A friend and I, very last minute, made a reservation for the five-course offering at 2nd Floor. We were actually seated earlier than our time, which was great! Service was exceptional. Food was delightful.
No Ambiance, food is good but not great, layout and display of food is ok but not good, food portion for Thanksgiving small, I just didn't like this place at all, and the kicker to it all was the food prices were way higher than other places up the tollway that I've eaten on Thanksgiving before for less money. Was a complete disappointment doing go there.
Everything was great. I still dont know why there was a 25 dollar service fee included in price.
Was looking forward to a formal dining out out but found a bunch of hotel guests dressed in Cowboys jerseys instead. The layout of the serving area could have been better, given the size.
Carving station should stand on its own---not near side dishes.
No free mimosas? And including a sizable "service fee" (tip) should have been mentioned up front. A $30 tip to bus my own dishes at a buffet? C'mon.
In the end, decent food but not worth a revisit.
It was meh... Food was not worth the price. Nice whiskey selection though.
This was our second time here. The first time we had scotch flights and appetizers and it was great. We went back to try the food but were pretty disappointed. I had a flight of scotch which was fine and since my wife is pregnant she couldn't drink - unfortunately that was the best part of my meal. I had steak and frites and she had shrimp and grits. Both were fine but definitely not exceptional. The grits were bland and the shrimp a bit dry/overdone and I could have made a steak of the same quality at home. We had deviled eggs as an appetizer, also bland and smelled a bit weird. Server was nice enough. There were only 3 tables filled in the back room - one very loud and we could hear every word, the other barely spoke - made the ambiance a little weird.
We were seated promptly when we arrived. Parking was validated. Food was excellent. Wait staff very professional and the price was very reasonable. I'll be back to visit or maybe take friends out.
Food was good and the service was awesome. We had the pork belly and the cheese board, both were tasty. The whiskey offering was broad and impressive, with a myriad of brands and regions represented. Although I only had a Stella.
Would have been nice to know that mandatory gratuity was included for a party of 6. In addition, it was called a service charge vs. gratuity.
The 2nd Floor was love at first sight with Julie's and Ashley's welcoming beautiful smiles; the atmosphere was invitenly open, un-cluttered, clean, fresh-scented, fresh flowers on the tables with unusally comfortable seating. The food was love at first bite: Salmon Breakfast Tacos and Crab Cake Benedict. Our palates refreshed with lovely fresh sqeezed orange and grapefruit juices. Our entire experience at The 2nd Floor was unforgettably delectable!
They made our date night feel special. I plan to go back for the next date night!!
Brunch was good and the sangria was very good. I recommend the sweet potato biscuits, steak and eggs and the lobster omelet.
Very good food, nice atmosphere and great service, the place was pretty crowded but we didn't have to wait too long for the food to arrive and the service was attentive
First time I've ever had a lobster omelette and it was quite tasty. Brunch there made for a pleasant start to our day.
Mike was able to articulately describe anything on the menu. Great service.
We loved going to their former restaurant. So, we decided to try The 2nd Floor. They did not disappoint. I had arranged for something special ahead of time and they made it happen. Even though it is in the Westin Galleria it did not feel like a hotel restaurant.
Although I found the portion quite large, the experience my girlfriend and I received was phenomenal. I was very appreciative of the high quality service and will recommend. Thank you for making my girlfriends special day even better
The food is always very good here and the menu has interesting selections. I also enjoy coming here because it is never too noisy and very easy to have a conversation. The service is also good.
We went for a special event with a tasting menu, in the private area. We enjoyed it very much, although I'm not sure how representative our experience was compared to normal dining here. This event seemed comparable to our experiences with Scott's previous restaurant, Bijoux.
We attended a special event and there where a lot of issues. It started late there were long lapses between courses and when it was time to our check everyone disappeared. The food was stellar but who ever was in charge of the event needs to work on timing. We will wait for Scott's new restaurant to open and give it a try. I don't see us returning to the Second Floor.
The food was delicious and the service was great! Our server Mike was friendly and attentive. The whole staff was friendly and professional.
We went for a special occasion (Father's Day) and ordered the "Big Spender" Scotch tasting board from the tasting menu. Unfortunately they were out of the best one -- the Macallan 25 year. Which was the only reason we made the trip to the restaurant... It was substituted for something else, which was definitely not as good or comparable. The staff was pleasant, and we ordered a few other things and a different tasting menu in addition... But pretty disappointing experience for a $225 price tag. Also....its connected to the Galleria Mall which definitely does not contribute to a "high end" experience.
This is the first time at The Second Floor. The food was delicious and special. The service was very good. The server was very nice and helpful. They will change the menu very often , so they will always serve different dishes. The wine list was many selection but the dessert menu was few selection. On that day was my tin anniversary, they were so sweet. They gave us the champagne and dessert for free.
Love that the restaurant changes the menu quarterly - it really makes the experience more interesting and shows the depth of the culinary staff. Thanks for another great experience.
We had a reservation for four at 7:30 on a Saturday night. We were the only table until about 9:00. Outstanding food and obviously very good service. We asked about the lack of customers. According to the waitstaff, it is normally very busy during week since it is on the 2nd floor of the Westin. Saturday nights are quiet, but not as quiet as we had it that evening. We will still go back. If you need a place to have a dinner party where you want to hear conversations and great food, this is the place.
Impressive and enjoyable. The Server was always available, but never intrusive. Our food was impeccable, tasty and just the right amount! And because it was an important presentation business lunch, this was the perfect place to be heard, but not intrude on other diners at the same time. I will be bringing many more important clients here!
I took my "2nd Mom" there for Mother's Day. We had a little issue with the seating but we were warmly and with great care, accommodated. The food was fresh and delicious with some very interesting offerings, such as the French Toast /Bread Pudding and a great apple-smoked bacon. There was good selection of sushi and some savory offerings as well. They also gave Mother's Day gift bags which were a wonderful treat. It was a great experience for my guest and myself.
This is a typical hotel restaurant. The quality of the food was very good, but the menu was limited. What most impacted me we the 'modern' but sterile ambiance. It had very little character. I would not recommend this restaurant unless you were staying at the Westin Hotel.
Upon arriving at 8:30 on a Saturday night you would expect more than 2 tables occupied. > Big clue that something may be amiss. We had our choice of seating due to lack of patronage which was nice. The restaurant is nicely decorated with soothing lighting that made for a romantic dining experience. Since there were hardly any other customers the noise level was non-existant, another plus. Our server, Jenny, was extremely attenative without being overbearing, another big plus. We had the deviled eggs with lobster as an appetizer, beautifully decorated but bland tasting. Wife had the salmon and I had the pork medallions. We both tasted the others and though the presentation of both was nice neither had any additional flavors you would expect. Salmon tasted like salmon and pork tasted like pork (and a bit tough). I am not a cook but my attempt at cooking salmon and pork in the past equaled the flavor here. Drop your $100-$150 for 2 people elsewhere.
Very expensive for what you receive. The service was bad: the waitress was very good, but the only onein the restaurant the night we were there. Very slow.
First, please allow me to clarify a mistake I made in a previous review of this restaurant. During Happy Hour, the hamburger of the day is $5, not $3 as I originally posted. Still, it's an extraordinary value and well worth a trip to the restaurant. Look for other great values on the Happy Hour menu, printed daily.
This visit was the perfect combination of a great entree (grilled tuna, cooked very rare as I requested accompanied by a delicious selection of vegetables, and exemplary service, thanks to Lexi, who was remarkable in every way. It is no secret that I am a fan of this restaurant, with its 200+ whiskeys, cuisine that has never been better (thanks to new Chef Andrea), and its location- a lovely oasis in the midst of the Galleria hubbub on the second floor of the Westin Hotel.
If you missed the Easter Brunch (and you really shouldn't have), make reservations now for the Mother's Day Brunch. Highest recommendation!
Went for brunch on Easter. Food was buffet style, but was really good. There was a good selection of items and my family commented on how good everything was. We sat in the overflow room and it was very pretty. I'll definitely go back for lunch while shopping at the Galleria.
We had our whole family meet here for Easter Brunch. What a blast!!! We had a wonderful time. Even our 11 month old daughter had a great time. We will be coming back for sure. GREAT food... great ambiance. Great memories!!!
We had been wanting to try the 2nd Floor for quite a while and decided to go for Easter Sunday Brunch. The place was very crowded, but we did receive a nice table in the back corner. There was a fabulous Buffet set up in the entry hall. Mostly all the dishes were well prepared and tasted Great!! We enjoyed fresh sushi, great salads, the waffle bar with fresh fruit toppings, and the carving stations. The only item that wasn't really edible was the crab Eggs Benedict. I tried them twice, and they were cold both times with under cooked eggs. The desserts were also to die for!! The lemon cake was so fresh, and the cheese cake tasted like real New York cheesecake! We will go back to try the regular menu.
Second time at The Second Floor. Food was again great. Quiet. Will return again.
As I read some of the reviews below, I wonder if we dined at the same restaurant. I have seen The 2nd Floor blossom into one of The Galleria area's finest eateries. New Chef Andrea has firm control of her kitchen, and both the new menu additions and the stalwart favorites are better than ever. In a restaurant which is part of a large hotel, the room and service dynamics can change in an instant, but I have found that the servers are quick to react and provide an optimum customer experience. Personally, I find it hard to cook for myself consistently, so in a restaurant where the diner count can go from ten to fifty in a matter of minutes, adjustments must be a challenge. That being true, the servers are knowledgeable and friendly, and, combined with the aforementioned outstanding cooking, I find The Second Floor to be an anomaly for restaurants located in hotels: great food and attentive service are the standard, which is a great attribute to management and staff.
If you haven't stopped by for Happy Hour lately, you must do so. The burger of the day is an astonishing $3.00 (that's right, three dollars!) and a large side of fries with homemade ketchup is $2.00. Hours are restricted for these great deals, so check the restaurant's website for full details.
Another great plus is FREE Valet Parking when you dine at The 2nd Floor. This makes a meal at The 2nd Floor de rigeur before or after any Galleria shopping experience.
Amazing food combos- great meal from apps to entrees!
We were prepared to pay a lot for the food, but expected better taste and quality of the food. The menu sounded so appetizing, we were excited, but once we tasted the food we were disappointed beyond belief. Not satisfied at all. I knew it was going to be a little more costly and I thought for the description of the food that it would definitely be worth the cost. Nothing was good, except the bread and butter. I will never return. Extremely disappointed.
I really enjoyed the food and ambiance. I will definitely be back.
The ambience and welcome were very warm and genuine and the dining room nicely set although plain. While we were there, there appeared to a staff shortage and the timing of courses seemed to be a bit off. However we were most disappointed about the food. It all sounded good on the pre-fixe menu but execution and portions fell short. Just wasn't up to par and entrees seemed oddly prepared in terms of style, sauces and presentation with a lack of appropriate sides. Also what happened to the great assorted bread that used to be served at The Second Floor? The Second Floor is always so close to great but as of late misses the mark. We still like it but was disappointed on Valentine's Day.
