It was pretty okay. Apparently they are closing for 2 months renovation so they didn’t have a lot of things on the menu
Amazing service from the hostess to the waitress, great jazz performers, food was outstanding!
The staff are very warm, friendly and professional. The venue is very nice, it really does harken back to the days of the old movie studio, though not as big as I thought. When the entertainer is playing, she was very talented, it can be a bit loud. So, if quiet conversation is on your agenda, it's probably not the right spot. The crowd was pretty diverse and well dressed for the most part. The oysters were great! Plump, fresh and ice cold. The Scottish salmon was spot on and the beef Wellington was excellent and a very nice portion. My vodka martinis were perfect. You should check this place out, you won't be disappointed. The outdoor seating looks like it would be very nice when the season is right.
Lousy over-priced, over-cooked food...non attentive service...and d-grade jazz musicians all in a cheese basement bar. Let's just say this is a must miss for any occasion.
It was wonderful for us. There's a range of spots which we're identifying in the JH/Woodside/LIC area at which we 2 can eat great food, wonderful ambiance, convenience, for about $100 - and this one just made the list. We also have a MOMI membership and so this will work out just fine. $1 per raw oyster on the half shell? You can't touch this. We both really enjoyed our experience. Draft beer was good - and my wife liked the wine. Excellent. And it was great to see such a lively bar scene - we're not the type - with great interactions between bartenders and clientele. Altogether, this was exactly the kind of experience I wanted to have here. I'm a big fan of dark wood interiors - they help establish privacy for each dining unit. Great.
Nice atmosphere and good food. I take my out of town friends there for the show biz history as well.
I took my Aunt and a few of her friends for a Christmas Eve birthday ladies brunch (a group of ladies ranging ages 63-89 years youmg). We had a wonderful time from the moment we parked until we left. John, the manager, and his fantastic wait staff treated us like movie stars or old family friends that had been away for a while. Food was great and mimosas were tasty and plentiful. only critque is that the Astor Disaster dish isn't that awesome, but everything else was delicious!!
Been there a couple of times and it doesn't disappoint.
The entire staff are extremely friendly , especially the manager of the house. He is so friendly and entertaining as well . They make you feel as if you are home. Great place for any occasion . The live music is amazing.
Let me start by saying I love the Astor Room. It's one of my favorite Astoria restaurants. The food is great, the venue is outstanding and the service is always good. However, this visit was not my fave. It was a Saturday night, the weekend before Christmas, and my son and I were having our Christmas get together. We expected an elegant, low key dining experience as we had had in the past. But this night the jazz band was so deafeningly loud that the hostess could not hear me say my name to confirm our reservation. While I would have preferred to be in the main dining room, which is why I made sure I had a reservation, we had to settle for the back room and request that they turn down the piped in music from the main room as it was almost as loud in the back as it was in the front. For the first time since we began going to the Astor Room, I considered leaving and going somewhere else. Loud music is not conducive to fine dining.
