That's Amore Italian Cafe Ratings and Reviews
The food is amazing and the view can't be beat. I love this neighborhood, what a gem. Suggestions for improvement - the lighting was too bright (they turned it down upon request), put candles on the tables, and train the staff (they seem a little new/not knowledgeable). We will be back!
Excellent double birthday celebratory dinner; free desserts for birthday family members. Carmen was the best server--handled diet restriction issues quite well. Food was excellent!Outdoor seating was quite peaceful with occasional loud traffic. Lots of street parking. Definitely will return again! Just need some hard cider on the beverage menu, ha.
I always love to go to That's Amore! It is an awesome neighborhood restaurant. Stephanie and Carmen are great wait staff. They are always happy to see me and my father on our weekly dinners. I recommend this restaurant to anybody who is looking for an outstanding Italian Meal and a great City View and exceptional service.
That's Amore is the the quintessential "New York City " neighborhood Italian restaurant. The staff remembers who you are, and are friendly but don't (thank the cosmic muffin) get overly friendly and call you "hon" or anything like that. Their wine selection is good enough for the food they serve, but not pages long, which I feel is an asset and not a drawback.
If there is a criticism at all, it is the same as for just about every restaurant we go to these days - the decor is not made to absorb sound, so it gets noisy. Happily, That's Amore does not add to the din with too loud music.
The kind of place we have looked for over a period of years where we can go back again and again, expect to be recognized, and always have a good dinning experience.
Well done, mille grazi!
Food is great and generous amount but just enough to satisfy a meal, not overly filling; will have to return to try other items next time. Ambience is cozy with a great view by the window. It's wonderful that it's located in the neighborhood, not some big shopping area.
Food was amazing! Great view and cute little place to go whether you want to dress up or show up in flip flops and shorts! Wine was fantastic...server was friendly and attentive...stick around for dessert! We had the almond raspberry torte and it did not disappoint. We'll be back soon.
For some reason, the lasagna on this night was dry and hard and it was more salty than usual. The salad was fine. I have eaten at this place many times and usually enjoy the food, but this time, my meal was not so enjoyable.
As for noise level, it is usually noisy when the restaurant is full.
We had a great dinner. It was our first time. My husband, who loves Italian food was really impressed. Our kids and the grandparents loved it too. Very nice employees as well and good view. None of us had visited that area before and have lived here several years.
I've never been let down by my dining experience at That's Amore. Casual but sophisticated; equally perfect for a weeknight dinner in the neighborhood or a special occasion (which it was--my parents' anniversary). I highly recommend the daily specials; the seafood risotto was perfectly textured and exquisite. Don't skip dessert--the tiramisu is moist and light, and easily the best I've had in a long time.
A Neighborhood gem! I am lucky enough to live walking distance to That's Amore - so I sometimes take for granted that not every neighborhood has a friendly, comfortable, delicious and reasonably priced restaurant nearby. This week I took a friend from out of the area - to the "easy spot" in my neighborhood and was once again reminded that That's Amore is a special place that is part of the charm of my Mt Baker area - and it is really "worth the drive".
The portion size is on the small side for the price. The food is very good but the are certainly stingy on the portion. I would strongly advice ordering an appetizer if you are particularly hungry. The wine markup is extreme a $10 dollar bottle of wine is $40 bucks! Otherwise, the food is quality all things considered.
My wife & I came for a Thursday night dinner date. The view and Keylime cheesecake was the only think worthwhile. I ordered lasagna hoping a classic dish would be a safe bet and my wife ordered Fruiti Di Mari with grilled Asparagus. Both lacked anything special mine tasted mainly like tomato paste and her like butter. Honestly, any chain Italian food is better than what we had that night.
I love That's Amore. Great food. Beautiful view. Nice staff. I just keep coming back again and again and again. This trip I made a mistake and only made our reservation for 2...when in fact we had 5. Oops. They didn't miss a beat, just smiled and said, 'no problem, give us a minute.' I watched as they quietly moved around tables and set us up. More restaurants should be like this.
That's Amore is one of our favorite local places and this last visit was as good as ever. The wild boar ragu is a dependable, delicious entree, and my husband enjoyed the special seafood risotto. My parents enjoyed their meals, though I think my dad's penne with sausage was not as good as previous times. On the plus side, they gave him extra anchovies on his caesar, which was a nice touch. The flourless chocolate decadence is a hit-or-miss depending on palates: I love its bitterness with an espresso, while my parents didn't like it much. Overall, it's a great place that I wish was a little less expensive. As it is, we won't go every week but I'm sure we'll be back!
