Private Party Facilities:
The newly renovated American Hotel brings back the old world charm and ambiance of Freehold's long standing social centerpiece. Originally built in 1824 as a stagecoach stop, the hotel grew as did the needs of Monmouth County. But, after 180 years of making memories, the facilities were in need of a total make-over. New owner Steve Goldberg, stepped up to the plate by completing a full renovation, creating a New York style Boutique Hotel with restaurant and Banquet facilities which were described in the Asbury Park Press as a "masterpiece" and brought a new life and vibrancy to downtown Freehold.
Located in the heart of Freehold, N.J., Monmouth County's government seat, the American Hotel provides travelers and guests a charming stay in a vibrant community.
Our 20 hotel rooms, including deluxe and business suites provide all the modern conveniences and an attentive staff available for your personal needs. Our 3 Banquet Halls are ideal for your special Banquet or Party needs.

The American Hotel - Market Yard Grille Ratings and Reviews
We always enjoy the Market Yard Grille! Food is great. Drinks are great. The service at the bar and in the restaurant are great. We've been there on weeknights as well as this time (and last year) on New Years Eve and everything is consistently good. The specials and the regular menu items are equally delicious. Love the grilled Caesar salad. Steaks, fish, seafood -- everything's always great quality and well prepared. Highly recommend.
With an extensive menu, a meal at Market Yard Grille is worth the price. Everything my group ordered was prepared as requested, exceedingly tasty and the portions were generous. One of my dining companions said it was one of the best meals she had eaten in a long time. I agree.
Wonderful experience, excellent service, suburb food. In addition to being our go to for when we are in the mood for upscale dining, we have a tradition for Christmas Eve. We both enjoy seafood of all kinds and the raw seafood appetizer is wonderful! Our waiter was very patient and prompt. The entire staff was helpful. Our entrees were excellent and the dessert was sublime. Highly recommended for special occasions and any time!
All of the food coming out of the kitchen is always perfectly prepared.
First time I had an issue with anything. The Key Lime Pie was 90% whipped cream. Disappointed.
Otherwise, appetizers, salads, steaks are all perfection.
The people working the grill are masters.
We had to wait a little until our waitress realized we were there. But then everything went well. His lobster bisque soup was hot and good. My pork chop was very good. He had clams and linguine sauce. The sauce could have used a little more favor, and tomatoes. Overall we'd go back.
I've been to this restaurant a few times and the food was great. This time I did not enjoy my selection. I had the Mahi-mahi tacos for appetizer, it tasted very fishy. For entrée I had the sea bass with shrimp grits, the fish was great but I did not enjoy the grits or the vegetable. It tasted very bland.
The food was excellent. I had items from the Oktoberfest menu, which was delicious. My hubby had the rack of lamb which he thoroughly enjoyed. We also shared a shrimp cocktail...wonderful. We shared a hot apple pie ala mode for dessert. We enjoyed everything. The service was very good and the atmosphere very nice. Looking forward to returning.
Great restaurant, great food, very nice atmosphere, outstanding service. We have been going there for a while now. This place is a real jewel. The food is always fresh, certain items on the menu change from week to week, but it's always delicious. The staff is professional and friendly. I absolutely love this place!
This place runs hot and cold. Sometimes its great and other times just OK. Weak link is the service. Water may come quickly but waiter takes a while. Or waiter drops off the menus, reads the specials and says I'll be back in a minute and it takes 10-15. Sometimes bread comes with the water and sometimes the appetizers come first. Still its better than most of the other Main st. places. If weather is nice try to be seated outside. Avoid inside on Friday nights after 8: 30. They set up a band and its really loud and becomes a club.
We here for the first time this weekend and everyone enjoyed their meals. Grilled Ceasar salad was delicious as was the Filet Mignon. Wife had the stuffed flounder which she enjoyed very much. Good Kid's menu and wine list. Very pleasant dining experience. I will be back.
