Food is delicious, but the service and the staff’s attitude are terrible. So many good restaurants in New York... just avoid this one
We had a wonderful evening here for my wife's birthday dinner. I explained she was pregnant and they did everything to accommodate. The food and drinks were all flavorful and nicely presented. Our waiter Steven was very knowledgeable on the menu and made great recommendations. He honestly can make any dish sound delicious. We had the Foie Gras Truffle Torchon, Venison/Trotter Pie w/bone marrow, Roast Duck Flambe, the Pommes side, and Bone Marrow dessert. All the dishes were incredible. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised on just how good this place really was. Better than some of the Michelin rated restaurants we've dined at. Well done Beatrice Inn...I will definitely be back and highly recommend it!
The food was terrific as was the location. You walk through a bustling bar to get to your candlelit table, the service was fantastic, the food was out of this World. I enjoyed the eclectic music as much as the food. Two thumbs up here.
Probably one of the best meals I've ever had. Service, food, ambience, all A++++++
We had such a great dinner - omg the duck flambé was amazing - with the alliums and a magnum of Billecart - the staff at the Beatrice are amazing - so professional and so utterly cool - they made our night amazing and very special - thank you Beatrice Inn - you make the magic happen xxxxx
The service was awful on every front
We had not been since there was a change of chef and obviously philosophy. I hadn't checked the menu in advance, but was surprised to learn the new system involves ordering large portions of everything (including starters) for the table to share, so we were not experiencing individual meals. (It also helps if your appetite leans toward foie gras and pate and things slathered in duck fat.) I don't mind an expensive meal -- this was a birthday celebration -- but it all felt overthought, pretentious and overpriced for what we actually got. We enjoy the space and the feel, and the service was excellent (waiter did his best to help us figure out our order), but we will not be returning until the next reinvention.
We love this restaurant.
Sadly this was a very poor experience. Our porterhouse steak was extremely cold when we revived it. Also there was a hole in one wine glass that ended up all over our table and my clothes.
We always have a great time here - the flambé Duck is amazing
The new menu is great - lots of great new dishes - we had an amazing dinner tonight - thank you Beatrice Inn
They gave us a COLD 375 steak. What else can uou say.
We never saw our waiter and had to find him to pay bill.
I loved the ambience and wine advice on point.
There is only one solution if you live in the west village: BTK which is sad.
Had dinner at Beatrice Inn the other night and was appalled by the Chef (and owner) Angie Mar. My buddie and I were eating at the bar (which had 7 other patrons) as the restaurant was almost empty (we now know why). The bartender Jose was extremely helpful and could not have been nicer. We ordered a 60 Day dry-aged Cote De Boeuf medium-rare. It came out a bit more rare but was edible (except for the extra fat). My friend wanted a little more heat added to his portion and the chef lambasted the staff member for asking all within earshot of the customers. Extremely unprofessional to say the least and the killjoy of a fun evening. While many Chefs feel that they are part of the Hollywood experience what they need to understand is that they are running a business and unfortunately for them the customers are actually key to the success of the business, not having the employees bow down to them while alienating their customers. Plenty of great steak in NYC and more than enough places that treat their customers with respect.
A wonderful out of the way spot. The bar was very appealing. The dining room was very tasteful. The service was very attentive but not obtrusive.
Now the food was outstanding. Although some people mention the price and it is expensive for the signature dishes, you can still have a memorable meal for less than your monthly rent payment and comparable to most NYC steakhouses. The duck was tender, tasty and wonderfully presented. Enough for 3 people or for the next night for two. Excellent salads and appetizers.
Amazing steak special (porterhouse without the filet side but great flavor and seasoning and on the bone ) Also great bar.
Expensive but a worthwhile and special place.
Perfect meal and service! It’s more than a restaurant, it’s an experience!!
Always a great dinner here
The foie gras and duck were delicious
Tne bine marrow creme brulee loved it! Never tasted anything like that before
Outstanding once again! The steaks at Beatrice inn are one of a kind masterpieces! My wife and I eat dry aged beef on a regular basis and this place is far and away the best! Don’t forget to order the poutine! Waitstaff was nice 👍 the place is pricey but you get what you pay for!
One of our favorite restaurants in the city — Angie Mar is a brilliant, innovative chef, and the hospitality matches the food. If you're a meat lover, this is the place for you. If you're a vegetarian, it might convert you.
Never ever disappoints
My family and I LOOOOOVE this place...... and try to come once/twice a year. We were just there this past week and thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. We had a large table next to us, so the noise was rather shrill and service slowed a bit (props to our server who handled most of the tables in our room), but the duck flambe, allium w/foie gras were DELISH as always... the hen and leek pie was a fabulous new discovery.
Don’t go. No air conditioning. Place was 95 degrees inside on 7/16. Was unbearable. And while the restaurant claimed it wa a temporary problem, it’s not an isolated incident as the dehumidifiers in the dining room had been in place for months. At $1,200 for dinner for three, air conditioning is a must. No apologies from anyone over the heat as the staff appears used to it. Too many great steakhouses in town with air conditioning to wage time here.
My best friend and I come here for all our special occasions—and this year it was our 15th anniversary as friends. Our waiter was lovely, and we received so many thoughtful complementary dishes—even a glass of champagne when we sat down. Whether they knew it was a special occasion or not, it was such a kind, generous, thoughtful (and completely delicious) gesture. We’ll keep coming back to celebrate all our happy moments together there. Thank you Angie and your wonderful team! There’s no place like The Beatrice Inn.
Overpriced food, poor service and lack of decent Air conditioning. Horrible experience.
Always amazing on every level and in every way
Waiter was no attentive and food was very very expensive. Other by seakhouses are a much better value and taste.
The service was outstanding! The food was excellent, everything was great. I was able to chat with The Chef and we took some pictures. The best experience ever. Definitely we are going back.
We tried the almost $1,000 whiskey aged tomahawk steak, it was too funky for us but everything else was delicious- especially the duck
This is such a special place for me. I’ve been going to Beatrice for a while now and always being new people who equally loves the experience. Beyond the exceptional food, I had such a great server who is very entertaining and the sommelier is gracious as always.
Duck and Kale salad were both excellent. We also had the good fortune to be seated directly next to Samuel L. Jackson, that was cool. Will definitely return.
The front bar area was lovely, the dining Room also very well done in terms of design lighting and comfort. My husband and I ordered a salad a lamb dish for2-4 people for a $130 and desert to share. Sadly when our lamb came out and they began to eat it a 3rd of it was unedible, Grizzly chewy, tough. We called our waiter over and how the waiter and the manager handled this situation was not professional nor encouraging to ever return. An apology was appropriate also asking of there was anything else we would like instead would be appropriate or comping us something we ordered. They did add another desert which was neither wanted nor needed.
May I add the Caesar salad was one of the best and their Madeline's were absolutely delicious although certainly precious at $30 for 6.
It is a shame in the hospitality business that a manager does not know how to handle this kind of situation.
Very cool space in a very chic neighborhood.
On a very rainy night, while we were waiting for our 4th party, they refused to seat us, instead delegating us to a very busy bar, which we found incredibly annoying, especially on a muggy night with umbrellas in tow.
The food is great but bring a loaded wallet. As good as the Porterhouse for 4 was, it was not worth $360. The duck was delicious and more moderately priced. Good luck finding a wine for less than $125. Not that easy.
If not on an expense account or not the son of a Baron, find another steakhouse that's more reasonably priced.
Amazing food and the service!
Definitely going back!
Food was simply outstanding. Just too much of it. The poutine (to die for) was more than enough without the tartiflette - we should perhaps have been guided away from such folly. The experience was overshadowed a bit by a nearby table of drunken men who appeared to be hard of hearing.
We were rushed to finish our food throughout the evening
While the ambience is cozy and dark, I find the menu to be too meat centric. Unless you are a meat lover, I would not recommend this restaurant.
I am really disappointed by our most recent visit to the Beatrice Inn. As always, their cocktails were impeccable, but for the first time the service was really not what I expected. Our primary server was disinterested at best, rude and a bit pedantic at worst. Our meal was heavy and rich, and our meat arrived to our table lukewarm. It didn't feel like the experience I expect from this place. I've had mostly great experiences, but this one left something to be desired. I may mark this as a "drinks only" establishment from now on.
We had a party of 3 where I got the Pork Shoulder, my friend got the 45 day aged burger, and my other friend got the scallops and yellowtail as he doesn’t eat red meat. All of us had adequate portions and were full afterward. I tried a little bit of everyone’s and mine was by far the best. The pork shoulder was so tender you didn’t even need a knife to cut it. The jasmine rice was more of a grits consistency as well. I noticed everyone else around us was ordering the duck so next time that will be on my list to try. The restaurant had beautiful decor but it was a little bit more dimly lit than I prefer. I felt like I was eating in the dark, especially since there are no windows. The wait staff was very nice and prompt, but also very serious. Seeing a smile here and there from one of the people that helped us (aside from the hostess who was great) would have been nice.
Food overwrought and overpriced . Service decent. Room loud.
The food was amazing, however it felt a bit like the waiter forgot about our table most. of the night
