The Arsenal at Bluejacket
Great service, delicious food, flexible for our changing group size. Great experience
The AC was out and it was almost unbearable.
Great locally sourced food, hand crafted beers and strong mixed drinks! Great dining experience!
The food and service was great, it was just super hot where we were sitting.
Great time, great food, great experience — tried a pilot of beer and it was amazing; totally recommend.
Great beer, good food, fast service. My favorite pre-game eatery.
We love the beers here and the apps and meals are perfect compliments to a fantastic beer selection. We will keep coming back!
Really liked the food but service was pretty slow and server was not the best. But overall really cool place and will definitely go back!
Hosted was rude and not accommodating even though they have the capability to be. Additionally, it was uncomfortably hot. However, the waitress was a gem.
Beer was great. Food was high quality, but small on portion size for the cost. Service was very good despite having a busy lunch crowd.
Fantastic food, beer and service! Can’t go wrong with any of Greg’s beer, and the staff is hands down the best in D.C.
That block needs to separate the fire alarm system. The fire alarm kept going off during the entire meal, making it extremely hard to visit or enjoy the meal. I know it's not all Bluejacket's fault, but they need to get that changed.
Always a fantastic meal and time when visiting.
It was shocking to go to a restaurant in 100 degree F heat, and that the restaurant had no signs up, nor had contacted reservation holders to let us know the A/C was out.
The service was non existent. We had to ask for drink refills several times, the food was super slow-delivered to the table more than 45 minutes after we ordered it, the bill wasnt delivered or picked up in a timely fashion. I would have walked out (which Ive never done before in my life) but the hostess tried to fill in and it was a business meal so I didn't want the drama. Also, it was 100 degrees outside and felt like 90 inside. I suspect the AC wasnt working.
This is a great place to get a brew and the food is usually really good. We sat outside because inside can be quite loud and we had some older folks with us who needed to hear. We usually love the patio, and I'm pretty lax on service because we all have our off days, but this was pretty bad. We didn't get cutlery or plates until well into our appetizers, plates had food crusted to them, we didn't get enough water cups for the group on a very hot DC night, and then water was never filled so we ended up going back to the water station to do it ourselves after about a hour, and then we seemed like we were bothering the fellow. We waited quite a while for the bill. Overall, we'll be back if we have out of towners who want to eat somewhere near the water that's not exorbitantly priced, but I think the service being bad on the patio for the 3rd time in a row is likely a turnoff otherwise.
We enjoyed our experience and would go again. Service and food were commendable, however, be prepared for small portions at a quasi-expensive price.
Jordan is a great server and the food was delicious
Delicious good, great service, amazing value
Food and service was amazing. We split the fried pickles, hot peppers, and cheese board. Salad was ok and the main entrees were phenomenal with the grilled cheese and fried chicken sandwich. Little loud for just a 2 person date but I think that’s the atmosphere they are looking for. Would highly recommend and will be back but, instead, with a group of people
Rude maitre d, table not ready at reservation time.. Arrived, and told to sit in bar until table was ready.. Enquired 25 mins after reservation time as to table, and we were told 'oh you should have come to me to get your table', even though the staff member clearly told us she'd come find us and seat us in '10-15 mins' once the overdue table was ready.
The air conditioner was broken and will be for another 5 weeks according to our server so it was so hot! But the food and drinks were amazing!
The air conditioning was out on a very very hot and steamy day.
Gary was awesome!!!
The beer flights were decent. The food was not. Definitely didn't come here for the food, but was expecting a brewery in a city to have a better chef. Oysters and specifically the horseradish sauce was barely passable, the Falafel burger was so flaky and dry and should have had a better sauce with flavor, and the pierogi was terrible. If you love pierogis don't eat these.
Good time just very hot inside
Fantastic food and beer. Open and bright space. Great location.
There was a loud, repetitive clanging sound coming from upstairs throughout lunch. Good food, but hard to enjoy given the noise.
Because it was after a Nats game, it was definitely very loud and crowded, so I'm glad we made a reservation. We got there before our actual reservation time and they still were able to seat us right away. The beer was great. Got to try a very unique one. The food was also great. Our server had lots of suggestions and recommendations. I didn't mind the noise, but definitely don't go here if you're looking for a quieter place. Although, I'd imagine it's probably a little quieter on other days when the Nats game didn't just finish.
The night we visited the dining room was a little loud with spillover from the bar. The service started out great, became inattentive and then ramped up again when they wanted to push to turn our table, which was strange because the dining room was never full during the 2ish hours we were there, and another table that was only drinking and not eating adjacent to us was given great service and not pushed to leave despite being there well before us. I only mention the service because this was very obviously a date and the server seemed to be interrupting at obviously inopportune moments. The food was delicious, and the beer, as always, was top notch. The only thing I have to say detracting on the food is that sometimes things come out not at all how you expect based on the description and price. A $6 starter of olives could feed a table of 4, but a $10 side of cauliflower was barely enough to split between two people. Cheese plate was great, and the salads nicely portioned. The beer, as it should be, was the star of the evening.
Lunch menu is a bit limited. Portions are small compared to prices. My $14 Farmstead salad (no protein) should have been $7-8 based on size; it was tasty with good ingredients. Also, I asked waitperson how was the asparagus prepared that came on the salad. She said it isn't cooked in anything just in the salad. Well it was sauteed in some kind of oil and the greens were wilted from heat. That oil (soy? peanut?) proved to be a problem for me--lots of swelling and pain. My dining companions liked their sandwiches but immediately remarked about how small they were and that the rare roast beef sandwich had very little meat and a lot of bun. The dining room is one big open space with great views of street-life. This was a good meeting spot to catch up with an old friend--located near the Capitol Riverfront. We walked the area before and after lunch.
Abysmal service. 20 minutes before anyone came by and not even an apology
Food quality is good. Beers were great but everything was slightly overpriced for what it actually was. Would definitely return but not as a regular date spot.
Food and beer amazing as always. Not a bad drink on the menu
Experience was great. Bar tender Allen was perfect and knows how to take care of customers We will be back for sure. Food was so good. Everything was a positive!
Great place to go to if you like craft beer. They tend to specialize in IPAs but have a good selection of other beer-styles as well. The food is also very good with some inexpensive selections.
Overall great place! The food and beer is good just a little expensive, but what do you expect in DC
I enjoyed a dish of muscles in a l lemon white wine sauce. They were very good. I sat at the bar and enjoyed company with the bartenders and customers. Had a nice night out.
Reserved a table for 6 people at 7 pm on Thursday (right after Washington Nationals baseball game). Had to wait another 15 mins, they weren’t prepared for our reservation. Also, server was slow. But overall, we enjoyed the food and beers.
It’s unfortunate to see Blue Jacket in the death throes of becoming just another beer and food joint reminiscent of the Brig near barracks row.
I have been coming to Blue Jacket regularly since its opening and I’m truly disappointed to see a reliable “go to” restaurant at the Navy Yard become a distant choice when deciding to go for a meal.
On a recent Monday night with a friend, we sat at a booth in the bar area. I always appreciated the industrial ambiance of the place, but not it has a distinctive run down and unclean look. And, while the service was good, the food too has declined in quality. This is fairly easy to discern since the menu items have not really changed since Blue Jacket opened. My friend ordered the tater tots as an appetizer and had to send them back because they had been way over deep-fried. Our meals consisted of a shared arugula salad and separate orders of mussels and a hamburger. But, it took almost an hour for the main meal (including the salad) to arrive at the table.
With the growing numbers of new and better places at the Navy Yard to go for a drink and/or meal, my opinion is that Blue Jacket is falling to the back of the pack.
Sad requiem for a once cool and fun place to go for good food and atmosphere.
