The Badali Bar and Cucina Ratings and Reviews
I have to say that it was rather underwhelming at Toronto prices. Our bill for 4 of us was over $200 but didn't feel that the meals were satisfying. While it's not a bad place, I wouldn't go back just because I know that I can get better Italian food elsewhere for the same price.
We went for dinner. Large Italian menu for selection with 3 additional specials to choose from. After we ordered the assistant server brought the bread, the poured oil & balsamic vinegar into one dish... which we would have preferred to pour our own into our own individual plates... we're not that impressed with sharing. There was a large crowd of what appeared to be an after work quick drink gang. Although they were in the next section of the restaurant they were loud, made it difficult for us to talk at our table. Meals were good, nice presentation a generous size serving. Not much of a dessert selection.
There were 8 of us that got together for a Xmas get together. 6 of us were from out of town ( Thunder Bay & Sudbury) one couple local . So it was special . I immediately asked a young man to turn the background music down , we were there to talk !
We arrived at 6:30 so restaurant was not busy .3ordered the seafood special -scallops-my gosh if I had gotten that dish it would have gone back! An appetizer portion of three scallops for a $30.00 entree & it was served cold - Embarrassing!!!
The other 5 were happy , my rigatoni fed the three that ordered the special as well ( I’m a lite eater & I had a good portion ) The Blood Orange Sherbet was out of this world good ! My husband loved his burger. The ravioli was enjoyed by two .
The servers came around very often, but that didn't guarantee the service being great. The water was filled often (Thank you!), but someone (not our server) took our bread and dip when we had 3 full slices uneaten without asking. And when we tried to ask him to bring it back, he didn't seem to have heard because he just looked at us, nodded, then continued to walk away with the bread. There were a few other times that he took away plates with food still on them or plates that we were keeping for sharing food that we needed to stop him and ask him to leave it.
The service wasn't bad, but I think they could have been more attentive to what we actually wanted instead of assumed what they thought we wanted.
Went here for a friends bday with a group of 8! The table and location was great (close to union) and they had balloons on the table when we arrived. The food was delicious! Will be recommending to friends looking for a place to eat in toronto. Thanks again
Overall, the food was fair but not great! The bruschetta was bland and boring. More oil mixed in with the tomatoes would have been a nice touch. The main meals were good. The apple crostata was terrible, lacking in flavor and spice. I would try a different dessert the next time.
Great nite - second time at this restaurant - both times for Pre- concert dinners. Great service, amazing food and drinks. Prompt attention to our table - with refills of bread and drinks. Wait-staff on both occasions had great personalities, knew the menu & specials of the day and were very helpful to make sure we got our orders in before the kitchen rush, to ensure we could eat at a leisurely pace prior to our show.
Food looked and tasted great. would definitely recommend and will be back.
The ambiance was great. DJ was wonderful setting the mood for the upcoming Janet Jackson concert that night. Service was perfection. And the food was absolutely outstanding. Hot to the table and delicious. You could taste the freshness in the herbs and spices used.
Owner was on the floor, talking to patrons which was very nice to see. Dj was fun and friendly to everyone.
Absolutely love this restaurant and looking forward to having a girls night there very soon.
Waiter was great made sure our food order got in some we made it to the hockey game in time. We both had the burger and craft beer pregame special and although I don’t think it is any great value (you. Get a beer but no fries for $3 more than the burger and fries price) the burger was great. Good spot before the game!
While the food and service were very good, this establishment is completely inaccessible to those who have a physical disability.
My daughter and I were dining prior to attending an event, and she is confined to a wheelchair. When we arrived at the front entrance, there were approximately 10 stairs up to the front entrance. I had to carry her wheelchair up (and down) those stairs, while separately supporting my daughter for the same long and difficult task of gaining entrance (and departing).
Prior to leaving, we discovered that the bathroom had only 3 smaller bathroom stalls. There was no larger stall and no wall bars to support a safe transfer. Again, I needed to help guide her in and out of this potentially dangerous situation...for the most basic of needs!
I was very disappointed to discover that there had been no attempt to comply with current laws to create barrier-free access for those who have disabilities.
I will not be returning to this restaurant again.
A busy place because it's convenient to sports & theatres. A good selection of Italian foods (pastas, pizzas, etc.) that should please most everyone. Often hosts larger groups who can be somewhat noisy and the acoustics don't muffle the sound much so quiet conversation may be a bit challenging at times. We arrived late due to heavy traffic but still got seated because there were no sporting events that evening. We had theatre tickets and the staff expedited our service accordingly. Prompt, friendly, and efficient.
Food was excellent. Served hot. Portions just right. Service was attentive. A good selection of menu items. Only complaint was the seating. We were seated at the front of the restaurant at a small table so close to the next table you couldn't get up and walk between them without moving the table. I felt you could literally reach across the table to touch the one beside.
