The service was rush, before I had finished my lunch, the waitress asked if we were ready for the check.
The worse is the food portion, my wife portion was of a child size but we paid an adult price .
We will not come back and will make sure others know.
The food was great, service was good, manager was awful. When we got there, our table wasn't ready. Said we did not answer phone to confirm reservations that day. We were at the WWII Museum all day. I spoke to a different manager the day before to increase the number of people in our party and was not informed that we needed to contact the restaurant the day of the reservation or it would not be honored. It only took a few minutes to set up tables for party of 15 because the restaurant was empty at 5:00pm. But he insisted that he could not set up tables for our party because we did not confirm. I would have complied with any such request but no one told me I should . We eat out often and are told in advance that we will need to confirm the day of the reservation. I suggest they inform people of this requirement in the future, especially if they talk to the person making the reservation the day before. He insisted I was wrong and the mix up was all mind. Such a rude manager. Everything else was great, thank goodness, since I was entertaining out of towners and we don't need bad representatives ruining our wonderful city.
The food was pretty bad. The spinach artichoke dip was flavorless and the Jasmine rice might've been regular rice also not favorable. When I pay for food I expect it to taste better than what I can do in the kitchen. I'm no Besh but sheesh... A cool atmosphere tho.. maybe I expected too much... I mean it was a Monday evening.
Food was fine, server Alfred was great!! But beware where they seat you, they call out names when tables are ready, and they do,it very loudly!! Uncomfortably loud. If you have to sit at a table near the hostess stand, guests waiting for tables linger over you and can almost sit with you they are so close ! The best part of the meal was our server, he was on the ball!
This was our second visit to the restaurant. We were visiting the National WW II Museum for 2 days and ate here both days. The experience last year was much better. The temperature seemed to be near freezing and we had to go outside to warm up. It doesn't seem to make much difference if you make a reservation or not. Everyone who wanted to eat there seemed to get seats. The service was a bit slow and the servers seemed to lack training. It took a long time to get refills on hot water for our tea. It also seemed to take a long time to get the check. Overall, you don't have much choice while you're visiting the museum but this could be a much better experience for patrons and workers alike. I would suggest that they bring or change their restaurant management company.
My sisters and I dined at the American Sector after visiting the WWII museum. It was to celebrate our father's memory and one sister's birthday. The food was okay, the service was great, especially when the staff sang happy birthday. I would recommend this restaurant to someone who visited the museum.
We had a wonderful experience here. The waiter was very good, attentive in a crowded restaurant, and the food was delicious and little different, but very American.
The cool thing was at the end , this waiter presented a bill that was separated for each person, telling what we each had and the cost, all on the same check. Never saw that before. He received a big tip.
The chicken fried steak was above par, better than I've had in quite a while. The mashed potatoes and green beans were exceptional, really good. However, my hard-to-please wife said her pasta dish wasn't that good, but she did like my mashed potatoes and green beans. Service was attentive. All in all, a surprisingly nice experience.
Was disappointed in quantity and quality of food. Oyster po-boy had 4 oysters which didn't come close to covering the bread and shrimp po-boy the same. Flavor was good, but nothing above what you can get at any local restaurant. Shrimp & Grits was better, sufficient quantity for the money and good quality, but I've had Besh's Shrimp & Grits elsewhere and it was much better. My friend enjoyed her Cuban sandwich, but I can't recommend the Oyster & Artichoke Fritter - oysters were very good, but fritter just didn't cut it. Overall, I couldn't recommend especially with so many good restaurants in the area.
This was our second lunch at the American Sector and it was again amazing! My husband has been talking about the Black Drum over grilled vegetables since December and enjoyed it even more this time! The gumbo was excellent--ate a bowl, then ordered a cup for my daughter. Tried the spinach and artichoke grilled cheese and it was wonderful! Grandson got his usual chicken with fries and enjoyed both. We'll be back for more in the fall.
I have many food allergies. I called ahead to the american sector restaurant and they told me that they could accomodate me. They lived up to their word, and delivered to me a delicious fish, cooked my way without salt or spices, on a bed of freshly cooked vegetables. The service was impeccable. I appreciated very much being able to eat out. Thank you
Certainly if you are at the museum, this restaurant is convenient. However, there are restaurants in the area that serve better fare if you care to walk a block or two. The menu is not inspiring and the service is spotty - both from the kitchen and the bar. Biggest problem with American Sector is the museum has various events going on during the lunch and dinner hours and the kitchen may be involved in preparing food for numerous and simultaneous events. Impacts service and quality. The museum's Soda Shop is a better value.
Our server, Ariane, was very good. However, though we had a reservation, we had to wait about ten minutes to be seated, and waited for a while for someone to take our drink and appetizer orders. It was very busy that day. We enjoyed our meals, though it was noisier than expected in the dining room by the museum entrance.
We were going to be in the museum that day anyway and it made sense to go ahead and eat there, the place was started by John Besh, right? The food was very good and our server was very present. We enjoyed our nicely situated table and the atmosphere of the whole place. I would recommend this eatery if you were visiting the museum or just walking in off the street. A great place with fresh ingredients and an interesting take on expected menu items.
We were really excited to try this place and after the appetizer, thought it was going to be great. (Crawfish fitters were delicious). But, it was all downhill from there. Country fried steak was like shoe leather, Kraft does better mac & cheese, Brisket was full of fat and cornbread was hard as a rock. No need to ever go back.
