The Assembly House is a gorgeous Georgian gem perfectly located in the heart of Norwich. We set out to create the kind of establishment we'd love to find in one of the UK's most beautiful cities, one where old-fashioned hospitality is valued, food is delicious and where beautiful surroundings can be found hidden around every corner.
From breakfast where we serve our unique Beforenoon Tea - the breakfast edition of afternoon tea - to lunch which includes Assembly House classics and grazing boards, we're open seven days a week.
We're most famous for our themed afternoon teas which change regularly and are served from noon until last service at 3.30pm daily. As the Home of Afternoon Tea, we also serve some spectacular savoury versions of tea, including Beforenoon Tea, seafood option Afternoon Sea and our cheese-based option Afternoon Cheese. Please let us know your dietary adaptations for vegan, dairy-free, gluten-free or vegetarian teas at least 24 hours in advance.

    It's the multi-award winning service we're famous for: four gorgeous tiers served under glittering chandeliers between 12pm & 3.30pm! Afternoon Tea at The Assembly House is £32.00 for one (£18.95 for under-12s) plus a 10% discretionary service charge. ALL afternoon teas served are themed, other than for pre-booked private events. Your booking will be for one of several of our dining rooms, including the main restaurant. We look forward to you being our guests!     The Assembly House is the home of Beforenoon Tea, the breakfast edit of our award-winning afternoon tea served EVERY DAY in our restaurant between 8am to 11am. Beforenoon Tea makes any day a celebration! The menu includes a slightly smaller version of one of our hot freshly-cooked breakfasts and then the Beforenoon Tea Stand which is filled with treats including a ‘fried egg' mango and vanilla cheesecake and cereal-based cakes and tarts. Savouries include mini cream cheese and smoked salmon croissants, Cheddar Cheese, Colman's Mustard and chive scones with bacon jam, three-cheese toasties and Assembly House sausage rolls. Then choose tea or coffee chocolate mousse. All served with loose leaf English Breakfast tea or coffee!

    Available seven days a week from 8am to 11am, our breakfast menu includes favourites such as a Full English Fry-up packed full of local ingredients to Posh Cheese on Toast, our popular Beforenoon Tea (a breakfast edition of our afternoon tea served on three tiers) to our Double-Baked Cheddar and Parmesan Soufflés, Kedgeree to Eggs Benedict, Smoked Salmon and Scrambled Eggs on sourdough to Buttermilk Pancakes with berries and creme fraiche or Chocolate...There's something for everyone on the menu! We also have vegan and vegetarian fry-ups available and homemade breakfast beans on toast. Start your day the right way: under chandeliers!

    As usual, everything of a good standard, and we enjoy our regular visits here. However, I wish they would reinstate a lighter salad option to the lunch menu to give an alternative to those who don’t wish for a carb-heavy or rich meal. I miss their Caesar salad!

    Good afternoon tea in beautiful surroundings. Only fault was I would have liked china cups, but the choice of teas , with real tea leaves and lots of it was good. Food excellent.

    What a great experience, first time we had an afternoon tea, it was a gift from our son. Plenty to eat,in fact we took a box home as we couldn’t eat it all. Staff were very friendly and polite, excellent choice of beverages

    It was our first time. And was an amazing experience especiallyfor my sons 18th birthday. We were very well taken care off. Lovely staff, lovely service. Delicious food. And beautiful building. We really enjoy our time at assembly house. And will be back to visit again. Thank you to the lovely staff who made our experience more enjoyable and memorable

    I had afternoon tea voucher bought as Christmas present from my husband, , so looked forward to this for a while. The setting of the Assembly House, Norwich was lovely, and made it special. We were greeted on arrival, the staff serving were attentive and professional. The food was beautifully presented. We had Beauty &The Beast themed tea. There was so much we couldn't eat it all, and they provided a box so we could take away some cakes. It was a reaĺly memorable experience. Thank you

    Fabulous building, lovely setting. Superb service and the afternoon tea was one of our best ever. The standard was exceptional and the lovely touches celebrating our wedding anniversary were very much appreciated. We absolutely loved it.

    Extremely well organised event. We felt very welcomed from the moment we arrived, the afternoon tea and drinks were served and all of the sumptuous offerings were explained. Attention to detail was amazing. It was our daughter’s 30th birthday celebration, the team put a sweet congratulations card on the table for her and even brought out a slice of cake with a candle in to make the occasion even more special. All of the staff were attentive and professional, and the amazing food tasted every bit as good as it looked. I cannot rate this venue highly enough.

    Everything about the food, the place and staff was incredible. Had a lovely afternoon tea with family members for three birthdays at once and all of the staff accommodated every need or wish for the day! Very good value for money, will definitely be going again
