavors from around the world. From Thai to Spanish, Cajun to Mediterranean and Japanese to French, we have selected a menu to please the palate.
Our many vegan, vegetarian, poultry and seafood dishes are accented by our extensive selection of
beer, wine, spirits, sake, coffee, and tea.
The name, The Bee's Knees, itself has it's own curious meaning. Taken from 1920's jazz influenced slang,
it refers to the "hip" or the "cool" thing such as "The Cat's Meow".

The Bee's Knees Ratings and Reviews
My brother, my aunt and I had dinner at Bee's Knees on Wednesday, Valentine's Day. My aunt was in town after my mom's passing and the holiday happened to fall during our planning. Brooke was our server. The food was phenomenal, and the service was attentive, polite, and friendly. We had an overall great experience. Thank you Brooke!
We had the tuna carpaccio, avocado chop chop (sub crab), crab & artichoke dip, quesadilla, panang, beet/pear/goatchz, amd buffalo tempeh. Drinks were great too!
I was a bit disappointed with the bees knees. Don't get me wrong. It was not bad, it was passable to good, but I just expected more. I had the brunch-wich and it was good... but it could have been scrumptious with 3 thing. 1- good, fresh, artisan bread, not just regular sliced bread. 2- more arugula! Arugula has such great presents and flavor, don't skimp! 3- fruit salad on the side, with fresh fruits. The price I paid was worth the above sandwich, but I didn't get it. The sandwich I got was passable, but far from exceptional.
Also, the staff spoke so quietly, I couldn't even hear them. I understand trying to be cozy, but the hostesses went way too far. I had to ask twice what she said.
Again eating in a non-chain restaurant is the way to go in downtown Augusta Ga.
that being said just around the corner from the last review I sent in is this little place called the bees knees.
The food is eclectic tapas. You are doing your self a disservice if you don’t enjoy this hidden spot.
The service is on point, the food is just delicious. Please go and stay local, you won’t be disappointed.
Fantastic meal. We were in town for a concert in downtown Augusta on Saturday 1/6.
We had the smoked Gouda nachos, baked avocado, crab and artichoke dip, tuna carpaccio, and goat cheese bruschetta. All five of these were fantastic and our service was very very good.
The bar service was very good. I believe they have been in business for about 15 years now.
Met both the owner and also one of the managers and they do a great job in promoting a great atmosphere and a staff that works well together.
We went for Sunday brunch before a show. We both ordered the chicken and waffles. The waffle was AMAZEBALLS! it was so light and fluffy. The chicken, on the other hand, had a really thick batter on it that was cooked to death. We really thought we were going to break a tooth. The chicken underneath was dry and had no seasoning. It was great in concept, but poor in execution.
We also ordered a carafe of the house spicy bloody maries. It was ok, but waaaay to much pickle juice.
Our server was great- going out of her way to look up something on her phone for us.
I truly feel for the wait-staff and servers: the seating is tight and they managed gracefully, tactfully, and carefully. Interesting combinations and fun to be able to share. Reminder: Tapas -style needs additional cutlery to share. Prosecco from the tap was flat, but house Chardonnay was fine. Shrimp quesadilla w shrimp was surprisingly good. Be aware: All items were on the salty-side, but water refills are plentiful when staff can reach table. Lively and hip atmosphere. Worth revisiting. Plentiful parking nearby.
My meal was terrible. I had to ask for my drink several times, the wait staff worked in pairs and neither seemed to communicate. I found a hair in my crab dip. Therr weren't enough tiny baguettes and when asked for more, they brought 4. It was ridiculous. The check i was presented was 25. I handed my card, they took 10 minutes to swipe it and the reciept said 28. I'm not sure when it became okay to charge someone more than you tell them but rather than clarify with me they wanted to be deceitful and not mention it at all. Very unprofessional and probably illegal. Its only 3.00 so i dont see the issue in telling me of an additional charge on my ticket the server forgot!
The food was awesome and so was the atomsphere! Our server was horrible. Susan was her name maybe. Brunette with glasses. She wasn’t talkative, friendly and just seemed as she was rushing us. We could order one drink and one app at a time and she would just take off and not show back up for another 10-20 mins at a time. It’s a tapas restaurant so of course we wanted to order a bunch a different things. We just began ordering from the bartenders and other serves as well. We are also bartenders and serves so we know the “struggle” but y’all weren’t even busy.
