Girls' night out was a huge hit at the Beauty Shop! Food, drink, service and atmosphere were wonderful and unique!
We will be back!
Loved the atmosphere, service, and the food! I will be back again 😀
The food and service was amazing as always!
We had a wonderful night out with a group of friends. I hadn't been able to go to The Beauty Shop in a couple of years and I was even better than I remembered. The service was good, the food was fresh, thoughtfully prepared and delicious. The menu has something for everyone and has unique combinations of fairly common ingredients that come together to create something delicious.
I love this place but when we were sat at our early reservation at the small table for two, the place was empty, the next couple was seated right next to us (tables are super close to one another) and we could hardly hear each other as the couple was drunk and drinking more and more.
My friend and i were both sort of appalled at the lack of awareness of the staff since they weren’t busy at all. We couldn’t catch up as was the point of our dinner and she drove in from Nashville to see me before a business event. Reunion was ruined.
Today for Sunday brunch, very busy and very noisy. Our food was fine unfortunately our 2 guests complained of cold food. Naturally, they made it right I making another plate for them. You can always count on them to come through for you here, especially should something not be quite right.
The food and setting was so cool! definitely a southern restaurant to check out!
I always take friends and family to The Beauty Shop when they are visiting Memphis for the first time. Sunday Brunch has wonderful beignets and a unique and diverse menu. I always try something new and have never been disappointed.
Great night , delicious food and atmosphere. The fish was very well prepared
This is one of our favorite Saturday brunch spots. They do an excellent job of delivering great food and service at an affordable price. Their staff start to feel like family.
Lovely evening. Service was attentive enough but not overly engaged. Eggplant appetizer was excellent. Filet was very good but not outstanding. The scallops were a beautiful presentation.
When I walked in, no host was there. I literally stood in the doorway for about 5 mins not knowing what to do. Had to walk to the bar to ask where do I go to be seated. Once seated with my group, it literally took 20 mins for someone to finally come over to take food orders. I was embarrassed that I asked my guest to meet me there. I had never been and it was my first time. We had to grab a waitress just to ask her who our waitress was. My fries were cold but my salad was great.
The atmosphere and service were impeccable! The oyster appetizer and grilled romaine salad were fantastic. Our entrees were good but not as good as usual. The shrimp and scallops dish only had one shrimp and 2 scallops. It was more of a stew type presentation. The flavor was just okay. The pork chop with peach salsa was over cooked and a bit dry and the peach topping was ice cold. Overall I’d recommend as this is not usually the case here. Our waiter was fantastic.
First time in Memphis and I wanted to experience all the fun and local cuisine .... the Beauty shop did not disappoint! Eclectic historic decor with Devine food .... a MUST visit restaurant!! PLUS I got to sit under Pricilla Presley’s ACTUAL hair dryer .... love it!
Wonderful dinner and service as always. A Memphis gem!
They were out of the first 4 selections we ordered. The server did not know when we were ordering so she would take the order and then come back for us to try again. The food and service were at best sub-par.
The French toast was so burnt it was hard to cut and the Mexican Brunch was inedible. Not worth the wait or the money.
this is a spot i go often. one of my favorites in the city!
We enjoyed the food. But the hostess was not very gracious. Even though we booked a week in advance for a special occasion (Father’s Day), she gave us a table which was joined with two tables
(both uneven) and when I requested a booth (which many were empty) she said they are reserved for larger groups and that she will get back to us. She never did get back, and we never got the booth even though 2 were empty, right before we were leaving she seated a party of 3 (which was our party size). Not very gracious and accommodating for the money we paid including 5 dollars for parking.
The food was good enough and our waitress was nice, but not very happy with the hostess. Overall expected better hospitality for having booked for a special occasion about 10 days in advance.
I’m traveling and had heard about this spot before I came to Memphis. I had the pork chop and it was fantastic. I was disappointed by the cocktail. It was very watered down however it didn’t make me like this place any less. I should have just ordered wine. Next time I’m in town I’ll be sure to stop here!
Awesome food and great service. Although they only take reservations, we were able to enjoy Sunday brunch on the patio with no problem or wait. Will be back!
I would think twice before going to this restaurant. The waitress was NOT friendly, it appears that she didn't want to serve us. When our food finally arrived a little more than an hour after arriving, we never saw the waitress again until she dropped off the check.
The food was excellent and so were the drinks. Service was timely and attentive without being overwhelming. Highly recommend the beauty shop for a quick drink or full meal.
To start off with Hostess was too preoccupied to greet us, sat us down and walked away with the menus. My husband and I both ordered the Pork & Peach. Very thick layer of fat was left on. Corn was corn on the cob with the smallest kernels I have ever seen and was tasteless except for the stuff they put on which was awful. Peach was a small slice and had a big brown spot. Google a picture of the hair-dryers and eat elsewhere.
Awesome food, good service, cool ambiance
Three of us were seated at a two top table. We made it work but it was a bit too tight of a squeeze. We had to ask multiple times for items that were needed (missing fork, ice bucket for wine, etc). The food was delicious as always but would like to see service step up for our next visit.
Father’s Day dinner with Dad
Great food. Great service.
We were a little disappointed in The Beauty Shop experience we had. Let me say, first, that the service was excellent. The Thai Steak Salad we had was just so-so, where we had expected something much more tasty and interesting. The noise level inside was almost more than we could take - outside would have been much better, but it was very hot that day.
We had a great birthday lunch at the Beauty Shop for one of my coworkers. Food was good and service was quick! The menu is quirky, but everyone found something they were excited about.
Went to the Beauty Shop - awesome little gem in what appears to be a re-emerging community. Great food, great ambiance - would recommend.
Always great for brunch! I’ve had almost everything on the menu. Chilequiles and ricotta pancakes are favorites
Went with my wife and parents who were in town visiting. Great atmosphere of a vintage hair salon. Large mimosas and drinks with good but not large portions of breakfast/lunch. Enjoyed the tasty food.
Amazing food and atmosphere! Would definitely recommend and will be back!
Enjoyed outdoor seating. Great food with a lot of flavor. Recommendation from server was spot on!!!
Outstanding in every way.
There were 4 of us, we ordered 4 different plates and 2 appetizers. Without hesitation I can say we all thought the food was fantastic. Our waitress was delightful, very knowledgeable about the dishes and ingredients and very praiseworthy about the owner/chief. Will definitely be back.
Went here to celebrate my wife's 50th birthday as we wanted a fun treat and we were impressed not just with the unique styling and decor but the service and food was amazing too!
What an amazing place! We were visiting Memphis and found out that back in the day this restaurant was a beauty shop where Priscilla Presley got her hair done. We had to come just for that fun reason, but it was the best meal we had while visiting Memphis! We were treated so well. Our server even brought our one year old avocado and fruit!! They truly made us feel welcome and it was a fun memory for our vacation. I highly recommend!
Calamari had to be sent back because it was hard and the food was overall just so-so. I don’t recommend the fish or the shrimp and scallops. Not a great date experience and such a shame. We had heard so many good things about this place.
