   Unfortunately we had a thoroughly underwhelming experience here - we appreciate we were booked in near the end of what would have been a busy Mothers Day, but we ended up disappointed. When shown to our table it wasn't actually set - we ordered starters off the tapas menu and they arrived before any cutlery. The started themselves were ok, but the roasts we ordered for main were very below par - bland, watery vegetables, overcooked roast potatoes and a thimbleful of gravy. The additional side of pigs in blanket were good, the cauliflower cheese less so. By this point there were no staff members to be seen, so we didn't order more drinks and decided it was a better option to go home for dessert. The prices are on the higher side for pub food and we expected a lot better.

   Went for Mothers Day lunch. Excellent whole roast chicken for two with all the trimmings. Kids meals decent and wide selection of tapas. Great service especially considering how busy they were. Highly recommended.

   Food was fine, standard English pub grub. It was cold with no roaring fire to welcome us to this medieval house. Service was very good.

   Bit cold when we first got there as fire wasnt drawing properly. Only had the soup but other courses looked good and reasonable prices

   Very disappointing!!! Having dined here before several times the standard of the food has really deteriorated. We had a long wait for food - other tables were served before us that came in after us. In the past one was able to order extras like cauliflower cheese and pigs in blankets but this was no longer available. The vegetables that accompanied our meal were very school dinner like and cold. We were also aghast that my daughter-in-law, who had the vegetarian roast, was not allowed to have a yorkshire pudding with her meal and when we questioned the staff member we were informed that this was not possible in case there were not enough to accompany the traditional meat roasts. We would obviously have paid extra for this. We checked that the yorkshires were cooked in vegetable oil and I then asked for mine to be included on my daughter-in-law's plate. The experience with the main course made us decide not to bother with a dessert and leave. Lastly, we felt sorry for the staff member serving us. He looked awkward about the situation. It made us feel that you do not value your customers.

    Nice country pub with pleasant ambience. They have themed nights but best to order ahead as they can run out of specials very early!
