The cinnamon rolls are amazing! Great food.
Really nice space but very loud, not good for quiet conversation but great for a first date or before a Nats game. Quinn did a great job describing the different tastes for the beer. Pirogues could have had more in them and a bit chewy but the muscles were great. We had the wine and garlic and had them add the sausage too, very nice.
The service is great. The food is very good with excellent vegetarian options.
The food was so good. Will go back again. The people there was wonderful.
We had a party of 4 to celebrate my gf's birthday. This place gets packed so definitely make a reservation. Since I booked the day before, the only time open was 9:30pm, I booked anyway. We showed up at 7pm and the hostess was kind enough to accommodate us knowing that there were other parties that got shifted so I very much appreciated that!!!!!!!! We went early thinking we could just hangout at the bar. 2nd kudos was to the bartender that allowed us to switch the channel to watch UFC. Our waiter was great, but he was swamped and our service was slow, but since this place was popping and food did come out pretty quick and delicious, it didn't bother us that we waited a little longer for drinks and in some cases, had to remind our waiter a couple times for our drinks! We orders for apps: 1/2 dz of each grilled oysters/ raw oysters = DELISH!!! Hushpuppies were good, but nothing to write home about. Mussles with the tomatoes base broth and bacon = DELISH and would probably order them again when we go back. Main courses were: the pan seared branzino (no bones!!!! thank you!) which was delish and had so much flavor! We also ordered the grilled kielbasa and the falafel burger. Both good, BUT we will not order those again. We ordered all of that food and shared all of the dishes amongst us 4. Drinks: 6 beers and 3 dirty martinis with Tito's vodka. The beers, were good but disappointed that the martinis were super small and at $13 each, I didn't even get a buzz after 3!!! Dessert: we got 4 scoops of the coconut flavor and the passion fruit flavor sorbet: both flavors were so good. We also ordered the brownie cake which was rick and good. Our total bill for all of that was $250 with tip. Overall great place to hangout and super kudos for the UFC channel change!
This is such a great spot. The decor, the food and of course, the beer, were all great. We had a big party that got bigger and the hostesses were nice enough to accommodate our rowdy group. The beer menu was great and the food was great the price. Casual but a great Saturday night vibe with a group of friends.
Only reason they got one star was because we were seating right away, after that it was all down hill. Waited 10 minutes for someone to take our order only for someone other than our waiter to take it who didn't introduce himself til later. After ordering we waited for our for food and beer to only receive our food before the beer we ordered. Food was ok but not worth the price. Not once did I get a water refill while everyone around us did. After finishing our food we just wanted to leave but even that was to much for our lack of a server. After finally getting a hold of him to get check we waited 15 more minutes and just ended up asking someone else to get it for us which was done right then. This place falls well below anywhere we visited on this trip including McDonald's by far. If you like poor service, mediocre food and loud places this is the place for you.
We had a great experience at Blue Jacket for brunch on Easter Sunday. However, we were quite disappointed that they did not let us order off the regular menu during the brunch hour. There were no decent "starter" options that weren't overly breakfast foods. They were also out of rose and did not have a suitable substitute. The food was good, but I would have liked a few more options that weren't strictly breakfast. They also did not have many brunch type cocktails, such as a mimosa or bloody mary listed on the menu so there was no way of knowing the cost before ordering. Overall, a good experience, but it is not my favorite for the price.
excellent selection of beers being brewed here; food is easy-going and unpretentious. Great industrial digs - very active bar. We were sitting upstairs and had plenty of space.
The table wasn’t ready when we arrived and the management went out of their way to be accommodating, treating us to a free drink and an appetizer. As always we had a great meal and enjoyed the beer! We’ll be back again soon.
We went for our 40th anniversary with our son and daughter-in-law.
We had a reservation on a busy Saturday evening and were seated promptly.
The waitress was bubbly, knowledgeable, and friendly.
I had the Waldorf salad and it was delicious. My husband had the special entitled “Pile of Pork.” It was incredible! The waitress kindly included a dessert for us to share, since it was a special occasion. We would absolutely eat there again when visiting DC.
We enjoyed our visit. For brunch we thought a few more food options would have been nice, and the server be a little more attentive, not to say he didn’t do a good job because he did. It did seem like he had a lot of tables—maybe you were understaffed that day.
Tonight was a little strange. We were headed over there for dinner, so I made a reservation on OpenTable with the soonest time being an hour from when we got there. When we arrived, half of the main room was empty, so they sat us immediately (awesome!) at the end of the end of the long communal table telling us that all the other single-party tables were reserved (fine by us!). What’s strange is that after the other party at the other end of the farm table left, soon after we got there, the table remained otherwise empty and many of the single-party tables remained empty as well. Even though there wasn’t a full room, it took a long time for a waiter to take our order and then another long period for the drinks and appetizers to arrive. Bluejacket is usually pretty good about getting people served, in my experience, so I guess it was just an off night. The food and beer were excellent as usual!
Well-decorated, bright space for brunch! Great food and beer to go with it. Attentive service. We really enjoyed our time here.
Service was excellent. Went for lunch on Saturday with boyfriend. He ordered a rib combo special dish and I ordered pierogies. We also ordered a trout dip appetizer and a slew of sampler beers. Excellent service and food all around. We were in the quieter section towards the front of the restaurant but the main bar area could be loud for some people's liking.
Great food and exceptional beer and service. A choice in very good cask beers is a special treat.
We had reservations for 3 and were sat at a middle table with ZERO lighting other than the candle on the table. We requested another seat where we could see the menu but were DENIED even though several were available & remained available for an hour after we were seated. We had to use the flashlights on our menu to order & reference several times. The burger & chicken sandwiches were less than flavorful. Waitress had a hard time seeing the menu as well for our questions. Super loud for a 7:30 meal & less than quality food experience. We don’t plan to return.
Took my father here for the first time and we both thoroughly enjoyed it. The food was good, the drinks were great, and its just a very cool spot.
Would highly recommend for folks who want to try something new and reliable.
Would love to give a shout out to our server and the manager who ensured we had a memorable trip! We will be back!
Excellent food and drinks! My favorite place in my neighborhood!
Made reservations to Arsenal at Bluejacket Brewery for brunch and it did not disappoint, as usual. Since they make fantastic beer, I started off with a Turning Road IPA and it was delicious. Arsenal's brunch menu is formidable: burgers, chicken sandwiches, omelets...you want to get one of everything. I went with the One-Eyed Susan: toast with a baked egg in the middle, surrounded by Andouille sausage and finished with Green Goddess dressing. Fabulous!
Bluejacket is a three-story microbrewery located in Navy Yard, which is the heart of the Capitol Riverfront Neighborhood of Washington, DC. The restaurant occupies the old boilermaker building, which used to manufacture boilers for navy ships, munitions, and other products. The name of the restaurant comes from a navy team for an enlisted person. The restaurant gave off an industrial vibe. Our server Daniel M. made our dining experience a memorable one. He remembered everyone's orders and got them right. He made sure that we were fed and hydrated. He gave us our checks in a timely manner.
We ordered two beers (i.e., Nowhere Lullaby and Naked Eye) and two handhelds (i.e., Grilled Cheese and Pulled Pork Sandwich. The Grilled Cheese consisted of swiss cheese and smoked tomato jam in between parker house loaf. It was served with pickle and crispy housemade chips. Unlike the traditional grilled cheese, the flavors weren't overpowering. The Pulled Pork Sandwich consisted of cumin rubbed pork, pickled jalapeno, crunchy cabbage, and lime aioli in between toasted hamburger bun. It was also served with with pickle and crispy housemade chips. After our errand, we returned for more beers (i.e., Here We Roam and Pattern Skies).
I’ve always enjoyed the bar seating at Bluejacket. It’s a lively and fun place to hang with friends. The beer and bites are great.
This was the first time I requested regular seating. As always, the food and drinks were great. However, the service wasn’t what I would expect from an establishment like this. For me, service is paramount.
The waiter was terrific! Unfortunately, she was working 5+ tables and people were beginning to get mad. Hire more staff!
This is a place for millenials and people who love to yell their conversation. Service was uneven. For example, one dessert for our party of four wasn’t brought out. Took 15 minutes to flag down our server to make sure it wasn’t on bill. A nicer restaurant would have bagged it up to go for free.
Awesome food and great wait staff! Noise level was super loud though and made it hard to have a conversation. Otherwise, overall a good experience.
Great spot and would highly recommend to anyone. Great lighting and ambiance.
Great meal and service
The brunch was very good. But nothing was special besides the cinnamon rolls, which are a must if you go for brunch. Unfortunately, the service was terrible. We didn’t get water or coffee until our food came, and our waiter often forgot about us.
Service not great- ordered Bullet Bourbon which the waiter recommended, came back and said they were out of that brand- order wine for dinner, waiter came back and said they were out of that also. Stick to beer and a burger at this place
Brunch was great! Awesome server who made fantastic beer suggestions as well.
Amazing staff, we had a great time
I've gone to Blue Jacket before for the beer, but the food blew me away! The double cut pork chop was fantastic and I loved my brownie sundae.
I had a 1:15 reservation and wasn't seated until 1:50. And then service was jusy really slow.
My friend and I ordered the restaurant week lunch. The waitress brought our check before she brought our desserts. We waited thirty minutes to try to flag the waitress so we could get our desserts but she ignored us and we had to give up. The food was good but we were disappointed we didn't get the full meal we paid for.
It’s a better brewery than reatuarant. Good was not bad. Just mediocre. Nice ambiance, though
I convinced two of my colleagues to make the walk down to Bluejacket for a Restaurant Week lunch. We arrived at 12:30 and were immediately seated, and were able to place our orders about 10 minutes later. Unfortunately, two fairly big issues ensued from there. First, my colleague who is allergic to walnuts (and said so to our server) was served a salad with walnuts. It was sent back and a corrected order was brought out 5 minutes later. Then, there was a 30-40 minute gap after we finished our appetizers during which we neither were visited by our waiter nor received word of our entrees, even as all the tables around us (which were seated and ordered after we were) received their food, ate, paid, and left. We finally got our entrees around 1:40 - so much for a quick lunch. We ended up spending an hour and a half at the restaurant, even though once the entrees came we ate as quickly as possible and immediately closed out our bill. Overall, the food was good, but I don't think we'll ever try to visit for a weekday lunch again. I especially felt bad for making a recommendation that took so long, as my colleagues and I had to work late to make up for lost time.
Host was absent for at least 10 minutes. Bartenders and servers short staffed. Many tables visibly unhappy with service. And this bad service is fairly common. Best service is sitting at the bar. Beer and food was fantastic. It definitely needs to focus and up it’s service.
The food was great & the drinks fantastic. However, it was very loud, could barely hear myself think & having a conversation was difficult. Our waitress was not great. We wanted to order a second round BUT we’re so afraid our waitress might get lost, or just not bring them, that we opted out. Asked for napkins, never got them. Took longer then it probably should have to even get our first round. I didn’t even wait for the check, just gave her my card and said run it. I figured it would take her forever and a day to get the check, come back to get it with my card and bring it back. Will definitely go back but it won’t be when I have somewhere to be afterward. I am assuming the service was bad because it was so busy so I want to give it another go but, as someone who was a waitress for 5 years, that’s when the service should be top notch.
Food was great but it was super loud and service was extremely slow
The staff was perfectly attentive and everyone’s meals were delicious! Great selection of beer! Got the falafel sandwich and it was yummy!
