The Arrogant Butcher Ratings and Reviews
Brought a friend visiting from LA and overall bad experience. They wouldn’t sit us (with attitude) when we arrived 15 min earlier than our reservation but tons of booths available. Dumb move - we could have ordered drinks and not try to get to the bar for that. Food sub-par. Cheese selection looked good on paper but not good when it arrived. Food was not good despite so many great reviews and being a Fox restaurant. Have had many business lunches there - it’s fine for that. Frankly after this experience I won’t be going back period. Too many other great options to settle for just ok and value simply not there.
First of all let me start by saying the restaurant was full but that should not be an excuse for lousy service. The Charcuterie plate we ordered as an appetizer was the best part of the evening. Cocktails were delivered about half way through the appetizer. Entrees showed up just after the cocktails, so the wine we were going to order with dinner never happened. My prime rib was barely room temperature but I didnt want to send it back for fear it wouldn't get back before my wife finished her entree. Really felt like the server was just trying to turn the table. We were there to celebrate both of our birthdays and the poor service lost the restaurant the sale of a bottle of wine and dessert.
We were very disappointed in the quality of the food (hamburgers and fish tacos). The hamburgers did not come properly prepared as requested and it took quite some time to get all the stuff to the table. Two of us had had lunch there before but I wouldn’t recommend it any longer
Apparently the hostess did not tell our waitress we were here as noted in my reservation request that we were celebrating our 37th anniversary. As a result no one mentioned anything and the normal treat was omitted. We did enjoy our waitress and felt awkward bringing it to her attention.
Had dinner here for NYE & it was packed; luckily we made reservations via OPEN TABLE. We waited maybe 5-10 min max before being seated. The hostess and staff were super friendly. Great ambiance. Loved the décor! We started off with a few oysters, which were DELISH- some of the best oysters I have had yet. Very fresh. My wife ordered the CRAB STUFFED CHICKEN, which was very good. She was under the impression it was going to be a whole or baked half chicken stuffed vs. a split boneless chicken breast stuffed with crab. Either way, I thought it tasted wonderful. I ordered the GRILLED SALMON and I was in heaven. Literally, the best salmon I have had to date anywhere around. YUM. I would definitely order it again without question.
The portions were small in size, but still managed to fill you up. (However, if you are a tad on the super hungry side, I would recommend ordering an appetizer or 2 to compensate).
I liked the selection of beers, however the Modelo I ordered was a bit warm; nonetheless, I still finished it and ordered another.
I will come back to Arrogant Butcher again. I like the fact that everything is "homemade" . The food was delicious and the atmosphere and mood was inviting.
For New Years Eve my mother n law wanted something different. The menu for Arrogant Butcher looked delicious. When we got our reserved table we were given a very small menu. Maybe it was just a holiday menu, I’m not sure since I’ve never been. There was not anything appropriate for my 2 kids. Luckily our server let us order what they both wanted, what wasn’t mentioned on the menu at all. I enjoyed our experience and so did my kids. The cost, I think was a little more... than expected.
This restaurant has an identity crisis. I did not experience anything “butcher” or “arrogant” about this restaurant. The waiter descrIbed it as a “meat and potatoes” place but most of the food on the menu was seafood or salads. There were a few sandwiches and one burger. Also, not that it’s a problem for the restaurant goer, but there was so much extra waitstaff- people were just congregating around the hostess stand or the kitchen. Only positive was our waiter was nice. Would not go back.
First time at The Arrogant Butcher - a Fox Concept Restaurant. While I was pleased with the food and the items on Happy Hour menu, again, inconsistent with seating for Happy Hour. We were ushered into the bar area (tables) since I wanted an item (ONE item) from the Happy Hour menu. The rest of our dinner came from the actual menu. Perhaps consider - regular table seating if you are ordering the majority of your dinner from the menu. With kids, the bar area is a bit congested and when the rest of the restaurant has tables available, this does not seem to make much sense. We almost opted out of ordering our 1 item from the Happy Hour menu just to sit in the restaurant (but it happened to be something one of the kids wanted.) Just a suggestion from a regular customer.
3 prime rib orders amongst our 5 diners, and all of them came to the table cold. All sent back, and came back well done. Also, ordered two chicken noodle soups. One an appetizer, full of noodles to the top of the bowl. One later, an entree, mostly broth. Been there 4 times; first two times were great, last two times very disappointing. Won’t be going back.
THe food was really good and the server was friendly. My issue was I went there for my 25th wedding annervesary and through OpenTable made note that we were going for our anniversary. When the restaurant called to confirm the reservation, they mentioned the anniversary and I confirmed. When we got the restaurant, they had us in and out quickly and never mentioned the occasion. That was disappointing.
My husband and I have enjoyed several fine restaurants in the area and I was planning a special occasion as I was taking my Mother-in-law to the Theatre. We made reservations and were seated promptly. I found the menu a little lacking, but when I found crab stuffed chicken with spinach and a delicate sauce, both my Mother-in-law placed our order. What we received was 2 small fried pieces of breaded chicken and a piece of very dry crab cake in between. It was by the worst thing I have been served in many years and apparently my guest felt the same as she left it on her plate. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Please don’t think we are elderly or people who can not be pleased. We are very social and have enjoyed just about every other restaurant in the area.
We were in town for an interview and my husband and I were staying around the corner. First of all it was the best and most creative charcuterie board. Delicious and generous portions. My husband got the stew with an egg and cornbread and was stuffed. I had a salad and it was plenty after the board. Alec, the manager, came by and talked to us and after finding out I was interviewing In Phoenix he bought our dessert which was a blueberry cheesecake - delicious also! Fantastic service and delicious food; we will be back!
Reservation was for 5:30--I arrived 10 minutes early, but they wouldn't seat me even though the restaurant clearly had room. Then had to remind them to actually seat my party. The menu is somewhat overpriced. $18.00 for Fish and Chips that normally sell for $5-$6 less. Also the chips (fries) were soggy and not at all warm.
The salmon salad was cooked to perfection. Wish the king crab had been served whole and hot. To cut it in half dries it out too much. Lovely place to eat. Compliments to the chef on my light blackened seasoning on a perfect medium rare salmon. So on pointe! Thank you!
