The Bay House (OR) Ratings and Reviews
Our group of four dined at The Bay House to celebrate a wedding anniversary and a birthday. The evening was outstanding in every sense of the word. We began with an appetizer of clams that was generous and done to perfection. It was enough for our table to share. The salads were small, but in proportion to the rest of the meal. Two of us had scallops (5) accompanied by a luscious sauce and vegetable. The other two meals consisted of beef cooked just right for our rare meat eaters. Cocktails and wine were superb. For dessert the creme brulee was the perfect topper. This was a memorable meal and worth every cent. Yes, it was expensive, but for a special occasion, it can't be beat at the coast.
We've been to the Bay House for dinner many times over many years, and it has always been excellent. This time was no different. The menu is not quite as large or as seafood-oriented as in the past, but the food was excellent and our service was top notch. The only off-note was a very pricy corkage fee.
Had a truly great meal at The Bay House, the food was just outstanding and complimented by the service from John. Extensive wine list and John helped us to find the right one for our dinner. Six people and we were all pleased with our meals, definitely will go back when in the area.
The Bay House has a great view and good food, but the menu selections have diminished over the years. There were only four entree choices. Although the food pairings were excellent, we never received the appetizer we ordered and our food was cold when it arrived at our table. Given the price and our previous experiences, we expected better.
A visit after a long absence. New ownership, new menu, and slightly disappointing, especially the salads. But, the wild salmon was the best that I have been served in a long time, generous and perfectly cooked. But really, where else to eat in Lincoln City?
Artfully presented, creative & well-executed meal. Modest portions/not for sharing. Our salads and entrees were noteworthy. The beet salad was thoughtful & delicious. The duck and the beef were cooked perfectly. Quality bread with house-churned herb butter. Professional waitstaff. Extensive wine list. We will return when in the area.
We were very disappointed with the service. As soon as I indicated that we weren't ordering a bottle of wine, the waiter became non-existent. The food was okay...over-priced, pretentious for the Oregon coast, very limited menu. Beautiful view, which is why I picked it, but other restaurants with views I'm sure would have been much more enjoyable.
Service was friendly and very accommodating. Food was delicious. We had the five-course tasting menu. Very impressed with relatively new Exec Chef Kevin, who came out to greet us at the conclusion of our meal (he's been promoted recently to the top spot, and from our experience the other night, he definitely deserves it). Big improvement in all areas since summer 2010 visit. We'll be back.
I've been to the Bayhouse a few times in the past, but this was my first visit since they have a new chef. My husband and I both ordered the tasting menu and the waiter offered to do a wine pairing for the us by course, which we did. The waiter seemed rushed the entire night and was borderline curt with us. Not so far as rude, but I felt insignificant, like we weren't important enough. As for the food, the presentation and flavor was exceptional, however the portions were very small. I know it's a tasting menu, but the 4 courses were a couple of bites each. Dessert was by far the biggest portion (the 5th course) and that isn't what I want to fill up on - especially at $50 a person. The wine pairings were wonderful.
We enjoyed a lovely evening, with attentive service, beautiful view and food prepared with not only an attention to flavor, but also artful presentation. The focus is on quality rather than quantity, but we were fully satisfied with an appetizer and entree...no room for desert although the select was tempting!
We were greeted by a very friendly host when we arrived. The restaurant was very clean and nice.
The special was tuna and we where told it was sushi grade and served seared. Tuna was very fishy and cooked too much (No pink left at all.) Steak was dry. Scallops were the only decent meal served to us.
Restaurant has a nice location and friendly staff but the food wasn't up to par.
We both thought the salmon was over-cooked and that the lentils were way too "al dente", but when we told the otherwise attentive waiter - he seemed indifferent. Since we weren't sending it back, perhaps? It was late and it was edible, so we didn't want to go that far, but at least he could have shown more concern, offered us dessert, something... Pretty view - esp. at sunset.
