The Bavarian Inn Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Very nice location. The restaurant is cozy and has a nice ambiance which includes white linen napkins on the tables. The staff are very nice and provide good service. The food was tasty and attractivly served. The menu offers a good selection of items; however, no designation is made as to which are gluten free or vegan etc.
Excellent food but was a little slow coming out. We thought it was a set Valentines Day menu but you could also order off the regular menu. They likely should have just had the set menu and it would have been faster. Lovely, quiet and comfortable dining area. We will continue to go back!
We are frequent diners at the Bavarian Inn, and this most recent visit was perhaps the best yet. Our preference is for quiet, so chose to eat in the lounge and had it to ourselves while the noisier tables were in the dining room. The food was as always, amazing. I had the Elk Short Ribs - absolutely to die for! My husband always gets the veal schnitzel and said it was excellent. Service will make or break a meal out for us, and we were very pleased with the professionalism of our server, she was perfect - just the right amount of attention. New owner Eric has done a great job with keeping all that attracted us to the Bavarian a focus, but upgrading the décor, and ensures a perfect calm Jazz through the meal at just a nice volume. A perfect evening - thank you, we'll be back!
This was our first visit to this restaurant and we will definitely return. The service was professional and courteous, the food was excellent. We met some friends there for Saturday lunch, their first visit also, and we left 3 hours later! Really enjoyed our visit.
I've been coming here for over 20 years. It is always good food. We enjoy the drive from Calgary to Bragg Creek--it is usually a peaceful drive. We need more German restaurants like this in Calgary, but I'm always happy to take the drive out to Bragg Creek.
Very quick service for the entrees, it took a little longer for the desserts. I had to ask for the bill twice.
Wiener Schnitzel is my favorite. My wife likes the Beef Rouladen.
This visit, as a group of four good friends, we enjoyed meeting up on a not too busy Thursday evening in December for dinner, experienced friendly service, enjoyed a generous plating of great food, with a good selection of wines, but limited selection of beer on offer. A peaceful place within a forest setting, away from the madding crowds of the City, where the food is never a disappointment whether you eat in the cozy dining room or the outdoor patio. Reliably offering at least one local seasonal dish second to none in quality, preparation and taste. If you love wholesome traditional meals that remind you of home but created by award winning chefs. I highly recommend this place to my best friends.
My husband and I️ were at the Bavarian Inn for our anniversary dinner last night, and we were disappointed with our experience from when we were there about a year ago. The food was okay, nothing special, it was extremely loud (though that was mainly due to one table of oblivious people) and the overall ambiance was not what we found and loved from our previous experience.
We had read the online menu before we came..and drove from Airdrie especially for a few of the items. To our disappointment the menu had recently changed and they were no longer offering those specific meals. Also the wait time between finishing our appetizer and receiving our meal was 30 minutes..a tad longer then the normal wait time. Besides those couple things..the food was fantastic. Beautifully plated and outstanding flavors.
We enjoyed dinner but it was quite busy and the restaurant staff were challenged to keep up, decided to opt out of coffee and dessert for fear that we would be there for hours. Food was fine (the schnitzel was really good, lamb that was really salty, but that may be a personal preference.) We have had better meals here so may just have been an off night.
Food was really good and authentic
Quality and quantity were just great
I think a couple more choices for appies / soup would not go amiss
After our appies, entrees took a really really long time to arrive, in fact I had to go and ask what was taking the time .... no real apologies or explanation.
Overall good experience
Lovely place in any season. It was a beautiful day for lunch and we could have sat on the patio, but chose to dine in. Wood burning fireplace in the winter would be especially cozy. The beer on tap was excellent and 6 of the 7 dishes (German) were very well done and tasty. The weiner schnitzel takes up most of the plate! The steak sandwich could have been improved upon, the steak was overdone (albeit had a good flavour) and the rye bread it was placed on was a bit charred. The black forest cake was nicely portioned and delicious; the cake is a light brown and not the dark I was expecting. I would recommend a screen of some kind on the door between the patio and dining room as the flies were taking full advantage of the room to roam. Overall, an excellent experience and I would recommend this restaurant.
