The Asbury restaurant, nestled in the lobby of the city’s only historic boutique hotel, is named in honor of Louis Asbury, Sr. In 1929, the Charlotte architect designed what is now The Dunhill Hotel. Today, our modern Southern restaurant honors the past, celebrates the seasons, and looks forward. Open seven days a week and serving the longest weekend brunch in Charlotte.

    My daughter and I had brunch on Father's Day. The ambiance, food, and service were top tier. The beignets were awesome. The classic breakfast was on point. The grits passed the fork test and had great taste. The turkey bacon was cooked crispy, without asking for it, bonus there. The eggs fluffy, and the biscuit was the x factor. In definitely putting this place in my rotation.

    Unfortunately the experience wasn’t what it was the first time we ate there. Will try again because our first visit was so good. Not sure what was going on this time. I have recommended the theme dinners that match the theater show after our first visit. This dinner didn’t live up to those expectations.

    We dined at The Asbury before going to see the musical Tina at the Blumenthal Theater. We had an early 5:15 reservation making sure we would have plenty of time before our show at 7:30. We were seated promptly in the pleasant dining room. Our servers were extremely efficient and friendly. We told them we didn’t want to rush but had theater tickets for 7:30. They were great! Our meal was good. The shrimp skewers were delicious, Main course of rib eye, roast potatoes and mixed vegetables was good, not outstanding. The caramel cheesecake was very tasty. Our meal was a set price of $45 which we felt was a good value. The dining room inside the Dunhill Hotel is quiet and nicely decorated. We left at a little after 7 after a very pleasant and relaxing experience.

    If you’re looking for a lively brunch spot, this might not be it. But we were looking for quiet, great service, and delicious food and that’s exactly what we got! Highly recommend. Also recommend the bar for excellent cocktails and chess/checkers and a throw back atmosphere.

    This is one of my go-to restaurants pre-theater. It is a lovely, well designed space with an i intimate feeling. The food is always top quality and the service is professional .

    We live near this restaurant and want it to succeed. We love the idea that they offer theater menus to get us to a show on time. We also love that they offer fun themes to go along with the Broadway shows. We arrived at dinner at 6 to be at our show by 7:30. We assumed a prix-fixed 3 course meal would definitely allow for us to be there with time to spare. Our order was taken quickly after we sat down. Our app arrived very quickly, but without our drinks. Our waitress barely ever looked at us once the app was delivered. She visited other tables multiple times. We finally flagged her down to remind her of our diet Coke order. I guess since we didn't get alcoholic drinks we didn't matter to her. We finished apps quickly by about 6:15. Our main course did not arrive until 6:45. By 7:10 we were waiting for dessert and getting close to show time. We were one of only 2 tables still in the restaurant. We told her to bring the check with our dessert. We took a few bites and left. Their priority is not to get you where you need to be on time. There are many better options in Uptown Charlotte for preshow dinner.

    Do not come for the pre-show prix fix dinner if you want to make it to your show on time. Arrived at 5pm and left at 6:40 without having dessert. If we hadn’t asked for our checks we would have been late to the show.
