About The Bee's Knees
Traditionally, tapas dishes have been associated with
Spanish cuisine. However at THE BEE"S KNEES, we take a global approach that encompasses various cultures and flavors from around the world. From Thai to Spanish, Cajun to Mediterranean and Japanese to French, we have selected a menu to please the palate.
Our many vegan, vegetarian, poultry and seafood dishes are accented by our extensive selection of
beer, wine, spirits, sake, coffee, and tea.
The name, The Bee's Knees, itself has it's own curious meaning. Taken from 1920's jazz influenced slang,
it refers to the "hip" or the "cool" thing such as "The Cat's Meow".

The Bee's Knees Ratings and Reviews
We went for Sunday brunch before a show. We both ordered the chicken and waffles. The waffle was AMAZEBALLS! it was so light and fluffy. The chicken, on the other hand, had a really thick batter on it that was cooked to death. We really thought we were going to break a tooth. The chicken underneath was dry and had no seasoning. It was great in concept, but poor in execution.
We also ordered a carafe of the house spicy bloody maries. It was ok, but waaaay to much pickle juice.
Our server was great- going out of her way to look up something on her phone for us.
I truly feel for the wait-staff and servers: the seating is tight and they managed gracefully, tactfully, and carefully. Interesting combinations and fun to be able to share. Reminder: Tapas -style needs additional cutlery to share. Prosecco from the tap was flat, but house Chardonnay was fine. Shrimp quesadilla w shrimp was surprisingly good. Be aware: All items were on the salty-side, but water refills are plentiful when staff can reach table. Lively and hip atmosphere. Worth revisiting. Plentiful parking nearby.
My meal was terrible. I had to ask for my drink several times, the wait staff worked in pairs and neither seemed to communicate. I found a hair in my crab dip. Therr weren't enough tiny baguettes and when asked for more, they brought 4. It was ridiculous. The check i was presented was 25. I handed my card, they took 10 minutes to swipe it and the reciept said 28. I'm not sure when it became okay to charge someone more than you tell them but rather than clarify with me they wanted to be deceitful and not mention it at all. Very unprofessional and probably illegal. Its only 3.00 so i dont see the issue in telling me of an additional charge on my ticket the server forgot!
The food was awesome and so was the atomsphere! Our server was horrible. Susan was her name maybe. Brunette with glasses. She wasn’t talkative, friendly and just seemed as she was rushing us. We could order one drink and one app at a time and she would just take off and not show back up for another 10-20 mins at a time. It’s a tapas restaurant so of course we wanted to order a bunch a different things. We just began ordering from the bartenders and other serves as well. We are also bartenders and serves so we know the “struggle” but y’all weren’t even busy.
Bee's Knees has a relaxed ,urban artsy vibe with an interior brick wall, candles on the tables and locally made pottery mugs for hot tea. The food is very flavorful and visually appealing. Most importantly they sometimes have really great live music. Don't go if you are in a rush or on a tight budget. The place is meant for relaxing and having a quality time.
We went for brunch on Sunday. The breakfast burrito had no eggs or meat. Was mostly filled with potatoes. There were no alcoholic beverages on the menu, so we thought alcohol was not an option. Our 15 year old daughter ordered pancakes and we were asked if she wanted one or two?? Really, we have never paid for one pancake for that price EVER. Will not return or recommend to our friends/neighbors.
We have been here before and enjoyed the place although it has been a couple of years. Our recent experience was not great, we actually left half way through dinner. We never saw the same waittress twice, could never get an order placed and had to wait 15-20 mins for a drink. Finally, we just decided that we'd be better off to walk down the street and find another place to continue our dining.
We had Sunday brunch after church today. Our meal options included chicken and waffles, hotcakes, chicken sausage and biscuits with a side of turkey bacon, and shrimp and grits with coffee. Alec was our waiter and he was amazing! Our food was local when possible, fresh and hot and the coffee was organic and strong. We enjoyed our breakfast and it was a quick turnaround.
