Wonderful dinner and service as always. A Memphis gem!
They were out of the first 4 selections we ordered. The server did not know when we were ordering so she would take the order and then come back for us to try again. The food and service were at best sub-par.
The French toast was so burnt it was hard to cut and the Mexican Brunch was inedible. Not worth the wait or the money.
this is a spot i go often. one of my favorites in the city!
We enjoyed the food. But the hostess was not very gracious. Even though we booked a week in advance for a special occasion (Father’s Day), she gave us a table which was joined with two tables
(both uneven) and when I requested a booth (which many were empty) she said they are reserved for larger groups and that she will get back to us. She never did get back, and we never got the booth even though 2 were empty, right before we were leaving she seated a party of 3 (which was our party size). Not very gracious and accommodating for the money we paid including 5 dollars for parking.
The food was good enough and our waitress was nice, but not very happy with the hostess. Overall expected better hospitality for having booked for a special occasion about 10 days in advance.
I’m traveling and had heard about this spot before I came to Memphis. I had the pork chop and it was fantastic. I was disappointed by the cocktail. It was very watered down however it didn’t make me like this place any less. I should have just ordered wine. Next time I’m in town I’ll be sure to stop here!
Awesome food and great service. Although they only take reservations, we were able to enjoy Sunday brunch on the patio with no problem or wait. Will be back!
I would think twice before going to this restaurant. The waitress was NOT friendly, it appears that she didn't want to serve us. When our food finally arrived a little more than an hour after arriving, we never saw the waitress again until she dropped off the check.
The food was excellent and so were the drinks. Service was timely and attentive without being overwhelming. Highly recommend the beauty shop for a quick drink or full meal.
Awesome food, good service, cool ambiance
Three of us were seated at a two top table. We made it work but it was a bit too tight of a squeeze. We had to ask multiple times for items that were needed (missing fork, ice bucket for wine, etc). The food was delicious as always but would like to see service step up for our next visit.
Father’s Day dinner with Dad
Great food. Great service.
We were a little disappointed in The Beauty Shop experience we had. Let me say, first, that the service was excellent. The Thai Steak Salad we had was just so-so, where we had expected something much more tasty and interesting. The noise level inside was almost more than we could take - outside would have been much better, but it was very hot that day.
We had a great birthday lunch at the Beauty Shop for one of my coworkers. Food was good and service was quick! The menu is quirky, but everyone found something they were excited about.
Went to the Beauty Shop - awesome little gem in what appears to be a re-emerging community. Great food, great ambiance - would recommend.
Always great for brunch! I’ve had almost everything on the menu. Chilequiles and ricotta pancakes are favorites
Went with my wife and parents who were in town visiting. Great atmosphere of a vintage hair salon. Large mimosas and drinks with good but not large portions of breakfast/lunch. Enjoyed the tasty food.
Amazing food and atmosphere! Would definitely recommend and will be back!
Enjoyed outdoor seating. Great food with a lot of flavor. Recommendation from server was spot on!!!
Outstanding in every way.
There were 4 of us, we ordered 4 different plates and 2 appetizers. Without hesitation I can say we all thought the food was fantastic. Our waitress was delightful, very knowledgeable about the dishes and ingredients and very praiseworthy about the owner/chief. Will definitely be back.
Went here to celebrate my wife's 50th birthday as we wanted a fun treat and we were impressed not just with the unique styling and decor but the service and food was amazing too!
What an amazing place! We were visiting Memphis and found out that back in the day this restaurant was a beauty shop where Priscilla Presley got her hair done. We had to come just for that fun reason, but it was the best meal we had while visiting Memphis! We were treated so well. Our server even brought our one year old avocado and fruit!! They truly made us feel welcome and it was a fun memory for our vacation. I highly recommend!
Calamari had to be sent back because it was hard and the food was overall just so-so. I don’t recommend the fish or the shrimp and scallops. Not a great date experience and such a shame. We had heard so many good things about this place.
My husband and I had Sunday brunch at The Beauty Shop, and we both enjoyed it. We ordered the Southern Breakfast and the Tropical French Toast with bacon. Everything was cooked exactly as we ordered it, and the food was delicious. The French toast was just sweet enough but without being too sugary like is most often the case with that particular meal. The light sweetness mixed with the fresh fruit and the maple butter was the perfect combination. I would recommend this to my friends, and we will definitely return if we are ever back in the area.
Food was as good as always, drinks excellent and quirky. Portions are perfect, lesser restaurants often give too much food - portions were just right. Server was attentive without hovering. Chicken & waffles is excellent. Friend has had the Hash, also very good.
Very fun and friendly. I was dining alone so I loved that there was counter (bar) seating.
I felt invisible to the hostess from the minute I walked in. I followed in another party and I was presumed part of their party. It took 7-10mins to even be checked in and by the time I was, I was nervous about missing my reservation. The server that finally seated us was friendly. Then another 10-15 mins of all the servers ignoring our table, all assuming we were someone else's table. The effort it must have taken them to avert their eyes to the two of us, sitting, no drinks, looking for attention of the staff, no water, nothing. By the way, the two neighboring tables were unoccupied.
Then Sara M appeared. She saved our dining experience. She was kind and helpful. Knew the menu really well and helped us make all of our choices. She took an interest in us. If it were not for her outstanding service, this would have turned out to be a very different evening. Sara kept thanking us for being such a fun table. Well she made our time at The Beauty Shop worth it in the end.
I've had several good meals at the Beauty Shop but unfortunately tonight was not a good experience. Kitchen was way off and our wait person was mostly MIA. After 90 minutes and no entree we decided to move on to another venue. Maybe next time.
Always incredible food at the Beauty Shop. It is typically very busy for Sunday brunch, but the staff works hard to ensure all tables are waited on in a timely manner.
Excellent food, great service! We’ll be back!
Our server was perhaps the worst in history. She would walk away mid order or sentence and never made eye contact. She screwed up our drink orders twice and didn't check on us hardly at all. However, the food was tremendous and plated beautifully. We sat outside at our own corner table and it was a perfect evening. I'd recommend this place for the quality of the cuisine and it's chefs but NOT the wait staff
We have several friends that have eaten here and recommended going. This was our first time to go to The Beauty Shop! I got seated at Priscilla's (Presley) hair dryer which still works so that was pretty cool!! Our waitress was very nice and attentive. It was super busy as it was Mother's Day but everything went smoothly and everyone was very nice. We look forward to going again soon.
One of my very favorite restaurants in Memphis with excellent Bloody Marys!! Their brunch is amazing and always packed so make a reservation in advance. I prefer the brunch and dinner menus over the lunch selections. Their fish selections are excellent, salads are unique and very fresh, pasta dish specials are always tasty!! It's a fun and funky vibe with nice roomy booths for good conversation, the table seating would be more for people watching and seeing everyone in the restaurant. Their milkshakes and crepes are unique and delish!! A definite gem in the Memphis midtown scene!
Got blown away by the experience. Do say hello to Karen if you stop by.
Eclectic and cozy atmosphere, inspired dishes, and one hell of a drink menu. We will definitely be back!
My favorite restaurant in Memphis!
😀 fish club so yummy.
