Greasy bar food. Recommend changing dirty grease in fryer. Limp fries. Filthy bathroom leaking toilet at base.
a good choice before a performance at 59 E. 59 theatre if you can tolerate loud conversations; too bad there is nothing to muffle the sounds. the food and drink are good and there are good happy hour specials. service is somewhat lacking and this was the second time that we had a problem with the bill which had to be corrected in our favor so buyer beware and look it over!
We were very pleased with the ambiance, the food and the value. The wait staff couldn't have been nicer. We would definitely come back.
I enjoy the happy hour drinks, appetizers and the friendly staff
Great drinks, new ones every time we come in. There is always something on the menu for everyone in our party. We come often - very near 59E59 theater and they give a discount for members.
Great Services. Seating is comfortable. great for brunch.
The skylight in the back room makes for a great brunch vibe. Staff happily accommodated a last minute change to our party size, and our server was helpful and funny.
My wife and I went out for a late dinner near our hotel, and this restaurant was just right. It was very reasonably priced for Manhattan, the service was amazing, and the chicken liver pate was incredible! It was really noisy, but we figured it would be. I would definitely go back.
Excellent food, service and ambiance! Will def come back!
Have always enjoyed our meals at The Bar Room. The fact that it's almost always got a buzz going is a good indication that others concur. Lively happy hours take place in the front bar area. The dining room in back is cozy and they've accommodated requests for specific tables when making reservations which is nice. Have tasted a wide range of the appetizers and they are all quite good. The brussel sprouts, accompanied by a nice dry martini or glass of wine, are yummy. The shrimp tacos have a nice little kick. The pork belly sliders are decadently inappropriate. The chopped salad is a usual go to, however, their variety of kale salads have always been good. Like the chicken paillard...pounded thin with a light glaze and generous topping of greens. Have had the pork chop and it was one of the best I've had with its cherry mustard drizzle. The hamburger is also very good. Always worth the return visits and as they tweak the menu from time to time so there's always something new or brought back to choose from.
The value is good. The dining room is much less noisy than the bar. It's a pleasant place.
Made a reservation through Open Table for Saturday Brunch. Staff was attentive, expecting us by name. Dining area was lovely. Wait staff were fantastic and the food was wonderful! Loved everything!
One of my favorite place for cocktails. The pork buns are fab.
Go to place that has a diverse menu.
Perfect every time!
Excellent veggie meals we shared. Enjoyed food and ambiance and good serbice.
Too noisy by far. Could not wait to get out of there. Looked like a great bar crowd if thats you pleasure. We were looking for dinner (without a headache). Food was just average. Will not be back
Food and service for good. Cute spot for dinner
Over priced for less than mediocre food. Sorry to be so negative but I must be very transparent.
We needed a place for pre theater and was pleasantly surprised! FYI, the tables are bit too close together, it was hard not listening in on the conversation going on next to me and the bar service was pretty slow for a Friday night at happy hour; otherwise the drinks were great and so was the food.
A favorite local venue, with former and my adult children. It's a go-to spot that never disappoints in both cuisine and staff. So enjoy each and every time I go!
We met here for a meal before theater. The food was really good - I recommend the shrimp taco appetizer. The service was very good - and we had a lovely time.
This was our 2nd try. Way too loud. Food and service is not exceptional enough to overcome the noise level. It must be the acoustics of the space.
Amazing burger and I love the decor!
The food is good. The place is VERY loud. The prices are too high for the quality and ambiance.
Very accommodating of food allergies. Anyone with them will understand why this is so great!
Packed on a frigid Friday night. Honored our reservation--seated promptly. Very good cocktails.
Salmon add-on in chopped salad was cooked perfectly. Pork buns (appetizer) were fabulous!
Was sat by the bar which was cool, I like the vibe of this place in the bar. However, once I placed my drink order it took more than 15 minutes to get it. Then I ordered their famous burger and was excited, especially at the higher price point. One would think a burger that is so highly touted would not be frozen. I ordered medium and it came out in no joke 7 minutes. Not only was this a bad sign but it was so greasy that their was a grease pool on the plate. Honestly, the burger tasted like a deli burger that would have been $5. Honestly, a Big Mac had more flavor. There is a place we go to for business meetings downtown where we all get a $30 burger and don’t mind because it’s worth every penny. This burger however, was worth just penny’s. Skip and avoid.
Went for my sons 21st birthday. He picked it our for a quick internet search. The food was very good, the service was outstanding, and despite being crowded and loud it did not feel overwhelming. Overall, a good fit for a 21st birthday dinner.....Thank you.
Our server, Andy, was on point! Nice ambiance. Brussels were amazing but a bit too saucy, chicken was slightly undercooked.
Fun, lively and great happy hour!!! Whether with your girls or on a date - will have good time !
We all had an enjoyable meal. The buffalo cauliflower was totally amazing!!
Amazing ambiance, Valentine’s Day dinner was very nice. We enjoyed the cocktails as well as the food. The staff was very attantive and friendly. Xoxo
Great place with very solid small menu and reasonable prices. The burger is better than many on the "top burger" lists that float around. Great place for a date.
It’s an average place. Tried it twice before reviewing it. It’s a very loud space so it’s not worth it for me to go back for another try.
Food was standard to good brunch fare (we ordered chicken and waffles, a breakfast burrito, and eggs Benedict) - the interior is lovely and it was relatively empty for a Sunday brunch, which was to our liking as it made it seem more private. It might be a more lively spot for late night drinks - the bar looked pretty nice.
Great spot in the UES! We were at an event at the Metropolitan Club - and came to The Bar Room for a girls dinner afterwards. It would be a great spot for groups or a casual date night
Insane place - we could not even stayduento decibel level. But the waiter was one of the most accommodating, genuinely nice and helpful people I have encountered in a restaurant lately. Went above and beyond to help us find an alternative. He is the only thing that would make me even think of returning.
Lunch was ok.
Nice place for lunch and drinks. Old style bar with unique dining area. Nice.
