Fantastic - best meal we've had in a very long time. My girlfriend and I ate there while spending a weekend away at the Inn. The staff was polite and approachable, and the food was exquisite. The sommelier was extremely friendly and helpful in choosing a bottle of wine that we'd both enjoy.
Food was divine - glad to have stumbled upon the Ashby.
Fabulous meal and service in a quiet and relaxed atmosphere. We dine out often in notable restaurants; this was a meal we will long remember.
Delightful evening. Many thanks to the the waitresses/waiter
Well designed menu, outstanding food, knowledgeable and friendly staff. An exceptional night from start to finish.
Absolutely remarkable. The Ashby Inn is a lovely, authentic English-Style Inn with a wonderful restaurant. The menu is creative and the staff is impeccable. The sommelier is an expert in his craft, knowledgeable and approachable. I went here on advise of a colleague who raved about the creative dishes and wonderful service. It lived up to her recommendation and then some. What a lovely gem in the heart of wine country. I will be back!
Excellent experience. Will be back!
Awesome Food and Service - Highly Recommend👍
Delicious food, amazing service and beautiful ambiance.
Had Sunday Brunch with some friends. There were 5 of us. We were seated on the patio, under an umbrella, but not under the covering where there are ceiling fans. I would recommend the latter to help in keeping the bugs away. Service was very nice if just a bit slow; we were there for about 2 1/2 hours. The brunch menu isn't extensive but everything we had, from appetizers to deserts, was beautifully prepared and very good. Portions are sensible, not overly large but more than enough for any reasonable person. No complaint at all about the food. We did not have any wine since we were on our way to a local vineyard after lunch. The price for the 3-course brunch is $40. The entrees ranged from about $14-$19. Overall a very pleasant experience.
We celebrated our 30 anniversary and it was a lovely setting. We sat outside on the covered patio with wonderful views of the the countryside. The portions were a bit on the small side, but with bread and extras we did not leave hungry. The cotton cake was the highlight of the meal.
Beautiful, peaceful setting. Fresh, amazingly tasty food. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. A fabulous meal overall.
Have wanted to visit for several years but something always interfered. Could not be happier that we finally made it.
On the patio for weekend brunch. Spectacular view. Service was perfect—attentive, efficient and perfectly timed. Servers were all professional and outgoing.
Food was outstanding. What appeared to be standard fare if only going by name was actually innovative and very well prepared. Presentation was also top notch.
Our only regret is that we didn’t get there sooner. Top notch experience.
A really cool setting and gourmet food. More expensive than I expected, but a unique experience.
We love The Ashby Inn, the food is amazing and the people are Wonderful! The view is beautiful!
We walked up to the outdoor dining patio and were instantly greeted without having to walk up to a podium. Our table was ready and perfectly located. The food was some of the most imaginative and delicious I'd eaten anywhere in the world. We stayed for 2 1/2 hours and did not want to leave. We will be back.
A drive in the country for Sunday Brunch @ The Ashby Inn is #1 in our book! We sat on the patio at our favorite table overlooking the garden bursting with Japanese Anemones. Perfect weather. Always a warm welcome. We looked at the menu over a bubbly Hillinger brut rose. The current chef has added his special touches (creamed spinach with the Eggs Benedict). We love the warm bread & butter (and they always send us our favorite smoked olive oil). The cold Cantaloupe Gazpacho is a show as they pour the soup over the garnishes in the bowl. Delicious! The burrata, prosciutto & hazelnut salad was great. I had British fish & chips which was excellent. Barry had a cheeseburger w/ Reuben touches (sauerkraut & prosciutto). He loved it! The local beef was the star. My dessert was another UK choice: rich Sticky Toffee Pudding. The chef designed a beautiful dessert for my chocoholic. As good as it was with globs of red & orange fruit sauce, he would have preferred a DARK chocolate treat. All components need to be dark chocolate. We both ended the wonderful feast with cups of Cappuccino.
I have been a patron of the Ashby Inn, over two decades, including with the original owners. I have always been thrilled by the experience there, including, of course, the imaginative cuisine of the chef. I often say to my guests, when the food is graciously served and explained. : We can't eat anything that beautiful; just take a photo and let's go. My suggestion is never taken. I do not take it myself.
This is a restaurant we visit yearly.
We had the vegetarian menu, which was absolutely fabulous. The wine pairings were perfect.
The Sommellier Steve and our waitress Caroline made us feel so comfortable.
The view at the Inn is spectacular.
A great dining experience.
Nice atmosphere and very caring staff. Extensive wine list and great food. Enjoyed all the treats during the meal.
As always everyone and everything was perfect
Outstanding food, service and views of the garden while eating al fresco. Fans overhead keep the temperature pleasant.
Fabulous 5 star all the way. A must experience for any real foodie. Superb !
Amazing date night! Food was amazing and service was even better. Compliments to the chef for the outstanding Chef's menu and wine pairing. Look forward to our return to this hidden gem.
We were so happy to return to The Ashby Inn for Sunday Brunch on the patio. We always receive a warm welcome & sit at our favorite table. Stuart had my favorite bubbly on ice to accompany the warm bread & smoky olive oil (they learn your preferences & bring it to the table). Barry started with a burrata salad while I tried something new: blue crab timbale with many components including citrus caviar (finger limes from Australia). Great fun! Later the chef sent me a sample to take home. Entrees were Barry's flank steak & 62o egg, and my risotto w/ squash blossom tempura. Both were delicious! Chef Tom Whitaker made a special chocolate cheesecake for Barry's birthday (we are celebrating all month) & I had the cotton cake w/ blueberries. We both ended our feast with Cappuccinos. Sadly, this was the last day for this talented chef. He & his family are moving to Florida where he will be the chef at the West Palm Beach restaurant called the Colony. He came over to say good-bye. We wish him great success in the future!
Wonderful food and wine service. Delicious food, presented impeccably.
We took my daughter here for her 21st birthday. The Ashby Inn made the celebration more spectacular than we could have imagined.
Went there for my wife's birthday. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The Inn is a very cool old building including the bar area. Menu was superb!
Outstanding food and service - we’ve been coming here for years and quality has not changed
We love Ashby Inn for dinner and go often. We had an amazing meal as always but what we enjoy the most are the People who work hard to make every experience memorable. We are going back next week!
Exquisitely prepared and presented. Delightful dinner in a scenic country setting. Sommelier was super helpful with the wine pairing.
Wonderful tasting menu, every course inspired and delicious. Wine pairings fit the courses perfectly. Service impeccable without being overbearing. One of the best meals we've had in a long time. Outstanding dining experience.
We were blessed with perfect weather for a day in Paris (Virginia). Enjoying Sunday Brunch on the patio @ The Ashby Inn is one of our favorite pastimes. We arrived early, were ushered to one of our favorite tables overlooking the beautiful garden. Stuart had my favorite bubbly on ice. Our young waitress was completely professional despite being a novice. Her friendly personality will take her far. The chef's menu was excellent. The bread w/ smoky oil that we prefer to butter arrived without our request. I loved the cold Cantaloupe soup (especially the presentation). Barry had the heirloom tomato salad which he enjoyed (but it could be improved if they replaced the ricotta with burrata). We both had the southern fried chicken for our entrees. Crispy, served with satiny mashed potatoes & Savoy lettuce. Sounded odd but tasted great. I had the Sticky toffee pudding for dessert. The chef had a special chocolate dessert for Barry's birthday, followed by house-made chocolates & a gift! It was a small bottle of the smoked olive oil we love. They know how to spoil you here! We already booked another brunch for the 22nd.
The most eloquent meals. Great service great leadership team in and out of kitchen. It’s an amazing experience one must experience to appreciate.
The food and service both were exceptional! We loved seeing all of the local Virginia wines that were on the wine list, and enjoyed the bottle we ordered!
Really a little gem in the Virginia countryside - well worth a visit.
Our stop at the Ashby was nothing short of spectacular. We cannot wait to visit again.
Such a wonderful dinner! The food was amazing. The flavors and blends were perfect. You could tell the chef put a lot of thought into each course. Additionally, they brought out extra courses for us. It is a pricey meal but worth every penny. Highly recommend!
Ashby Inn is fabulous. The food is only exceeded by the service. It is absolutely worth the drive. In fact, the drive is part of the experience. After dining, you can go into Middleburg or visit a winery.
We wanted a night away from the DC nightmare. A great meal in a restful setting. This restaurant was perfect for our needs. A lovely setting, attentive service, great food. Our second visit to this place, and we'll be back again.
