Very nice experience, wait staff
Very polite and attentive. Food delicious and attractive. Good value for your money.
The food was really good, the service was perfect, you must go to this museum it is awesome.
Service was not good. We waited 90 minutes for our food. We were a party of 6, 2 adults and 4 kids and we were charged a high gratuity. Server never came around. Why should she? She gets an automatic tip. Also it was very expensive.
Great time and shrimp and grits.
Good food and service, great setting. What you would expect with one of the nation's premier museums.
Need to tone down the pepper and sauces. Louisiana food should be spicy hot...not just pepper heat. Grilled redfish (an awesome fish) had ton of sauce as did the shrimp Po-Boy, neither described like that in the menu.
I would for drinks and snacks but some of the food is a little over priced for what your getting.
The American Sector was, first of all, very convenient if you’re visiting the museum. Honestly, I did not expect the food to be as good as it was. The selections were adequate and had something for most taste buds. Sunday brunch has bottomless mimosas. The wait staff were very friendly. There was not a long wait to receive your food. My party arrived a little early for lunch and there was not a crowd, but reservations are recommended because the place filled up very quickly around noon and there seemed to be a wait as we were leaving. All in all, a great place to eat when you visit the museum.
Food and service was excellent! Everyone enjoyed it. Will was great!
It has great food and very attentive service when it was not very busy It’s a great place to have a few drinks and high quality food in the CBD close to the arts district
The server was excellent. I ordered a cheeseburger which was over cooked and dry. The French fries were good, however. I have heard from locals that the food at the American sector is not good and they were right.
First time visiting NOLA and the museum. Excellent food and service and highly recommend this restaurant. It was nice to have a visit from the manager to come to speak with us
Haven't been for a few years and I remember the food being much better. Not sure what happened, but at a table of 7 literally no one was impressed by the food. That said, nothing was BAD. Service was good, environment was fine.
What happened to John Besh? The restaurant is not the same without him. It has gone from excellent to fair. What a disappointment.
Wow- This is not just a museum cafe for a quick burger! They have a comprehensive menu with everything from gumbo and salads to wings/ burgers/ nachos to fine meals with hanger steak and shrimp and grits. My neighbor had debris (roast beef) over fries that looked yummy but I had grilled redfish with sautéed squash, zucchini and spinach with a huge, succulent piece of fish for $20. Nice ambiance, large bar area for dining too, and table service. Unfortunately service at the bar was terrible. This was 3:00pm, not busy, plenty of wait staff. Two ladies next to me left after waiting an unacceptably long time to get water and then still waiting for their order to be taken. My beverage was empty a long time and I finally had to ask for a refill. Too bad to put a damper on the delicious food from the kitchen.
If dining at prime lunch hours or weekends, use Open Table and make a reservation. Yum!!!
It was a fantastic experience! We will definitely return!
We ate here after a day at the World War II Museum. It was convenient and not crowded. It looks like they do a pretty good business at lunch, but the museum closes at 5 and dinner is pretty quiet. They have happy hour specials from 4-6:30. We ordered a couple of small bites, but someone came out a bit later and told us they were unable to do one of them. We ordered main dishes—oyster po boy (good-sized and tasty) and shrimp/grits (first order was not hot so sent back...second order arrived as hubby was finishing his po boy, and was ok but not great). Had a side salad which was small and a little wilted but ok, and a couple of glasses of happy-hour wine which were decent and inexpensive. Overall it was acceptable, and would probably be a good choice for a family that wants something convenient after visiting the museum. Service was so-so.
I had a great experience
Knew menu very well
Don’t think it’s as good as when it was a Besh restaurant. Menu listings are better but Food was ok at best. Waitress was very nice and tried hard but seemed overwhelmed. Wonderful location that’s hard to beat when you’re at the museum for hours!
Was very good and fast so that we could continue our visit to the WWII museum
Great food & service was efficient. Will be back for sure.
Thanks for a great experience and good food. Our tour groups enjoyed our day at the World War II Museum and were glad to get a great meal on site.
Everything was wonderful!
Who in their right mind closes at 6:30 on a Saturday in downtown NOLA?!? When I reserved a table and sat down, the hostess was like "are you really coming here to eat?" I was dumbfounded. As I waited for my friends to show up, there were some corporate looking people hanging out in the dining area and staring my direction, obviously thinking "what the heck is ths guy doing, doesn't he know it's closing time soon?" I did not feel welcomed and was very uncomfortable.
Excellent! Food was good, ambiance was good. Very enjoyable!
Great lunch options for a museum visit
We made reservations for the Sunday Brunch several days in advance. We arrived for our seating and as we reached our table, the hostess bluntly said "Oh, just so you know, we aren't serving brunch this morning" and immediately walked away - no explanation, no apology, nothing. We decided to stay and make the best of it. Our server, Jake, was very good and the food, although not the brunch fare we had hoped for, was fine. The ambience of the large, open room was a bit wanting, made more so near the end of our meal when some piped-in piano music began playing in competition with the 40's music already playing through different speakers elsewhere in the space. Either would have been fine, but both at once were quite annoying.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the American Sector during our visit to the National WWII Museum! I loved the subtle touches of WWII-influenced style like the music, propeller shaped fans, Tootsie Rolls with the check, cutely-named dishes, etc. The food itself was delicious, and the staff was very friendly and attentive. I would highly recommend a visit here!
Reservation made via Open Table only available at 10:30 and 10:45 AM and their kitchen opens at 11 AM. Luckily, the hostess took pitt and seated us to wait. Food was good.
Great food inside the museum. Five star hamburger was really good. Food was very fresh.
Highly recommend advance reservations so you don’t have to wait for a table
I'd recommend because of convenience if you are there. I have been 3 times over the past several years. This time was the most disappointing. We went at lunch time. The food at best was average.
Great place to eat. Enjoyed the good food. Very clean
Excellent food and service! The happy hour is one of the best in the city!
Food a disappointment.
Wonderful all around dining experience. The staff are phenomenal!
Great lunch during a fun day enjoying the museum. Good family and adult atmosphere.
The food was terrible. Poach eggs was hard, ran out of oysters, 5-star burger was super dry. Our brunch was 3.5hours long, yes, that long. Service was overall the worst, she did not care because she still slapped 20% on our tab. That was the easiest $65 she made. Terrible food, terrible service, terrible prices. Also, after going back and forth, service finally gave in and validated our parking. Which states online that parking was offered. If not, it would have been $12 parking for each car on top of our $408 bill. Gave this place a second chance, never again.
We were there to celebrate a birthday in our family. Food was delicious. Spicy bloody marys had a good kick. Would definitely go there again.
