The Bazaar by José Andrés South Beach Ratings and Reviews
This is a serious restaurant with serious and imaginative food. We were greeted without a smile at the entrance by 2 young ladies who quietly chatted under their breath before seating us. The dining room is expansive with the octopus-like chandelier taking up a large portion of the ceiling in the middle of the room. The wait staff work as a team so we only dealt with our original server on a limited basis. This felt a bit cold and he never built a report with us. The drinks are creative and need to be read in detail before making a selection. The wine list look significant and other beverage items were in good variety. The menu is a bit Asian-influenced on one side and bit more Spanish on the other. There is also a local South Florida vibe presence with passion fruit/ tropical ingredients as well as local seafood. The plates are small as described and in some instances very tiny- the Kuma moto oyster with caviar- 1 small bite for $12 a piece. Delish nonetheless. Navigating the menu is a challenge to a non-foodie. My wife and I are in the biz but still had to read, decipher and decide. Overall, some very good surprises such as the passion fruit stuffed ceviche with hibiscus foam. A little out there but very well done and tasty! You can't be in a hurry either. There is a deliberate pace and the food takes time to prepare. We spent 3 hours and a bit over $100 a piece for the experience. Nice that there is nothing like this in south Beach and we enjoyed our meal. Just be aware of what you are getting into. Recommended for foodies A-.
Flavor combinations were amazing here, definitely Michelin Star quality. Two menus, old school and new Cuban fusion, both should be tried! The Churrasco was the highlight mixing a coffee rub with passion fruit sauce and topped with espresso cream. Amazing dish. Try the N2 caipirinha!!
It was awesome, as always. They had vegetarian options, which was great, and they were even able to modify one item, the coconut rice, to make it veg for me. My husband LOVED the platter of Spanish meats. Octopus was amazing. Cocktails were top notch. A great experience.
Not my type of restaurant. Poor portions, high prices considering what was served (even by South Beach standards) and no one in our group had any dish that made them say WOW. My daughter’a Birthday, but they did nothing special except wish her a Happy Birthday. I will not return.
Food overall was probably the best after many disappointments of recommended restaurants that didn’t live up to the rave reviews here in Miami.
Sitting in the front part of the restaurant felt odd, like eating in a lobby, and not much ambiance. The yellowtail hamachi, dragon fruit ceviche, and clams were the highlights. The chocolate salted caramel mousse was bland in flavors and textures. The goat cheese with honey ice cream dessert was far better.
Great assortment of traditional and modern tapas. Loved the Japanese taco in a paper-thin cucumber "shell," the Singapore street food, asparagus, and deconstructed key lime pie. Very attentive but not hovering wait staff. Spendy but worth it for a special night out.
Stayed at the SLS for the week. We are at Baazar the first night and food was amazing! Service was on point and efficient. Pricey, but that’s Southbeach standard for good places. Overall it was good. Cocktails were ok, nothing special for the price. I was t blown away, but the food was good. Ambiance was great for
Dessert was the best part!!! Delish
Some friends and I were in Miami Beach for my 60th birthday vacation. We wanted a special place for that day's dinner. Googling local restaurants, I came across this one and remembered seeing news reports of Chef Jose Andres' heroic work preparing food for thousands in Puerto Rico following hurricane Maria. In part because I wanted to help support that effort, I booked our dinner at The Bazaar. Our experience there honestly defies description. It was THAT GOOD! We chose the Tasting Menu and it was perfect. Taste after incredible taste kept arriving at our table. The staff was uniformly excellent and tolerant of our exuberant celebration, especially our waiter, Javier. We also added a couple of additional dishes we wanted to try and the staff was very accommodating about it. It couldn't have been a better experience and I couldn't have asked for a better birthday dinner. I would give this restaurant, including the decor, all the rating stars that exist!
Another Jose Andres experience that didn’t disappoint. We were incredibly impressed by the knowledge of our server and the assistant sommelier. When deciding on our food, our server talked through the wine pairings for the tasting menu — his expert description, painting a beautiful picture of what we might experience prompted us to stop him halfway through and just go with his suggestions. We were in no way disappointed. The pairings and food were unique and exquisite. The entire team that came to serve us food and wine were charming, emanated warmth and expertise. The whole evening lasted nearly 3 hours and we didn’t want it to end. A must do in Miami.
Our dinner featured some of the most imaginative and creative dishes I have enjoyed in a long time. We chose 7 tapas-style dishes between the two of us and the order in which they were served to us was brilliantly curated by the attentive staff. The whole experience was enhanced by a bottle of Spanish wine recommended by the sommelier. If you get a chance to dine in this restaurant, go!
One of the best meals ever.
Tasting menu blows you away! A sublime progression of flavors and surprises!
Drinks were awesome
Service outstanding. Prime waiter friendly and engaging, secondary staff efficient and unobtrusive.
The tasting menu is not inexpensive but the number of dishes the quality and the variety make it well worth the splurge.
Accommodated a no-dairy request on the tasting menu with ease.
Experience was phenomenal. Truly a dining experience!! Little overwhelmed by menu but waiter was very patient and informative! Our res was 730 and we left at 10pm feeling full and full of smiles w contentment by service as well as food! Vacationing from NY! Second time here and will def be back!!!
I’ll start by saying I’ve dined at many of Jose Andres restaurants and love his style of food. Despite having a confirmed reservation 2-3 weeks in advance we were seated in the lobby bar area next to a stairwell instead of the restaurant. For drinks we ordered a total of 4 wines by the glass , 2 of which were from their Coravin selection. We ordered a total of 7 different dishes and the 2 entrees arrived first. Barely after they hit the table another substantial dish arrived and we immediately told them to slow down. Now.... you guessed it, we didn’t get another dish for 30 minutes and we’re basically well satisfied and really not in need of any additional food. So all in all the pace of the meal was not good, we never actually saw the restaurant and a couple of the dishes were just okay. 3 or 4 of the dishes were very good to excellent. I would go back but only if I was assured we could dine in the restaurant
I really enjoyed the ambiance and the variety of foods. I’m a true fan of the Chef and the menu did not disappoint. Our waiter was excellent and the service was efficient. The dishes were a bit small but interesting. My only complaint was the bar service in that they lacked Prosecco and jack Daniels. But I would recommend the dining experience and will return again.
