Perfect location to have a meal before an event at Blumenthal Performing Arts Center. Food was pretty good and the service was great.

We were sadly given wrong info that we would not be able to have a brunch menu for New Years Day. Poor choice on the part of the chef—we were seated around 4 other tables, all of whom were under the brunch menu expectation as well—1 table got up & left. When I did the initial search on Open Table for NYDay brunch, the Asbury came up & I viewed the menu before making the reservation. We were very disappointed in our options and the portions were terrible. My husband’s liver/onion risotto was maybe 1/2 cup portion and certainly smaller than our appetizer. My Mac & cheese was undercooked & not hot. Our friends’ salads were ok but not up to their expectations either., & one was too spicy which was not in the menu description. The service—our waitress was kind but did not serve or clear the table appropriately. Attire was sloppy and a T-shirt was way too casual for this type of dining experience. The “manager” came to talk to us about the no brunch disappointment and apologized, but did not offer any type of compensation. A real disappointment for our New Year’s Day brunch!

We enjoyed a five-course meal with wine pairings on New Year’s Eve and, initially, we were a little skeptical of the menu. Everything sounded delicious, but it seemed maybe too simple. We were pleasantly surprised by the simple but elegant presentations and the tastes were amazing!!!!! Our waiter paired wines excellently with each course. Definitely a worthwhile find and totally worth the price! If ever in Charlotte again, we would definitely consider dining at the Asbury again.

Asbury is both elegant and humble. The food was/is exquisitely prepared, and elegantly presented in a deliberately understated manner. I reserved a table during the holidays as a treat for the family partly for its location, in uptown Charlotte, partly because it is situated in a hotel designated as part of Historic Trust Preservation. Reserving sight unseen, and without prior recommendations or research, I was not disappointed. I was, in fact, amazed. So was my entire party.

Asbury, as host, you made me radiate in the eyes of my guests. Thank you!

We had an early dinner after a day of travel. The restaurant was empty but for the 2 of us, even if full it would be an intimate dining experience. We had a bit of everything; biscuits, bacon Jam, Parsnip bisque, deviled eggs, Mac-n-cheese and roasted pork belly. All was fantastic and our service was impeccable.

We enjoyed The Asbury for a Christmas dinner. It was three-course fixed price with a great varied selection of entrees. The service was great with a good wine recommendation. There were few restaurants serving on Christmas Day and we were lucky The Asbury was open.

Don’t go. I had read good things about this restaurant. We love dining out and we were highly disappointed. The Brussel sprouts were soggy, the cauliflower tempura was over cooked inside, the biscuit appetizer had no flavor and the large fish was barely enough for one and wasn’t played well with the sides it was paired with. The soup was also too salty. Almost $200 later we were definitely not happy.

The sticky biscuits here will change your life. My group before tried four different sides, almost as an appetizer, and it was great sized portions! Only negative is that the restaurant is quite loud.

I came for dinner before the show and to start ordered the biscuits with bacon jam. This was a very large serving, enough for four. The biscuits I thought were a little dry but the bacon jam was amazing. We then split an order of Brussels and the pork cheeks. The Brussels could have had more sauce on them but the flavor was good. The pork cheeks were very tender but the presentation was off. Also I would have liked chunkier mashed potatoes instead of smooth, but that is a personal preference. Although I wasn't wowed with the food this time I would give it another shot. The space was perfect if you want a quiet low key evening.

Hostess informed waiter that he had our table. He continued to do other tasks other than come to our table. Apologized and comped our appetizer, but then rushed through our ordering.

Food was okay, but I expected more due to attention being paid to executive chef on menu and the spiel from the waiter.

Excellent choice for pre-Blumenthal dinner. Delicious vegetable choices which we shared along with a couple of “small plates” for a varied and delightful lite supper before the symphony. Also great bar offerings. Will go back and recommend.

This restaurant was my choice to spend my birthday dinner with my wife. We will most certainly not be coming back. First off, our server needs to invest in some form of a personality. Secondly, the food was average at best. I will say the Sticky Biscuits were really good but that's about it. Menu is about as blan as it gets. Wine list is awful.

The pork medallions were very salty and the flavor was not desirable. They were very tender and the potatoes were very good. My friends had the shrimp and one said it ok and the other friend did not care for it at all. It was disappointing based on the previous reviews.

The Asbury is a welcome step forward for a hotel / high end dining. The traditional and classy location, white cloth dining meet the new southern food experience, with emphasis on locally or regionally sourced and inspired ingredients. Asbury is not pushing the limits - no lichen puree here - but does a great job at finding the right balance between the tradition and the new cuisine.

They always have creative options to try, the use of good quality farm to fork ingredients, getting to know the chef's and the farmers in a relaxed and family style setting. So much fun and great food!

We found the food to be quite fresh during our dinner and the flavors were quite full and memorable. We dined with two other friends who enjoyed the meal just as much as we did/ We would definitely recommend the beet salad as a small plate and any of the seafood small plates, too. Plus on Friday nights, they have half-priced wine flights...quite the deal!
