Our for, wine and drinks were excellent. Entrees, scallops, jambalaya and fish and chips were delicious. Walking distance to Orpheum, Symphony Hall and Herberger. We come here often when we are in the city
Service was very good, food tasted good but not memorable. The restaurant ambiance was very good but the price versus amount and taste of food was not worth it
This was my favorite go-to restaurant every time I visited Phoenix. This time, four of us went and ordered three different entrees. The scallops were good, the trout portion was tasty but so small our friend left hungry, and my jambalaya was not jambalaya--it was some kind of rice dish with shrimp, sausage and chicken mixed in. It was quite bland--not what you want when ordering a spicy Louisiana dish. Very disappointing, especially for $220.
The theme of this place doesn't make sense to me. I assumed "butcher" meant a nicer establishment- however the decor and set up is more like a dennys. No linen, paper fold-up menus, and fast food restaurant booths. It was packed though, so they must be doing something right. Food was fine, didn't blow my mind. Prob would look for something else; but my taste more focused on unique food and ambiance experiences. This felt like a sports bar without TVs everywhere.
Honestly I’m really disappointed. I heard so many good things about this place and the food was so bland and not worth the hefty price. 4 of us had lunch. 4 different menu items. 4 equal results. The food sucked. It’s called the Arrogant Butcher. I was expecting more steak choices but there were only two. I’m sorry but I won’t recommend this place. We ordered the crab stuffed chicken. Fish tacos. Prime rib French dip and BBQ half chicken. All disappointing. Bill came out to $130 with no drinks ordered. So not worth it. Our server was excellent but he can’t control the quality of the food being served.
Excellent service - bar was a bit slow but our waiter stayed on top of it! Food was excellent!
A high energy restaurant at a super busy corner of downtown. My meal was crab stuffed chicken, it was delicious, but a small ala carte portion. Service was super friendly and timely. Noise level really high, so pick your seat carefully.
Excellent food and superb server (Josh) with good pacing. Hot plates (a pet peeve of mine), pretzel bread with cheese yummy. Paella very, very good. Music too loud so conversation quite difficult. Prime rib excellent.
Nice spacious booth for the four of us. Would be perfect if music not over amped.
The fun do was outstanding and the prime rib was melt in your mouth delicious!
This was excellent. A fun atmosphere and great food selection. The charcuterie was particularly good! Highly recommend.
the steak was very tasty.
We usually have a great experience here... not this time... the service was great, but the food was just poor... the soup was served in a 3/4 empty bowl, the portion was just ridiculously small (much smaller then what should have been served)... and the filet mignon was so tiny I first thought of it as an off-cut from a real steak, and at $38 I expect more... the meatloaf was great, but the “side” of mashed potatoes were runny and were gone after 3 spoons full...
Arrogant Butcher: you should be ashamed of what happened to us last night!
Terrible service. Nikki was the worst waitress I have ever had took over an hour for appetizers
The restaurant is very close to Talking Stick Arena and VERY CONVENIENT, but we were sort of disappointed from the high reviews it got as this was not our experience.
Good and popular place. For dinnere better to book in advance. Great steaks but somerimes they run out of meat so you do not have a steak.
Food was OK, but overall a great experience. Noise level was high but this is a busy place and sitting in the outdoor patio was expecting the noise, so didn’t bother us at all. Service was good. Overall a fun place to hang out over a meal.
Horrible service. We we there on Sunday around 345 and they ran out of the cheese fondue. Menu was not the ones online. Very slow service, even to get our drinks. One of the orders came out wrong.
THE FOOD AND SERVICE WAS GREAT..WITH ONE EXCEPTION..THE HOSTESS DID A VERY BAD JOB OF CHECKING PEOPLE IN..WE HAD A RESERVATION AND SHE INSISTED WE WAIT IN A 30 MINUTE LINE OUT THE DOOR TO CHECK IN..WE HAD VERY LITTLE TIME AS WE HAD A SHOW TO GO TO (I TOLD HER THAT) ..SO WE ENDED UP SITTING AT THE BAR TO HAVE DINNER ON OUR OWN..I ASK HER TO CHECK US IN SO I RECEIVED MY OPENTABLE POINTS AND WAS NOT A NO SHOW..SHE SAID SHE COULDN'T??
Menu is limited when there are special events in downtown Phoenix. No sandwiches or burgers are available so if you have hungry kids beware. We had such high hopes for this meal but it was an incredible disappointment. If the food had been good it would have been fine but our local BJs Brewery serves better food. Such a bummer.
Always a little noisy but food was good
We like to go here when we're seeing events at Talking Stick Arena - it's close & usually good! They reduce their menu selections for events nights to "make it easy on the kitchen" so that was a little disappointing. Server was terrific & very attentive!
The music was, again, too loud. They should sit customers dependent on how much of the loud bar scene they do or do not want. For us, it interfered with normal conversation. We shared the shrimp appetizer - it was excellent. My wife had the filet with creamed spinach and crispy potatoes. I had the same meal on a previous occasion with the only negative being the not quite right potato wedges. For my wife, that segment of the meal was modified to be both a small baked potato along with bite sized sweet potato pieces. It could have been perfect if the sweet potatoes weren't slightly underdone. I had the prime rib snd creamed potatoes. The potatoes were very good but the beef was too rare (it was supposed to be medium rare) with too much gristle, and the seasoning had not penetrated the outer edges. Strangely, there was no horseradish sauce nor an accompanying vegetable. I won't bother ordering that again as multiple other restaurants serve a superior prime rib. For dessert we had the warm, whipped peanut butter with a dollop of chocolate gellotto. It was fantastic but the two peanut butter cookies that came with it were uninspired - one small bite and the rest went to waste. Bottom line - the service was very good but the atmosphere could have been better and the food was just almost great.
We were looking for a restaurant near the Arena for dinner before the Cirque show. The service was excellent and the food was very good and served hot unlike other places we have been to. We are great fans of the Fox restaurants and this was not a disappointment. You lived up to the others we always enjoy. We intend to return whenever we are in the area!
Disappointing- from rude hostess to overwhelmed wait staff and mediocre food. I did not enjoy the experience and cannot recommend this downtown restaurant. In fact, if my experience was indicative of their usual service, I recommend walking further down the road to one of the 5 other restaurants on the block.
Our party really enjoyed the Arrogant Butcher. We were there on a very busy night with
Cirque du Soleil being on that evening so the place was packed. However our server did an excellent job, was very cordial and helped make our evening wonderful. The scallops and salmon were cooked to perfection. Another had the jambalaya and thoroughly enjoyed it but was just a bit spicier than he expected. The only negative was the crab stuffed chicken breast.
This one was definitely lacking. We eat a lot of dungeness crab and have had the same dish
in several other restaurants but they were far tastier than this dish. Our drinks and wine were
We had a great time.thank you .food was wonderful all four of us.
Food was really good. I was very satisfied with our meal.
We had made reservations and the staff was prompt getting us seated. Initially the noise was deafening- we were unable to hear the waitress. After they turned down the music and the crowd thinned out the noise level dropped. It’s not quiet nor designed to be.
Food was excellent overall. We had the salmon and scallops at our table along with “meatball soup”- what I know as wedding soup. The entrees and soup were delicious. Dessert was tasty but would have liked the chocolate sundae cake to have more of a liquid center.
But overall great restaurant I’d be sure to come back too.
Typical middle of the road Fox restaurant. Just ok when you are downtown for an event. Besides convenience factor not much really great about it. Staff was very nice.
Great service and food, highly recommend. Reservations recommended.
Said was excellent atmosphere is cool service personalities left a little to be desired although prompt
Food was great!
A great place to go to before heading to the theatre or game. Staff are aware that you have to be out by a certain time. Good food and service.
Great place for burgers! Very noisy and hard to hear the party speak that you’re with. Fast service. The appetizers were a little light!
We enjoyed the meatloaf. A good winter meal. Place was noisy but I expected that. Great and efficient wait staff.
The food was very good and we liked the diverse menu options. The deviled eggs were only mediocre, but the carnitas nachos were superb! I was not happy that I could only get a small draft beer. The waitress said no one could get a 20 oz because all the glasses were taken downstairs? Whatever that means.
Prime rib was excellent. Salmon appetizer also
Has to go back a second time while staying area because it was so delicious. Cool atmosphere.
We had enough time before our flight home so we decided to look for a restaurant close to but not in the Phoenix Airport. Based on the reviews, we decided to try this gastropub and it had the right variety of foods to choose from.
