The Battle House Renaissance Mobile Hotel & Spa - The Trellis Room Ratings and Reviews
It was the best welcome and service we have ever received from a prestigious restaurant such as this. The manager was so welcoming and catered to our needs. Ohh yeah, we had special needs and request (lol) our servers Paige and Shannon was amazing. Both recommendations were the best. The food was amazing. I certainly will recommend this place to anyone.
This historic building houses one of the nicest restaurants that I have been to in quite a while. I had one of the largest pieces of fresh amberjack that I’ve ever had. The cooking with the sautéed vegetables was outstanding. The ambiance was incredible. This is a must.
Frequent patron of the Trellis room. We have always been impressed with every meal. Vlad and Angel went above and beyond this visit to make it extra special for my wife’s 50th birthday. Steaks were to perfection as well as the wine paring suggestion. Expect and receive only the perfect amount of attention during the dining experience. Experience fine dining at a reasonable price in the heart of Mobile!
We were in town to celebrate a 50th wedding anniversary with drinks, dinner and dessert. Katherine was excellent as she help me plan and prepare the small event. She was attentive, informative and made great suggestions! Alexis was our server and did an outstanding job.
Our party was a success!
the Trellis Room is a five-star restaurant in downtowm Mobile. more importantly-> it is part of the Battlehouse experience. arrive early, so you will have time to wander about the historic hotel's lobby and mezzanine that have been restored to its 19th century splendor. the dining experience is superb; exceptional food, great service, genteel ambiance, appreciate the architectural features in the art-deco Trellis Room. you will not be disappointed!
We were a party of four to celebrate a birthday. Here are a few bullet points of negatives and positives of our dinning experience at the Battle House Trellis Room:
- we were greeted by friendly host and seated at our table immediately.
- cocktails and appetizers order.
- approximately 20 mins before cocktails served.
- one appetizer forgotten by the server.
- main courses and wine ordered.
- approximately 30 mins after ordering we inquired about the status of our dinner - server and manager came to our table explaining that a pork chop had been prepared improperly and was being replaced thus causing the delay in service of our meal.
- meals finally served approximately 45 mins after we ordered.
- server was not very attentive to our table regarding water and refilling wine glasses.
- desserts ordered.
- one desert has to be returned as it was not prepared as ordered.
- overall opinion: the food was good once we finally got it but the service was less than expected.
- probably our last time to go to the Trellis Room - even though we are locals.
The food was very good, as was the service. The dining room is beautiful; not aware of anything like it in Mobile. Could not help but notice, though, that they have apparently raised the price of most items by about $4 without updating the menu still posted on the website,
I was called the night before my reservation to make sure I still knew about it. The lady that called asked if there was anything they could do for me. I alerted her that this would be my first anniversary dinner and was told that her team would take care of us. Upon arrival we were kindly greeted and I would say almost everyone on the wait staff including the manager came by our table to wish us a happy anniversary. All of the staff were very nice, the food was amazing, and they gave us a dessert on the house. This restaurant made for an amazing and wonderful anniversary experience. I cant thank everyone there enough.
We found the restaurant to be some what 'stuffy'. When looking at the wine list and realized that there was a bottle of wine (not mentioning the name ) that sold for $23.00 in the store going for $90+ I suggested to my wife that 'this may not be the appropriate place'
so we left.
We went to the Dumb Waiter restaurant and had a wonderful meal (outstanding service). By the way, that same bottle of wine was available for $46.
Our reservation was for 7:45 and 8:15. We arrived at 8 and we told the hostess thought our double reservation for 7/each was a mistake and they needed time to put tables together for our party of 14.
We didn't get our first drinks for 45 min and while our table was the only one - we didn't get our food until 9:30. And hour and a half after sitting down.
Delicious food, incredible wait time.
Our server was very attentive and friendly but our dinner was quite sub-par. We started out with a charcuterie board that was generous in portion and good overall. However, dinner was a disappointment. My wife had a salad that she asked to have grilled chicken added to. The chicken was over-cooked and very dry. She didn't end up eating the chicken. I had the fried chicken dinner. One piece of chicken was over-fried and partially burned and the other two lacked flavor and the coating completely separated from the chicken. Overall this was a disappointing dining experience.
My wife received a great $100 gift card for a one night stay at the Battlehouse and $100 gift card to the Trellis Room. We made reservations at 6:30 and the hostess brought us to a table. Our server was very knowledgeable and cordial. She answered all of our questions and made suggestions when asked. Her suggestions were spot on bc I tried the Pork Belly and it was the best dish I had. I also had the Diver Scallops and they were not done but I didn't make a big deal about it and ate them anyways. The corn resotto was very tasty. My wife hat the Filet and Crab Bisque. The Bisque had a few shells in it and for the price, they should have made certain they were not present. Again we didn't complain. Disert was Amazing. The restaurant atmosphere is noting to write home about but the Battlehouse Hotel and Reception area is Awesome. My wife and I don't visit fine dining restaurants often and honestly I'd rather hit up a good casual Italian or seafood restaurant when it's my choice. Overall it was a nice experience but glad it was a free gift ;)
The restaurant was very nice, the only problem was the chairs sat a little low and were not that comfortable. The crispy pork belly and the meat and cheese sample tray were awesome. The entrees were cooked perfectly( Ribeye and Filet Mignon) steaks. The biscuits were not the greatest could possibly do a fresh baked French dinner roll. It was an absolute wonderful dinner and I would definitely recommend this fine dining establishment to all my friends.
It was wonderful! We couldn't have asked for a more helpful staff and how I love Ms Olga. What a great asset she is to your Trellis Room. The food was amazing, the service couldn't be beat, the and Mr George's tour was lovely.
You can tell people that there were nine ladies there on October 8, 2016 that your staff treated like royalty. Thank you so much.
They were doing their best - but they were woefully understaffed to service a hotel catering to several conferences. If you did not order from the breakfast buffet you were waiting an excessively long time for your food. Would not recommend this restaurant if you are on a tight schedule.
On the plus side the staff was very friendly and did their best to accommodate large groups.
Service was great. Our server went out of her way to accommodate our wishes. She was attentive and friendly. The food was expensive an not very original. I had the scallops and they were tender and good but lacked any originality. The large plates where anything but. My date was, surprise, a vegetarian. This is where our server went out of her way to accommodate her wishes. The place was deserted on a Friday night at dinner time. It is located in a wonderfully ornate hotel, but this was definitely not a hot spot.
We had a great dining experience. The food was awesome and the serving staff was exceptionally friend and prompt to attend to our table.
There are two things I highly recommend. There were only a few tables there for couples and ours was in the main entrance. It is a small restaurant area and it would have been nice to have a more secluded table for our anniversary dinner. The hotel bar also accessed the hotel through the dining room so we had several people passing by from the hotel to the bar and vice versa. While the room was nicely decorated and had an elegant and romantic setting the table positions for couples were in the front by the heavy traffic areas. That would be my only suggestion is a change of layout for couples seating. There were only couples dining there and no larger groups.
The quality and quantity of food was outstanding!!!!
Overall, an very nice meal and a place we will return to visit and stay!
the crab cake was a delicious appetizer split between the two of us. the scallops with corn risotto with braised greens on top was also very good. my husband got the gulf fish with sausage and their dixie grits. we thought it was a waste of fish cuz all you could taste was the sausage. the grits were good, though. we didn't try any desserts - our wine was superb and served as our dessert. the wine was called lagaria, a very crisp, 2013 pinot grigio.
our server and busboy were very attentive.
