Our server made sure that we were fully satisfied with our service. He was very attentive. And the food was absolutely delicious! I would highly recommend the Ashburn restaurant for a good time with family and friends.
The ambience, aesthetic aspects and even the restrooms were lovely and remarkably pleasing. The drinks were wonderful and the food tasty. The service was wonderful-at first. The busboy/man was so conscientious, capable and attentive. "Sid" the other server present eventually came to our aid. The problem was that "Maria", our server DISAPPEARED, midway through the meal! We were done with our entrees and anticipating the ordering of dessert and after-dinner drinks. Our server was no where in sight. She had 4 other tables in the process of completing their meals. She had vanished! We asked about the additional server, Sid, and we were told that "She was on a BREAK!!!!" In the middle of dinner service-on a Satuday night!???Who does that?!?! When she returned to the floor, approximately 20 minutes later, she never returned to our table. The alternative server, Sid, presented the check. I gave a 30% gratuity- 10% to the busboy/man; 10% to Sid and 10% only to Maria. I spoke to her and shared some advice about how she could have better handled the situation. We shared our concerns with the hostess, her response, " Yes,yes, She was on a break." The mystery of this management decision to allow any breaks during dinner service and in the middle of so many people's meals is confounding!! Unfortunately, this unexpected turn of events negatively impacted and colored our whole dining experience. We would certainly not rush back to this restaurant. There are too many options in this area. Very unfortunate.
We enjoyed a nice evening with our out of town friends who were staying by Ohare. So we thought we'd check this place out and we were so glad we did. The food was delis with good portions and plenty of choices. The mussels, flatbread and short rib were outstanding! Wine selection was good and we like our cab.
Although we didn't spend time in the bar section, it was large and they had a full bar. Hope to be back soon.
The place was lovely, the staff helpful, the food totally unacceptable. My husband and I order a rogout and got a bowl of white beans right out of a can with a few chips of celery.
We ate here while staying at the Loews before an O'Hare flight. What a pleasant surprise. The food was FANTASTIC--cuban sandwich, burger, portobello tacos all highly recommended. Would defintely eat here again over one of the high-priced chain options also available at the hotel. Staff were friendly and service impeccable.
Great stop for having been stranded at O'Hare at the last minute. Food was exceptional
Loved the brunch
Lorenzo was very helpful when my caffeine level was zilch. He met us at the table with coffee (absolutely wonderful coffee). He was truly helpful and you could tell he really wanted to be there. I really wish all servers were this wonderful! The food was also on par with the server. Don't be fooled by the fact that it is a buffet, they did a wonderful job.
I ordered a hot smoked turkey club sandwich. It was neither hot nor was it smoked turkey. Just turkey roll, not actual roast turkey. Tomato on sandwich was mushy. The chicken noodle soup was without taste - the noodles were also mushy and the vegetables were tasteless. The server kept calling me pretty lady. As a woman or 67, I thought this was unprofessional. He was insincere and mostly unseen through the course of our meal. My husband said his roasted chicken tasted all right, but the half rotisserie chicken on the menu was more like a quarter chicken. The best thing about the meal was the rolls, which I ate instead of the cold and not very soft bread on the sandwich.
What a delightful surprise. Everyone throuroughly enjoyed their lunch and our service in booths in the bar area was attentive yet givng four friends time to gab. The tofu and spinach salad was delicious, the dressing served on the side, was flavorful. Fish tacos very good too.
Nice solid food big portions. Apps: loved the pickle & carrot fries. Calamari was in big triangle pieces processed meh. Dinner: Pilot burgers excellent, hanger steak good, fish tacos very good. Wine good.
What stood out was the friendly excellent service. Would stick with ordering traditional American food here. Our group was very happy with our meal.
Great service and food, I had the Buffalo chicken mac & cheese and my coworker had a Cuban Panini. These items were great and at a good price the only thing I did not enjoy was the price of my grilled calamari. The calamari tasted great but for $13 it was a very small portion. If I'm ever back in the Chicago area I will definitely visit the Ashburne again.
This is our second time visiting this restaurant. We attend jazz concerts in the Loew's Montrose Room so it is convenient to eat here. When it was Fresco 21 we had good experiences. Since it's become The Ashburn, not so much. The food is just ok. I had the pork roast which was bordering on dry and the serving portion was very small. His roast chicken was so-so. Two strikes on desserts. First visit we had the brownie with ice cream. The brownie was so dry it became crumbs when we tried to eat it. This time we tried the apple cobbler with vanilla gelato. Awful. Canned apple filling with some crumble on top. Would have just preferred the gelato. Will not go here to eat again. BUT... the band that was playing was fantastic and very enjoyable to listen to through dinner.
The braised short ribs were excellent good size for an appetizer. Octopus salad is flavorful ad blended well with seasonings.
The restaurant was empty on a Saturday night (first red flag). We tried the restaurant week menu and unfortunately, the food missed the mark on every course.
Good option if you don't want to do a steak house since most of the restaurants attached to the hotels in the area are steakhouses. The fish tacos were great!
Service was impeccable, everyone enjoyed the food!
