The Arsenal at Bluejacket
maryland crab, cheddar cheese, honey mustard
cabot cheddar, smoked tomato jam, parkerhouse loaf, chips
andouille sausage, tomato broth, herbs
Great beer! Love the design of the whole place. Service was good.
They always offer new beer selections. Try the new Shrimp and grits‼️
This was our first time at Bluejacket and we three loved it. Great place to have Sunday brunch en route to the Anacostia Playhouse-short Uber ride. The structure being an old munitions plant was amazing including the brewery, tasting room, upstairs seating.... We shall return. Our server Briyan V was excellent-attentive and efficient.
The food was delicious. The ambiance was really cool. And all the beers were exceptional. I am not a fan of hoppy beers. All their sours were delicious.
Great. Really cool place! The area around the brewery was nice, lively Enjoyed or very much
A really nice place for a group. Not too noisy and a very kool atmosphere. Food good not great but you are there for the beer
First, the Scallops were absolutely the best I have ever had...anywhere!! One in my party ordered the Shrimp and Grits and we suggested to the waiter that they also do a Scallop and Grits dinner as we got creative with our meal :) Our waiter, Byron was great!! He knew the beers and the menu and made excellent suggestions!! The atmosphere was energetic and fun and we had an absolutely all-around great dining experience. And let me not forget, you must have the fried pickles and the potato skins. I've eaten at most of the restaurants at Navy Yard and I had another favorite up until dining here, but The Arsenal by far is where it's at!! And absolutely yes...I will be back!!!
We had a great meal experience top to bottom. Friendly staff and delicious food.
Service was a little slow, but they were busy so I did not think too much of it. Great food and great beer. I highly recommend the tater tots!
Fun time with friends for a brunch.
If you like beer, you need to go to Bluejacket. But you might want to just go to the bar to drink beer, because The Arsenal -- and in particular, the service -- leaves a lot to be desired.
When I arrived, I stood at the Maitre'd stand for about 5 minutes before I was even acknowledged by a waiter, who said that the hostess had her own system so he didn't want to help or risk her wrath. Then he returned a few minutes later and seated me anyway.
It was at least another 5 minutes at the table before I was able to order a beer. The evening continued like this, as a melange of different waiters and servers helped and ignored us in turn. My single grilled kielbasa was overcooked and overpriced at $16.
But the beer was great. Bluejacket for beer? Yes! Bluejacket for dinner? Not so much.
Good burgers and fantastic beer. Ideal for casual dining with a unique menu
Excellent food and service!
Service was abysmal. After being seated we waited roughly 15 minutes and had to ask someone to take our drink order, which was then lost. Service continued at this lackluster pace for the entire two hour experience-asking for water refills, never being asked if we wanted another round of drinks, etc.
The food was tasty and server was attentive. The price was reasonable for the quantity of food.
The service and food was really good. One criticism would be that the harvest salad had too much going on— too many good flavors all together. The side cauliflower was awesome but hard to eat bc the cauliflower was a tad undercooked. The tots are amazing.
The hostess and server were incredibly friendly and welcoming. We had a reservation and were seated promptly. Our drinks were tasty and well made. I liked the variety of offerings. We shared the everything pretzel as an app and really enjoyed it. (Can’t go wrong with a soft pretzel but the “everything” flavor and mustard dip were nice adds). Everyone thought their dinner was very tasty. The only downside, I shared the “beef short ribs for the table” for $45 with my husband and bc it can be a very fatty fish, it wasn’t enough food (even though we also ordered the Cobb salad with chicken to share). So despite the tastiness of the ribs, I should’ve known it was a risky move and wouldn’t recommend it to others (unless they come down on the price to align with other entree’s). I would definitely go back.
My family of 4 just spent over 2 hours at Arsenal at Bluejacket waiting for our mediocre meals to be served! Thank goodness my children are older and able to wait for the painfully slow dinner to be delivered to our table, but this meal was ridiculous in the amount of time it took for everything to be served...and we didn’t even get everything we ordered! We will not return. Too many other options in the area with better food and faster kitchens.
The food was fair but the dining area was way too dark....which was very unexpected for a decidely unromantic brewpub. :)
Have always walked past this place in the warmer months and it seemed extremely popular and busy, so when we saw there were reservations opened when trying to find a place for brunch one random Sunday afternoon, we decided to give it a go. The Bloody Mary was delicious as was the seasonal holiday draft. Our server Noel was pleasant and down to Earth, he interacted with us very well and was very knowledgeable of the menu and drafts, making an excellent suggestion for us when the kitchen was out of what we wanted due to arriving on the tail-end of brunch. Highly recommended and will definitely return for dinner.
I love the food and beer at Bluejacket! We were seated near the bar which was VERY dark. It would have been nice if the lights were up a little bit, especially for my mom who had to use her phone flash light to read the menu. It was also a little bit loud, but that’s to be expected from that type of restaurant. The food is pricey, but the beer is a great value for the quality.
Everything about this experience was bad. We will not go back. Seated at a table that rocked severely. Ignored by waitress. Once waitress showed up we placed both food and drink order together. Drinks took over 30 minutes to arrive. Food arrived too close to drinks being delivered. Ignored again until we had to flag someone down for the check. Poorly executed service experience from start to finish. Then had the “pleasure” of waking up sick in the middle of the night.
If I was going here for just the beer, sure... probably a better experience at the bar. We had a reservation at 6PM on a Sunday evening. The restaurant wasn't very busy as there wasn't even a wait time for seats, but considering the service experience, they may have been understaffed? There was a large party sat after us, but it mostly consisted of smaller children.
Atmosphere: Cool. The brewery pieces and steel accents really made for a fun space. Big windows as well. It seems like a good happy hour location.
Service: Our server wasn't very attentive. Drink orders weren't taken for about 10 minutes after we sat down, which was the 1st time we saw our her. They didn't arrive for another 15 minutes. We ordered appetizers, but no plates were given to us ahead of time or even with the arrival of the food. We had to wait to find someone to ask for the plates. Appetizers did come out pretty quickly, faster than we got our drinks.
Food: menu seems to try and make regular bar food, fancier, but not successfully. The potato skins seemed like they would taste good, but didn't. You get pub cheese, green tomatoes, red peppers, like 6 black beans (across 4 halved skins), and sour cream on top. It didn't taste very good, just didn't work. There was no description of the chicken sandwich Mambo Sauce vs. Frankenbutter - like which was hot? To me Mambo seemed like it would hot... it wasn't. Forget getting clarification from the server. It was also very small for the $17 price tag. The 2 burger options just had too much "stuff" and didn't sound appetizing. Someone at our table got one and it was too messy to pick up and eat. The tots and fried pickles were good, not greasy. The salads were small portions and once you add on the protein, you get a side salad for the price of 2 large dinner salads elsewhere. Didn't even attempt trying the "plates" which were ridiculously priced.
Beer: Great selection and seemed pretty tasty.
I wish it were better!
Food was great, when the servers actually showed up. They gave us the wrong sized table for the reservation, though they did eventually fix that. Then they took 20 min to take a drink order. By the time someone showed up for us to finally order food, it turned out they weren't serving the lunch menu anymore (because they had taken so long to come take our order) and there was no apology that some of our choices were magically unavailable when 20 min before they would have been. Anyway, despite the food and beer being good, the service was so appalling we won't be returning.
Venue is wheelchair accessible which is GREAT! The night we were there the noise level was manageable but could see that it might get too loud to hear your table companions. Staff where friendly, food was good and service was quick.
Good drink and food selection with a cool atmosphere. Service was a little slow and our appetizer was cold. On the pricey side.
We have been coming to Bluejacket for years and this is unfortunately our second bad experience. The hostess chastised us repeatedly for bringing a child that required a high chair without letting the restaurant know, despite many tables seated who also had high chairs (and the restaurant wasn't crowded). After 5 minutes of her tirade we were seated where we then waited 15 minutes for service. Not sure what's going on, but really disappointed. If the restaurant is going to insist on knowing the ages of each patron, then there should be a way to differentiate children from adults in open table. Until then, a little kindness would be most welcome.
Food was delicious! Definitely made up for our poor service. I reserved a spot for my girlfriends 24th birthday and was very excited to take her. When we arrived the hostess didn’t even look at us, and then our waiter, Sophia, barely spoke to us either. She had an attitude the entire night and it made us feel uncomfortable. As two visibly queer people, it’s hard for my girlfriend and I to sit down at any nice restaurant and feel accepted— but considering this was her birthday dinner, it stung a bit more. Anyway, the food and ambiance was everything we wanted, but I would not recommend this place to anyone considering how unwelcomed we felt.
Friendly waiter, comfortable seating, GREAT tater tots. The volume was a bit loud for myself, but I was still able to hear my friends.
Our hostess Michelle did a great job getting our two parties seated together and she was a lot of fun to talk to. Excellent selection of beers from their brewery with an option for smaller pours (4 oz I think) to try things. Good variety of food options on the menu. Everyone enjoyed their meals, I don’t think it was just the beer talking :). Would definitely recommend Blue Jacket to anyone and plan on visiting again next to me in the DC area.
Had the nicest and kindest waiter - and the place was beautiful! Great food too.
Limited brunch menu on Saturdays, but everything was delicious! Great service and great beer! We shared the breakfast tots to start. Probably the best tots I’ve had and with a runny egg on top! Then had the bacon egg and cheese on a hoagie roll. Yum!!
Incredible menu for folks who are Gluten free!
I've always loved the brewery, but this was my first sit-down dinner at Bluejacket. A super busy night with the World Series just blocks away and service was still great. Would recommend!
First time visit. Menu was great. Something for everyone with a little twist. The 86 beer was wonderful!
I had a reservation for 2. We arrived approximately 15 minutes early, but there was a line out the door. We told the bouncer that we had a reservation, but he told us that the restaurant was refusing to honor reservations. We overheard one of the servers saying that the restaurant had intentionally overbooked, over the concerns of its manager, in order to pack as many people in as possible during the World Series. As a result, the restaurant was well over the number of people it was allowed to serve and the fire department came by and told them they had to stop letting people in. I was already in a great place to watch the World Series, but we left to honor our reservation at Bluejacket. Someone could have at least called...but no.
This was a completely avoidable situation manufactured by greedy restaurant owners that ruined the World Series not only for me, but (judging by the huge crowd of people that couldn't get in for their reservations) for many others, as well. I am disgusted by this behavior and will never count on Bluejacket again.
Great lunch. Waitress Chelsea was awesome. Would go back
Fantastic drinks and a phenomenal staff through and through. The wings are fantastic!! I'll definitely be back.
Love this place. Food is always great - not fancy but very good and satisfying. The beers are amazing. Great atmosphere and a great place to watch some football and enjoy a late Sunday brunch.
Giant pretzel appetizer was great, and the Burgers and Curry Salad were amazing. However, the veggies and hummus were quite bad. Most of the vegetables were radishes, none of the vegetables were peeled and the whole plate ended up tasting really bitter. Overall the only downside - they should modify or remove that from the menu. Also the ambiance was very dark and due to the open room the restaurant is very loud.
