About The American Hotel - Market Yard Grille
The Market Yard Grille, an American Bistro Style Restaurant and Bar, located in the American Hotel. Open 7 days for lunch and dinner until 11:00 pm, late night Tapas menu till 12:00 midnight and fabulous Sunday Brunch. Facing Main Street, the old world charm of the restaurant is reminiscent of a New York style steak house. Guests can enjoy a cocktail in the restaurant"s bar or while sitting with friends in front of the fireplace at the Lobby Lounge.
The contemporary menu offers a tantalizing variety featuring steaks, seafood and bistro-style dishes. Favorites include the Market Yard Seafood Cocktail, the Tomahawk Rib Eye Steak, Mussels and Andouille Sausage, Steaks, Chops and Seafood, all with a delicious selection of sides.
The Tapas menu offers guests a smaller sampling of our chef's creative style. Favorites here are the famous Bento Box Sampler, Chopped Filet Tartar and Cajun Rubbed Ribs.

Americana Hotel is an excellent choice for great food, ambience and service. Nicole is a wonderful waitress! Butternut squash soup was flavorful, hearty and delicious.
Loved the seafood Fra Diavalo. Great selection. Next time will try a steak though there are many great choices
We have been to this restaurant several times however this time was the worst. Service was slow at first but our server apologized many times. Food came out very slow and my husbands steak was overcooked. Server did bring him a new one. Was a disappointing meal.
The hotel has gone through an extensive renovation and is fabulous. The dining room was beautiful and we had a great meal . The menu offered a huge selection from steaks to fish to many specials. Two of us had the scallops over risotto along with spinach and was by far the best scallops we have had in a long time. Our waitress Nicole was a delight and very attentive. I can't say enough good things about our dinner . Don't think you will be disappointed.
Good food. Like the fact that you are not so closely seated to other people; the tables are spaced that you can have a private conversation without people in your business. Really enjoyed the live music. Good menu- something for everyone. Liked the free valet parking. Beautiful inside. Will definitely go back. A gem.
I went to Market yard Grille with my fiance and his parents by recommendation of a friend and it was fantastic. The red sangria was delicious, the food was amazing (I had the stuffed flounder), and our server was very attentive. I would definitely come here again and recommend it to others.
Been here several times because downtown Freehold does not have many options other than Federici's - cash only, Metropolitan cafe, usually crowded and noisy. But the service here is always hit and miss. Took a while for someone to come over asked if we wanted water. When he came back we were surprised he had not brought bread. Got our order in and good for the waiter he asked if we wanted our appetizer and salad at the same time or separately . That was done correctly. Bottom line if you can put up with inconsistent service its a good place. I wish more managers realize the service is more important than the food
Normally Market Yard is always amazing. Something was a little off this time.
I didn't want the asparagus that came with the always amazing rack of lamb. I asked if I could have broccoli instead. Server said sure.
I ordered the lamb medium rare. It came medium. The kitchen is always amazing. Did the server get it wrong or take too long to get it to me or did the kitchen make a rare mistake?
The gravy with the lamb was wonderful.
The lamb while a little over cooked was high quality and tender.
Also ordered the key lime pie ($9). The slice was tiny and it was half whipped cream. Very little actual key lime pie. Very disappointed for $9.
Bill came and the $40 dollar rack of lamb was $43? Asked the server, why? They said it was $3 to switch the broccoli and the asparagus.
They didn't mention that originally. I feel they should have.
Usually a favorite restaurant. They had an off night on a not very busy Saturday night.
Birthday celebration. Quite pricey especially based on quality of food. Food wasn't bad, just wasn't as good as other comparatively priced restaurants. Don't mind spending this type of money if blown away by my meal. I however was not. Also felt children's meal portions were especially sparse at $8.00 per meal. For example, my son's hamburger was essentially one slider sized portion. Overall we enjoyed ourselves but not sure we'd ever return. Better restaurants in this price category. Hotel does though have a nice upscale ambiance. Also has band playing on Saturday nights.
Overall, it was a terrible experience. The service was very unprofessional and slow. The food came out cold and did not taste fresh. The waiter was extremely rude and condescending. I will not be going back anytime soon nor recommending this restaurant to others.
The food was well prepared, presented well, and the choices offered were excellent. The chef at the omelette station was great, as were the wait staff, Diane and Zane. The noise level was good, and only became challenging when the young children near my table decided to have a screaming contest. It was amusing for the first 5 minutes and then became intrusive.
This is my 3rd brunch here and, as always, I was very pleased with the overall dining experience.
Initially the service was a little slow, in fact, we did not have a server for nearly 10 minutes and families seated after us were being served their drinks so I needed to ask who was our server. That said, once this was corrected, the evening and meal was quite good and I would definitely recommend The American Hotel - Market Grill. They also have two bars, one is quite quaint and the other is more lively.
Our first time visiting this restaurant and would definitely recommend it. The food was prepared to our specific request. Some of the best Calamari that we have ever had. The stuffed flounder with crabmeat was delicious. A very extensive menu with something for every taste. Also the deserts were very creative., especially the cheese cake balls.
