The Arsenal at Bluejacket Ratings and Reviews
We arrived 20 minutes early for our 5pm reservation and checked in with the host. As expected, we were asked to return at 5pm for our reservation. When we returned at 5pm, the hosts asked us to give them 10 more minutes and that we should check back with them at 5:10 because they were "not quite ready". We ended up finding an open table at the bar and took that instead. Having a 5pm reservation and not being seated was frustrating. I would have had more patience if there were others already at the tables and their service was taking longer than expected, but 5pm was the first seating and the dining room was empty.
Excellent experience. Food was terrific (OMG the sauce with the mussels and sausage was out of this world as was the mumbo sauce on the wings), and always fun to be at Bluejacket. Server was great too. My only constructive feedback would be that the hostesses seemed to be having trouble seating customers right after the ball game, even though the dining hall was practically empty when we arrived. One would think that they would have the after-the-game rush down to a science?!?
We opted for seating in the bar instead of the restaurant. I had 3 basic complaints: 1) I sent back a beer but it was still on the bill. When I mentioned it to the waiter he said he was worried about that..hmmm, then why not check the bill before giving it to me? 2) Only one waiter in bar area so service was slow 3) I asked for extra ketchup and didn't get any. So this basically bumped down my review. The burger and fries were good but not great and they're priced on the high side for DC.
Nice Friday evening end of work week dinner. Two dishes were very impressive: broiled oyster appetizer and soft shell crab sandwich. Oysters had an awesome bacon cheese and veggie topping. The soft shell crab was very well prepared, although I think it was a frozen one, slightly mushy. But I'm used to buying my soft shells live from watermen and cleaning and cooking them myself. Nevertheless, the crab was expertly prepped and cooked - well done! Overall, an excellent night out at Bluejacket.
This is a brewery that happens to serve food. The food is ok, not stellar. If you are looking for a place that serves decent beer and food that is ok, this is the place. My server was nice and attentive but that's the only memorable thing about the place. I live in the 'burbs and it's not worth the drive.
Had lunch with a former colleague. I ordered the mambo chicken sandwich with fries and iced tea; he ordered the grilled cheese with chips and iced tea. My meal was A+ and my colleagues plate was clean so I'm assuming he enjoyed his meal as well. The male server had a great sense of humor as my colleague was joking with him about the menu. It was a great lunch. Will return!
The piergoris were creamy and accompanied well with the onion straws and mushrooms. We would go back for the cask ales and trippel. The scallop dish needs more than three scallops. Overall, the place was fun and vibrant, and still packed even without a Nats game happening.
My husband and I wanted to try this place, again. We went there right after it opened, it wasn't a super great experience then either.
We were seated at a table for two, on the wall, right near the door. So when it would open and close the wall next to us would shake. We were also seated with one seat in total sun. No shades for the window, but, I thought it would be okay since it wasn't super hot out.
We ordered a burger and a salad with chicken on it. The burger came out and it was good. The pickle was given to my plate as my husband doesn't like them. I didn't have any chicken in my salad at all. Since it's an extra fee and I spoke to the server about it for a few minutes, I was very surprised. I looked for the server as the food runner had already left. Like the food was dropped at the table and they just left. The server was nowhere to be found. I ended up going to the hostess station and speaking with the hostess about the mistake and she immediately came over and took my plate even before I could sit back down.
Then a very large party was seated right next to us. We couldn't even hear ourselves speak to each other. Which was okay, since my husband was eating his meal and I was waiting, waiting, waiting for mine. I guess they made the entire salad over again, added the chicken and brought it back out. No apology with the delivery of the new salad. Nothing.
After eating, we looked for our server for the check. She brought that over pretty quickly. They had taken my salad completely off and only charged us for the burger. We didn't order any drinks at all.
Even with that gesture, I still am not going to eat at this establishment again. This was their second chance. I wasn't impressed with the water server going around, he would just reach over for our glasses even if we were talking or eating. Never said a word to us. The bathroom is not well lit at the sinks. Neither one of us will be back again.
If you enjoy craft beer, look no further! Bluejacket has an extensive list of beers brewed in house, and they're all awesome. IPA fans, Lost Weekend is a must try. Awesome restaurant with lots of character. Bar is great for watching sports and catching up with friends. Food is pretty good too--including their Big Train burger and Falafel burger. If you're in the Navy Yard neighborhood, or just looking for a good pint, Bluejacket is a must.
Service was a little bit uneven and resulted in extended wait times between seating, order placement and serving. But when he came by, the server was attentive and they recognized their service challenges. In fact the GM came over, apologized for the issued, and then comped a dessert and round of drinks by way of apology.
Went for brunch on Sunday because had been for drinks and loved the ambiance. Our brunch was very dull, the waitress definitely didn't want to be there, and there were flies everywhere. Never going to eat there again - which is super disappointing since I enjoy their beer.
We had a great time here. Atmosphere is so much fun and so much fun tasting all the beers. Servers know the beers and are super helpful. Food is good but if you want to have fun with friends and try some great local beers this is your place. Definitely recommend it.
Came here because my sister really wanted to try it. It was just okay. We had the pickles, which were mostly pretty good- the bread and butter left something to be desired, but the blackberries were delicious. The pierogies were pretty good-the fried leeks on top- delicious- but the rest of the food, my cheese plate and dessert left were just eh. Our waitress seemed irritated when I had questions about foods and beers, not to mention she could have used a little more knowledge about the menu and the ingredients, and she was inattentive often leaving my water glass empty for extended periods of time. The price of the meal was just not worth the quality of the food. However, the location is cute, so next time I'll try something else in the area...
Lots of action and great beers at bluejacket brewery. Tasty food using local ingredients with a good wine list as well. The tasting room was crowded, our waitress got us beer to take home. Lots of groups and music several nights a week. Close to the ballpark and lively. Great eatery, terrific beers.
This was my second time at Bluejacket and I brought some close friends who had not been yet. They were just as impressed with the beer choices and food offerings as I had been. I really love the style of the establishment and I will make this a must stop at destination any time I'm in town.
My husband and I had a 2:15 reservation on Monday, July 3rd. We arrived at 2 and the hostess said that the server was over-seated and new, we would need to wait. We said no worries since we were early and went to the bar to grab a drink. About 5 minutes later the bartender never made eye contact and the server came back to say that they would not be able to be seated. They were understaffed and the kitchen stops serving lunch at 2:30 but we were welcome to sit in the bar and get service there. The bar was packed and one server was running around to cover well over 20 parties. We sat at one of the communal tables and the hostess did send the server over immediately and we ordered our drinks. It took easily 20 minutes to get the drinks as the bartender that never made eye contact was the only bartender and was also pouring bar table drinks in addition to the bar patrons. The people at the other end of our communal table had ordered drinks that never came so they just got up and left. Their drinks appeared 10 minutes later. We did order some food that came out in a decent amount of time and was acceptable (wings and potato skins, although most of the cheese ended up crusted to the plate and not on the skins. To get another drink seemed almost impossible so we paid and left. Not once did the manager come to us and apologize. We come to the waterfront a lot before Nat's games and wanted to give this place a try. The people sitting next to us said the service is always bad but their beer is good. We will probably never return.
Went before a Nats game & met a business colleague. Food was not as good as the reviews led me to believe, but the beer & even wine selection were good. Service OK. Atmosphere lively. I may return to give it a 2nd try & give the food menu and service a second chance. May be better on a non-game night.
While I've liked the burgers in the past, the mumbo chicken sandwich was pretty unspectacular. It was kind of trying to be Korean bbq chicken, and kind of southern fried chicken, and kind of ended up in a confused middle.
That's the only time my meal hasn't been really good, however.
