The Badali Bar and Cucina Ratings and Reviews
Overall, the food was fair but not great! The bruschetta was bland and boring. More oil mixed in with the tomatoes would have been a nice touch. The main meals were good. The apple crostata was terrible, lacking in flavor and spice. I would try a different dessert the next time.
Great nite - second time at this restaurant - both times for Pre- concert dinners. Great service, amazing food and drinks. Prompt attention to our table - with refills of bread and drinks. Wait-staff on both occasions had great personalities, knew the menu & specials of the day and were very helpful to make sure we got our orders in before the kitchen rush, to ensure we could eat at a leisurely pace prior to our show.
Food looked and tasted great. would definitely recommend and will be back.
The ambiance was great. DJ was wonderful setting the mood for the upcoming Janet Jackson concert that night. Service was perfection. And the food was absolutely outstanding. Hot to the table and delicious. You could taste the freshness in the herbs and spices used.
Owner was on the floor, talking to patrons which was very nice to see. Dj was fun and friendly to everyone.
Absolutely love this restaurant and looking forward to having a girls night there very soon.
Waiter was great made sure our food order got in some we made it to the hockey game in time. We both had the burger and craft beer pregame special and although I don’t think it is any great value (you. Get a beer but no fries for $3 more than the burger and fries price) the burger was great. Good spot before the game!
While the food and service were very good, this establishment is completely inaccessible to those who have a physical disability.
My daughter and I were dining prior to attending an event, and she is confined to a wheelchair. When we arrived at the front entrance, there were approximately 10 stairs up to the front entrance. I had to carry her wheelchair up (and down) those stairs, while separately supporting my daughter for the same long and difficult task of gaining entrance (and departing).
Prior to leaving, we discovered that the bathroom had only 3 smaller bathroom stalls. There was no larger stall and no wall bars to support a safe transfer. Again, I needed to help guide her in and out of this potentially dangerous situation...for the most basic of needs!
I was very disappointed to discover that there had been no attempt to comply with current laws to create barrier-free access for those who have disabilities.
I will not be returning to this restaurant again.
A busy place because it's convenient to sports & theatres. A good selection of Italian foods (pastas, pizzas, etc.) that should please most everyone. Often hosts larger groups who can be somewhat noisy and the acoustics don't muffle the sound much so quiet conversation may be a bit challenging at times. We arrived late due to heavy traffic but still got seated because there were no sporting events that evening. We had theatre tickets and the staff expedited our service accordingly. Prompt, friendly, and efficient.
Food was excellent. Served hot. Portions just right. Service was attentive. A good selection of menu items. Only complaint was the seating. We were seated at the front of the restaurant at a small table so close to the next table you couldn't get up and walk between them without moving the table. I felt you could literally reach across the table to touch the one beside.
We were heading to the Jays game so we made reservations and expected it to be busy.
We arrived at 7:15 by 7:45 we had water and had not seen the waiter. We flagged down a manager and asked for bread while we wait still respecting they were busy. She gives a 15% off apps next visit and bread. A waiter comes by takes our orders. All good we received our apps and waited. At 9:00 we realized the tables were turned over everywhere. I went to find the manager once again and the excuses started at 9:15 we got up to leave hurry rush now everyone is at our table. We agreed to pay for the drinks and leave when the bill came they overcharged jus $30.00 for the drinks!!! We left the coupons on the empty table. Yikes can forgive being busy but how can you loose our order twice??
This was our third weekend in a row dining at Joe Badali's .
Our first visit was prior to a concert- the service was quick and the meal very good.
It was mentioned we were celebrating a birthday but was overlooked as the server was quite busy with other tables.
The next weekend we went with a group of nine friends- and as expected another busy night.
We were sent a complimentary plate of cannoli's to compensate for our meals being delayed. Our meals were worth the wait and the service was good.
The following weekend we went back ( again a large group- to celebrate my husbands birthday).
Two servers thanked us for coming back- we were very surprised they recognized us.
Again good service and another great dinner.
Dessert was brought to my husband - thank you!
We will be back.
I came here with a couple of friends before the Lady Gaga concert. The restaurant is huge, so it was one of very few that had reservations open near the ACC when I was making the reservation the night before the concert. I arrived with one friend and told them I had a reservation. They sat us in the back dining area, which was much quieter than the front of the house which had a large bar and a lot of people there for after work drinks, so it's very noisy.
$60 + tip for a salad, pasta and a drink. Not a bad price....if the food had any flavour. The caprese salad literally tasted like nothing. I don't know how else to describe it. It was so bland. The rigatoni bolognese wasn't too bad. You get a decent size portion, and I was certainly full after my meal. For the price I would have hoped for homemade pasta, which this definitely wasn't. White sangria was okay. It tasted more like juice than a wine drink.
Although I wouldn't choose to come here for a nice date, this place serves a purpose: it's great for tourists, it's great for large groups, it's nearby union and the ACC if you're checking out a show, and takes reservations. Because it's a tourist trap, it's definitely overpriced IMO, but if I wanted to make a reso to have dinner before another event at the ACC I would consider coming here again.
