Great ambiance, music and the GM John was great with seating our group where we wanted for the dinner. Astor room never fails.

An old-fashioned-looking place which is a big plus; food excellent And, i loved the CowParade cow atop the bar. Highly recommended venue.

Started with Happy Hour at Beaver bar. Freddie the Bartender was awesome. Then we moved to the dining room for dinner. We were very pleased. The jazz singer and pianist was sooo good.

I didn't have a bad experience though I would have liked it better if the food was good. I ordered a steak, medium rare, and it was too chewy and the only flavor i tasted was the overbearing sauce. My date didn't enjoy her pasta as well. I live a few blocks from the location but I dont think i will be back unless it's just for drinks.

The service and classic atmosphere was very nice as we expected...but as far as the food is concerned, the high-priced Rib-Eye Steak entre was a total and absolute DISAPPOINTMENT. For close to $50 at a supposedly well-known and "highly respected" restaurant, you'd expect to get at least a halfway DECENT and TENDER cut of meat. But instead, what I got was a TOUGH, CHEAP piece of cut-up CHUCK STEAK that they tried to pass over as an EXPENSIVE, PRIME-CUT RIB-EYE! SAD...very sad, indeed.

Never again!!!

Very courteous and attentive staff in a comfortable, old world setting. It was very pleasantly set off by some very fine and well chosen live music. My date loved one song in particular (a Leonard Cohen composition) and when I requested from the piano player that she play that song again, she very politely acquiesced and it helped make the evening a memorable one.

The piano singer was an excellent accompaniment to the brunch. She had a voice reminiscent of Nora Jones. The music filled the room. Not background music and it was difficult to have a conversation . Would still recommend and return.

THE ASTOR ROOM IS RIGHT NEXT DOOR TO THE MUSEUM OF MOVING IMAGE (WORTH A VISIT) SO IS VERY CONVENIENT FOR DINNER. GREAT, MOVIE ATMOSPHERE. SERVICE WAS EXCELLENT AND THE FOOD WAS GREAT! THE BRAISED VEAL CHEEKS WERE MEMORABLE AND MY SON LOVED THE TONY BENNET (HIS MOM'S RECIPE) LASAGNA.

The Astor Room serves up a totally enjoyable dining experience: history, decor, atmosphere, good food and service and ambience. Other than ceiling replacement due to water damage, the decor is the same as the old days when Astoria's Kaufman Astoria Studios was called Paramount Studios and WC Fields etc. were working there.
I was here for Sunday brunch, which included live music, and intend to come back!
For you drinkers out there, the [original] bar is gorgeous and do check out the huge & sequined bull on top of the bar. :)

Great place to go before or after a visit to the Museum of the Moving Image. Delicious food, good drinks, and nice wait staff. The only thing I would change is the temperature of the room -- chilly!

Service was very slow, the server continuously forgot about us and did not check in with my date and I. My water glass was cracked and was not replaced. Getting drinks were very difficult. The first caipirinha I had was great. The second caipirinha was terrible that I could not even drink, and the waiter was aware and still charged me for something I hated. The food was good but wasn't worth going. The staff only focused on people that were part of the movie industry. This is a terrible place for a date. When I eat at a place in this price range, typically I expect everything to be close to flawless. This experience was far from that and we will not be back.

I have been to the Astor Room on several occasions and my return is always prompted by the jazz ensembles which make for a great evening of dining and music at a reasonable price.

We went after my brother's concert and we had a lovely pianist play for us. The ambiance and the food were great. Especially the apple crepe for dessert was fabulous. I really enjoy my time there every time I go. It is also very affordable for a special occasion and considering all you get with the experience. Will go again.

The ambiance was great. I couldn't give it 5 stars because my husband's rib eye steak was very tough. My short rib dish was delicious as was the beef tartare appetizer. Wednesday from 8 to 10 is a showcase of singers.

Made a reservation for The Astor Room for a Mothers' Day celebration - for just myself and my husband - six days before the big event. We've eaten here before, so we were expecting the standard Sunday jazz brunch - usually Tiffany sings on Sunday - in the dining room adjacent to the bar, and the same quality of food we've had in the past. Instead, for Mothers' Day, they upped the price $5 per head, and they sat us in a back room. We were the only couple surrounded by large tables of families with small, bombastic kids. I have no problem seating families together - in fact, it's a great idea....but why in the world they'd put a couple, adults, no kids, back there when there were tables in the main dining area is a mystery. And when we asked, we were told that those tables were reserved...which made no sense, as we had reservations too!! It will be our last visit to eat at the Astor Room, and I cannot recommend anyone go there in the future.

The food is amazing, the service is great and when Tifany is performing between noon and 4 pm you do not want to leave this little gem.
