Good good, very nice waiter
When we first got there we were given glass cups for water which 4/7 cups were dirty one even had lipstick marks on it. Disgusting. The food was pretty good but they could’ve plated it nicer, defiantly not photo worthy. Also we ordered 2 full pitchers of sangria and watched while the other servers poured it into people’s glasses while we had to pour it ourselves which was disappointing. We defiantly could’ve received better service considering the prices and the fact that they automatically added tip to our bill even though we only had 7 people and 2 of those were kids who did not order anything. This dinner experience at the Barge was definately not as good as we expected.
Delicious as always. One of my favorite spots to visit when i have adult time.
Great place to have a quiet moment and share personal time. Food was fantastic and price was moderate. Would go back .
ALWAYS!!!! Consistent. Food is without doubt - worth the price and prepared perfectly. Baked potato is delicious - every time!!!
Alex is always accommodating and sat us right away even though I had to change the number of people. I had my usual fried scrod, french fries and coleslaw. Love their bread sticks. Everyone enjoyed their lunch. I'm happy this restaurant is on Open Table as I go there often and love it every time. Alex's party buffets are also wonderful.
Good food, pleasant waiter!
We went to The Barge to celebrate our daughter’s birthday. We had requested a window table on the OPEN TABLE app and were seated upon arrival. Our waitress Kathleen was excellent & attentive to all our needs, as was the entire staff. The 5 of us shared 3 different appetizers and all chose different entrees. As we have come to expect, everything was excellent. The food was well prepared and the portions were generous. As always, the Sangria was perfect. The Barge will always be one of our favorite restaurants.
I guess I had higher expectations it was not really romantic it is more of a family restaurant.
The food was very expensive for the amount that you pay you get small portion for $25 you'll get for shrimps for scallops and a fish I believe you should get more than that for $25 that includes vegetable and a baked potato my daughter steak wasn't cooked properly it was sent back 3 times for my sister-in-law husband cook wrong she requested it a well done steak she got a medium rare the place was once a good place to go to it seems like where was cooking back there is not cooking the food properly I don't think the manager's even expecting the food other than that the atmosphere was okay. I will never go back again it was my third time I gave it a Time a shot unfortunately did not meet my expectations
One of our favorite places to eat. We go there often. Will continue to go every chance we get. The food is outstanding and the service is wonderful.
Great Valentine’s Day menu
Delicious food, very reasonable prices. Best crab cocktail I've ever had!
as usual the food was very good. We always enjoy the fresh fish
Out for a birthday dinner with family. Dinner and service were good.
Visited on a Tuesday night in January so we really didn't need a reservation. The food was delicious, the restaurant was quiet and our server was great.
I had lobster too many bread crumbs lobster had hardly any meat on it
Wonderful like always
My annual office party at the Barge was perfect - great food, lovely view, and great service with Audrey. We have dined at the Barge many times and always enjoy going there. The atmosphere is relaxed and homey and the food is fresh and tasty. Overall, a classic lunch venue with a spectacular view of Raritan Bay (especially pretty when it's snowing, as it was last week).
My husband bday. It was spontaneous. The food was great. We had a 2 1/2 pound lobster it was delicious. Close to the water. After dinner we stroll on the boardwalk. Really nice scenery.
Kenny is the best waiter we ever had!! The food and service was wonderful
The Barge is our favorite restaurant. Food is always perfect.
Service staff always pleasant
FOOD WAS AWESOME SERVICE WAS FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL. OUR WAITER WAS OUTSTANDING EVEN TOOK A FAMILY PICTURE FOR US. WE WILL BE BACK AGAIN.
Our favorite Friday night restaurant for dinner. We just love it here. Their scallops, Mahi Mahi, Stuffed flounder and so many other items are just great. Always fresh and really tasty. Our server, Rene, is the best.
Service was great. Special requests were handled well. There is something for everyone when you're a larger group. Of the several times I've eaten here, this was the first time all my seafood was overcooked. The other members of my group didn't have any issues/
Another delicious meal with friends. It's the only place I'll order broiled scallops since I haven't found another restaurant to compete with the Barge's sizzling plate that keeps everything hot all through the meal. Love the french fries and onion rings also.
While the food was well prepared ( as always) and of good value, the service was quite poor. The Waitress was at first thrown off when we asked for separate checks (we were 2 couples, so only two checks needed). She seemed in a great rush to take our orders -even though the restaurant was only moderately crowded (we sat at a table for 4 in the bar area) and it was far from closing time. In fact, she was in such a rush to serve the salads, that parts of my arrived on my lap - with NO apology or acknowledgment. The main course was prepared as we'd asked but - again - it was served hurridly - almost thrown in from of us. So while we did enjoy the food - the service did make us uncomfortable and that was unnecessary. Despite this, we did leave a propper (15%) tip - but do feel the need to report this poor service .
Portions are small. Lobster was inedible. The restaurant has not been updated in many years and it shows.
The Barge never ceases to amaze me. It's so overlooked. Who would ever order escargot there, but I did. What an awesome surprise. Best escargot since 1950 at The Drake, in NY. Sweet, plump, select, delectable, and yet served the old fashioned way: in the shells! Best Manhattan clam chowder, too. I keep going back for more.
My wife ordered the crab cakes and was surprised that they were not crab cakes at all, but fishy tasting fish cakes filled with fish and cheap filler. In addition the meal was topped off by our waiter spilling an entire glass of water in the middle of the table. I don't think I will be back to the barge in my lifetime!
Went for our anniversary which we noted on the reservation. We were seated at a table in the bar area with the TVs blaring and we couldn’t hear each other instead of main dining room. I am allergic to mushrooms. After reviewing the menu and seeing mushrooms listed for some dishes I ordered the Chef Masterpiece, which did not have mushrooms listed. My dish came out covered in them. After telling the server that the menu didn’t list that and my allergy, I requested a new dish be made. 8 minutes later came back out and I start to eat and lo and behold, a mushroom. They just removed them and sent me the original dish. I couldn’t eat it at that point. Was still charged the full meal price but they gave me a piece of cheesecake on the house. Thankfully I didn’t become ill after this experience
We have been to the Barge many times the past few years. This my Dad’s favorite place as he grew up near by. We both had the blackened Scrod which was surprisingly pretty good. Salad-soup-vegetable & coffee for under $20. Who does that! I’d go back
The service was not that great and our dinners were tastless. This place has gone DOWN DOWN DOWNand we will never go back
I don't typically do this, but this restaurant had to have been one of the worst dining experiences I've had in a long time. I'm writing this review on behalf of my husband because he's a huge fan of Open Table and this is his account. Anyway, prior to dinner, I was away for a few months and had just returned home from a work assignment when my husband suggested we have a "date night". I was really looking forward to the meal because I love seafood and hadn't eaten anything fancy during my work trip. When we arrived, the waitress came to our table to drop off the menus and ask about drinks. She then took about ten minutes to eventually come back with waters and then take our orders. When our orders arrived, they were both drenched in butter and not very appetizing. I ordered the crab cake and my husband had the steak and lobster. Needless to say, my entire meal was soaked in butter and crab cake did not taste like crab AT ALL; not even imitation crab meat. Additionally, my husband's steak and lobster were extremely bland. I really wish we would have liked the food and had a better experience, but that's not the case.
We had dinner for 14 people and it is for our engagement dinner. The owner was very nice and friendly, our waiter was wonderful and really took a good care of us. Everyone was very happy and satisfied with the food. Great time, great place and great meal! Thanks.
Food was mediocre, service was sub par. Prices were very inexpensive. Wine list was pretty much non existent. If your in the area, go to the the Armory across the street.
I had fun we sat outdoors and the DJ / Singer kept the crown going he was very entertaining . The food was very good. Great place to take a date and break the ice.
Appetizers were very good. Dinner was a little bland and tasteless. I had the steak and shrimp scampi, and both were not very tasty, unless I added plenty of salt and pepper. The shrimp scampi over rice had very little scampi sauce, which made it very dry. That being said, as apps, we had raw clams, clams casino, fried calamari, potato skins - and they all were very good as was dessert.
Nice atmosphere with great views of the sailboats on the river.
It was nice, the service a little bit slow but I like it. Food was ok, interesting way of presentation
