The Beach House Restaurant - Victoria
It was really good the server was super fun, but it is a major pet peeve of mine to have to ask for water refills (we weren’t guzzling it) and we had to twice. Gorgeous venue
Me and my girls enjoying going to the beach house at least once a month but would love to sit in the upstairs area sometimes. They advertise that it is open but it is always in the down stairs area. Also there French fries are battered and used to not be. One of our friends is gluten free and is now unable to eat them.
We met friends visiting from Kelowna for lunch who had never been to the Beach House. They loved the view and our server Mariana was very attentive.
We love the location right on Cordova Bay Beach - we saw otters, seals and eagles from our table! The staff were all professional, friendly (but not in your face) and attentive. Our waitress even brought wonderful rich chocolate cake for each of the multiple birthdays at our table of nine people. Everybody loved their dishes - from the starters of a walnut/red pepper dip with homemade chips through seafood salad, prawn or fish tacos, fish and chips, burgers of all kinds...and, nearly forgot. the delicious pizzas! One of the best in Victoria I'm sure. Reservations were easy on Open Table. The Beach House is definitely one of our 'go to' restaurants in Victoria. Enjoy!
Food is delicious , if a bit pricey. Service excellent, view wonderful!
The view was amazing, although we were seated on the upper level right next to the bar, so we could not enjoy it as much as the people near the windows. It also made it a higher traffic area, which was a distraction, especially for my youngest daughter who has anxiety. The food was good for the price and the service was quick and friendly. I did mention in my reservation that this was for a birthday, but it was not mentioned during the meal and other tables that were celebrating birthdays received a complimentary dessert for the birthday person.
We get the feeling the events upstairs are the priority due to it being the prime money maker. It feels like the community customers who frequent the downstairs regularly are not valued. Cordova Bay is a tight, community valuing connection and quality. It was better when one could dine upstairs in an open, airy ambience that feels more like the beach side ambience. The staff have always been excellent and friendly. Downstairs is more 90s, has less seating, a low ceiling and does not have the same feel. The food quality has declined significantly which is disappointing as many regulars are there daily or weekly. ( Changed from Kenebec fries to cheap breaded Sysco Foods type fare). They stopped serving mussels, TiraMisu and creme brûlée (which offer a nice contrast to the sweeter alternatives of chocolate/cookie/ pie etc). With new restaurants with top notch chefs, innovative cocktails, fresh farm to table food, the competition is tough. This is more a restaurant for location not quality food. Very sad as locals are looking for a regular watering hole serving the best quality healthy food, especially if one is eating there daily or weekly. With the best intentions I wrote this hoping it will change. It could be so much better and we would love to go more but are choosing not to.
Syd was our server and she knew when to come around and when to pass by. Food was fantastic and we enjoyed our meal. Best lamb shank I have had in years!
One of our favourite spots on the Island. The view is also outstanding.
Always enjoy our lunch there. Our server was awesome, once again. Can’t remember her name, but she’s the young lady from Brazil! Great service from her and so pleasant!
Thankyou for keeping up the ambiance of a long time restaurant.
We love the beach house. It was my son's birthday and that is where he chose to go for dinner. They gave him a complimentary piece of cake which my son loved.
great location if you have a window table - food OK
I had the seafood salad which did not have any prawns on it described on the menu. There were 2 scallops, grilled salmon and shrimp but no prawns. Some customers had bread served on their tables which we did not, I would have enjoyed a slice of bread with my salad. My water glass was not refilled when empty and would have also enjoyed. Service was good otherwise and we had a lovely window seat as requested. I treated my friend for her birthday lunch there which she enjoyed.
Breathtaking views, and an elegant but not overly formal ambience. Everyone in our party had something different - from paella, to lamb shank, to beef short ribs to arctic char - and we were all delighted with our meals. The menu had great variety and everything was cooked to perfection. Our server was friendly, and attentive (although not able to answer many questions about the wine list). You get a lot more value for your dining dollar here than downtown. (And it's super easy to park.)
We had an amazing brunch at the Beach House. Everything was perfect. We had the eggs Benedict- classic and salmon. Both were great options, good value and of course the location and views are amazing. We’ll be back.
Beautiful view of the beach and ocean, the service was pleasant, efficient, and delightful. Overall the food was good but I did find the prices a little high. That said I would definitely try the beach house again for lunch or dinner as this time I went for brunch. Overall I give it 4 and 1/2 out of 5 stars
We had a delightful evening at The Beach House. The restaurant overlooks Cadboro Bay Beach and so most picturesque on a temperature Spring Evening. The wait staff were welcoming, friendly, and attentive.
The meals were tasty and very nicely presented. The walnut dip with a sampling of olives was an appetizer to certainly recommend.
a great evening dinner - our server Kristen was awesome from suggesting options for my gluten free preferences, and taking the best care of us.
We went for our anniversary and it was perfect. We had an incredible view of the ocean. A great relaxed atmosphere.
Food needs to be improved, and menu changed periodically!
Fantastic food and service!
The bouillabaisse was on point and the stuffed chicken was amazing (and huge!)
We will be back.
The meal was enjoyable except for the high noise level and due to this we would not recommend the restaurant to our friends. We may try it again through the week for lunch or dinner.
Beautiful panoramic view from Sidney Island to Mount Douglas Park. Great food at a reasonable price and cheerful, efficient service. What's not to like?!
It was the perfect place to take visitors from the prairies. They were very impressed with the ocean view from our table, and we all enjoyed the selection of seafood from the menu. We were there early on a Friday night so it was still quiet enough for our family visit and to enjoy a happy hour cocktail. It was quite busy toward the end of our meal and a little harder on the hearing impaired! Beautiful experience!
We will be back soon!
Unfortunately it was not as nice as i expected, given the location of the restaurant. The service was not the greatest. We waited a bit to be greeted at the table, it took a long time to get the complementary bread, then it was very salty and much less than in other places, then the wine and beer glasses were not properly clean! you could see the lip marks on them -- very likely the dishwasher needs an upgrade or different detergent!
The experience rests on its outstanding location. Food was very beautifully presented. The hostess who showed us to our table was not very friendly, but our server was great.
Would have given 5 stars but were out of 2 things on the normal menu. Everything else was excellent, will definitely be back.
Great setting and fabulous service, the only thing I would have to mention is the noise level. I realize that we were there on a Friday night and there is a lounge/pub atmosphere on upper lever, to bad it couldn't be separated somehow. Other than that is was very good!!
Service is a hit or miss for us. Food is ok. Great location sort of makes up for it.
We were celebrating my 70th birthday and the whole experience was perfect!
Great food and ambiance! A perfect place to celebrate a special occasion, or to just take in a meal after a walk on the beach!
Great service! Willing to help with everything! Noise was loud so a bit hard to hear dinner mates
Beautiful view, and Delicious food as usual. We went to the restaurant for a work lunch and everyone was able to find something to eat and everyone enjoyed their meal.
We had an excellent experience for my husband's birthday lunch with friends. Much better than the one we had for my birthday dinner in November. So happy to see the quality all round has been approved.
I NORMALLY COME WITH MY INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS , I LOVE THIS PLACE
We all ordered fish and chips. One piece halibut. 2 piece cod and one piece cod. My one piece cod was so small I had to order a second piece. But, that being said it was very good in flavour. The gal that ordered the halibut was very happy. We felt that all of the cod pieces could have been bigger.
I would recommend for a daytime meal unable to see the wonderful views in the dark.
Always consistently good food, in a lovely room with a view.
Good food! Quite large portions..... Staff was very attentive
Canadian Pizza was very disappointing. Tough and doughy.
The service was lovely and the view superb.
The last time I was there I had the catch of the day which was wonderful....crusty salmon over risotto. Lots of good veggies.
