Contemporary Southern
With its warm service and artistic food presentation, The Asbury at The Dunhill Hotel puts a sophisticated spin on the local food movement and traditional Southern dishes. The Asbury is a tribute to Charlotte’s southern roots and the culturally diverse community of the New South. There is a strong tie to heirloom ingredients native to the area and specialty items grown by small, family farms throughout the local region.

Located on the corner of N. Tryon & 6th Streets at the heart of Uptown Charlotte’s cultural district, it’s only fitting that the restaurant features regional art curated in collaboration with Sozo Gallery.

Open seven days a week and serving the longest weekend brunch in Charlotte.

If you come for brunch -- definitely get the banana pudding pancakes and order the side of potato cake (with jalapeno -- not spicy -- and goat feta. I will most CERTAINLY come back!

Very small plates for pretty high prices. Service was mediocre. No complaints but certainly no compliments either. Food was good, not great, but good. Very average as a whole. We would’ve been much happier at the Melting Pot or a Longhorn for more food and less money. If you’re using this place for an expensive date night, choose better or go a somewhere more “normal” and save a buck. We frequently try new places for date night and for us this was a one stop shop.

Quiet place for brunch. Menu is a little limited but the food was still amazing. The jalapeño potato cake was my favorite!

At first I thought maybe it was closed because no one else was in the restaurant, but they were and we had our pick of seats. The service was quick and friendly, and the food was tasty and beautifully plated. I would definitely come again.

Great farm to table menu. Teenage son loved the brisket and egg sandwich. Mac and cheese was one of the best. Bartender also made excellent rum runner on the fly. Desserts are creative and satisfying.

To be fair, it can’t truly provide a review because I ended up not eating here but I needed to provide scores to get to this point.
The menu and photos on this site and theirs are not up to date in the least. The menu reads inventive, seasonal, and contemporary southern but that is not what is happening right now, not at all. The menu has been rendered down to nothing like most hotel restaurants. The disparity between the actual restaurant and its internet “face” is so dramatic, I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if I had gone into the bizarro-land Asbury rather than the one where I booked a reservation.

The food was good and service was okay. My coffee had an odd off note which I brought to the waitress's attention. I returned my still full cup which she took away and said nothing further about it. Im unsure is it was reported to the manager on duty but not one person addressed it with me. Aside from that issue, the remainder of the meal was enjoyable; although, that biscuit is enough for two.

The service was nice, out server was sweet but nothing special. It was our first time there so we didn’t know what to expect but upon entering we realized that it was attached to the hotel. It was completely empty which at first was really nice but as we begin to get further in the evening it was almost too quiet? The decor and seating were very outdated in our opinions and definitely scream “ Hotel restaurant“. Our food though fairly priced, wasn’t exciting and the deviled eggs were nothing like either of us expected so that was a little disappointing. I had the burger which wasn’t anything special and my partner had the pork which she thought was pretty tough. The wine that was recommended by our server was pretty good and again we didn’t receive poor service but overall it was not a very exciting dining experience.

Great dinner spot in Uptown attached to the Dunhill Hotel. The restaurant was very quiet and quaint. We got a couple glasses of wine (great pour) and the chicken sandwich and the brisket and egg sandwich with fries and mac and cheese. Both were excellent choices. We'll definitely be back again!

Went to the Asbury for brunch. Started with the sticky buns, they were really dry and we really didn’t enjoy them. Wouldn’t recommend. For entrees we ordered the chicken biscuit and Mac and cheese, which were overall ok. Nothing to rave about. We ordered mimosas and there were basically orange juice.

We attempted to go for brunch. It was super quiet, the AC didn’t seem to be working, and the chair cushions were damaged. We immediately wanted to leave but ordered drinks and a round of the biscuits, which were dry and not good. Definitely needs an update inside.

I appreciate that they are covid-19 ready!! I enjoyed every bit of my meal that salmon salad was out-of-this-world! I had the brisket breakfast sandwich as well and I was not disappointed! The brisket was smoked to perfection! I can't wait to come back to check out more on their menu!

Went on a Sunday night so super quiet. Food was good, not top 10 in Charlotte though if that's what you are expecting. I did notice a huge tear in one of the long benches, we weren't even sitting there but that kind of thing annoys me in this high of a price range. I would definitely recommend the warm kale salad. It's very different, takes a few bites to "get", but it's delicious.

Cozy but not crowded. The cuisine is a fine dining take on southern food. My deviled egg appetizer was excellent (this evening, the Chef's whim made them with pickled pear and smoked trout roe. ) The veal osso buco was also delicious, particularly the bleu cheese grits made an excellent accompaniment to the tender veal.

Went for brunch with my in-laws. Service was slow but lovely overall. We ordered two additional mimosas we never received but also weren’t charged for. The food was all very good, smaller portions. My shrimp and grits were a little sweet and I prefer savory/spicy. Overall good.

The food was well prepared - although the pierogies had been deep fried I think - but overall tasty and well-seasoned.

The front of house? Not so much. One waiter and an occasionally appearing drink deliverer along with a none-too-happy manager. Harried wait staff does not make a great experience. Missed drink menus, slow check service, odd food timing...

Then it became Gordon Ramsey’s nightmare with a shouting match in the kitchen clearly audible to the diners. After exchanging a few surprised looks with other tables, we refused dessert, paid the bill and left. I don’t think there’s any need to return.

Great pre dinner meal at the Asbury. My mom had the kale salad and lamb stew and couldn’t stop talking about how good it was! I got the fried chicken sandwich but the bottom bun was soggy and fell apart so that was disappointing. Loved the chocolate mousse trio and the presentation! Great service. Will certainly come back.

Valentines Day dinner, there was a special menu which honestly wasn’t appealing We went for their dinner menu which was non existent My wife hated the food and I thought it was so-so. Many with reservations looked at the menu and left. That probably would have been the best choice for us. Service was excellent

I made reservations at the Asbury on Valentines Day. Also booked a room at the Dunhill Hotel. It was a ten year anniversary celebration for my wife and i. I made the dinner reservations in early January. A fixed Valentines Day menu was on the website however i did not see where the regular menu was not available. It should have been clearly stated. We would have never gone there. The night we went to dinner we were told only the Valentines Day menu was available at 75 dollars a person. It included several small plates in which two were shell fish. My wife has a shell fish allergy and could not eat those dishes. She was given a small salad on a small saucer. The next dish was a venison carpacio that was overpowered by raw onion. We werent fans of the raw meat either. The main course was a heart of ribeye. The steaks and dessert were the only positive on a negative experience. The menu was too aggresive to be fixed and 75 dollars a person. Several other couples walked in and left after being advised that they had no choice on what to order. We were very exited with the regular menu options and left disappointed. We dont get to have nights out like that very often and knew no other restaurants were available at that time on Valentines Day.
