Thally is one of our new favorite restaurants! My husband and I LOVED our experience there and the food is amazing and all made in-house. Happy hour prices are great and throughout the restaurant, which is nice. I'd especially recommend the Serrano Sour to drink.
Lovely restaurant near our hotel. Service was impeccable. Cozy and quiet. Food was great. Owner stopped by and suggested dessert, even sending us one on the house. Could not have been happier.
Thally - delicious, cozy and unpretentious. The seafood ravioli appetizer and roast chicken with wild rice (entree) were the standouts. Will be back.
I've dined at Thally 5+ times and every time is a treat. The service is great and the management is friendly and welcoming. The cocktails are well done and the cider list is amazing. The food is always interesting and delicious. The vibe is great for a quiet, special meal or time with friends.
I loved the feel of this place. Very cozy with a welcoming neighborhood vibe. Great selection of beers and ciders. Unfortunately, the food was so-so; only slightly better than your average sports bar. I recommend mainly if you're in the neighborhood for a burger and cider.
Meeting with good friends from Annapolis to celebrate a special occasion. Our server was awesome, as was the food and ambience. The limoncello to finish the evening was a lovely surprise. Thally is a favorite go-to around the corner from us... thanks for another nice evening!
We brought our son for his birthday and this place was right up our alleys. Casual, warm and comfortable. The service was awesome except that our nice waiter forgot my soup appetizer. We eventually got it after speaking up and it was on the house. It was also delicious. All the food was great. My husband had the snitzel, my son the duck and I had the fillet. All were wonderfully prepared and really flavorful. We’d definitely go back.
Amazing food and people and will always visit!!
The restaurant space has a great ambiance. The lighting, brick walls and stucco walls make a great atmosphere. The servers are very attentive. Everyone in our party loved the food they ordered. I would definitely recommend it.
Our new fav place
My friend and I went to Thally for dinner before attending a concert at Constitution Hall. The location was great. There was a parking garage right up the street...in walking distance. We had a reservation. As soon as we arrived we were seated. The waitress was great. She was new to working at this restaurant but had no problems with giving us advice and even a sampler of the hush puppies (without us asking).... Which were great by the way. I had the flat iron steak, which came with mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts. The steak was tender and had a great flavor and sauce. The mashed potatoes were good and the Brussel sprouts was grilled to perfection. We tried their homemade rolls. And they get all their food, wine, and cider from local farms/wineries. I also tried one of their desserts I had the bread pudding it was a good portion and it was awesome..... You got to try it out!!!
Great service! Very friendly staff!
Upstairs seating is cozy and quiet enough for conversation, which is a huge plus for me. Thally is a pretty place and I would go again for drinks and dessert if I was in the neighborhood. Excellent chocolate mousse and we also enjoyed the bread pudding ( it's a creative take but good!).
The food was great the Service even better. We had a great time at Thally. I highly recommend this neighborhood place. The chef delivered the food to the table and took the time to chat with us.
i have been to Thally a number of times and this was the worst experience i have had. We had an 8:30 reservation, when we arrived the host said that it was for 8:15 (false) and we would have to wait. We were not seated to 9:15. Once seated, it took some time for someone to take our drink and starter order. I'll stick to bar service only, if there is a next time.
A neighborhood feel here. You don't get rushed in and out. Can get busy at weekends when you will need to book in advance.
Really enjoyed our meal at Thally! Came early and had a whiskey from an extremely well-stocked bar. The bartender recommended a wonderful Rye I can’t find anywhere else. Everyone’s food was delicious. The service was attentive but not hovering. The vibe was offbeat but not off-putting, with noise levels low enough to hold a decent table conversation while still sounding busy. Will definitely be back!
A very ho hum restaurant overall. The food was good, but not great. The best thing we ordered were the tomalitos which were scrumptious. I had the turkey burger, and the fries seemed over cooked while the hamburger was just so so. Not sure if I would go back as there was nothing really notable about the overall experience.
Nice, quiet neighborhood restaurant with wonderful attentive service. Loved that the chef brought out our entrees. The house wine was exceptional. My complaint is that the chef had a very heavy hand with the salt shaker. My companions rated their food average.
Amazing!!! Lee the bartender is phenomenal as a bartender and server. She guided us to the perfect drinks (2 different spicy tequila drinks) and also the butchers cut of the day. The cut was an outstanding pork chop. It was cooked to perfection paired with collard green and grits. What an amazing meal. I can not wait to come back and try other items on the menu.
The service during this visit was exceptional. My friend and myself were overjoyed with the attentiveness, conversation and extras that were provided by the wait staff.
Overall, it was great! Good drinks (loved the touch of grey cocktail!) and good food.
The only thing that kind of annoyed me was I ordered hush puppies, we then received complimentary hush puppies, but they still also gave us my original order without checking. It wasn't super busy, so it just would have been nice if the server had noticed we already ordered them, or asked if we still wanted the original order.
Great spot, and wonderful neighbourhood hangout! Love the ambiance, etc.
Great spot...busy night and service showed. Food was very good and still recommend but they should work on more servers for weekends.
Thally is a must go to if you’re in town visiting, as my wife and I were. The atmosphere was quaint and felt like a local eatery. The food was amazing! Probably the best while we were in town. We had the SXSW as an appetizer and I had the hangar steak. Next time when I visit I will definitely be back.
Happy Hour everyday 5-7:30PM and extensive cider and wine lists! Thumbs up
Popular happy hour at the attractive and comfortable bar, with friends meeting up. A welcoming neighborhood atmosphere. The Chef's daily special creations of Fresh Catch and Butcher Block are innovative and always delicious. I had a lovely dish of perfectly seasoned sliced duck over butternut squash and kale, beautiful presentation. My friend had the shrimp and grits, a restaurant favorite. Service was great, we were well taken care of by Reese!
The drinks were excellent! But, the food portion was on the tiny side.
Nice spot; really great service and exception Cider selection.
Stan, our waiter, was great and accommodation. The food was fantastic, it always is, and the prices were great for such a nice restaurant with so many drink and food choices.
Really enjoyed the food and ambiance! Also they were able to make a great recommendation on a bottle of cider.
I had a wonderful man who served us and was both kind and entertaining. The food was excellent and reasonably priced. It is a cozy restaurant with a limited delicious menu. Our geoup enjoyed shrimp and grits, a pork schneitzel and roasted chicken. All yummy!
Both my friend and I were sick overnight after eating at Thally. We had vegetarian meals and they all tasted a bit off so we definitely did not clean the plates. The wine was so-so. Our server was attentive but with so many options in DC, I could not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Delicious interesting food, very helpful friendly staff, nice ambiance, not noisy. We will return.
Loved everything about it. The waiter was very well informed about even the many beers on the menu. It's a casual and attractively appointed room. My pork schnitzel was succulent and a hearty portion with a good bunch of arugula on top. A typical bargain for $19. How nice to find a restaurant where two can have dinner for under $100. This was a Sunday night and happy hour prices ($4 for draught beer) were in effect until 7:30. I'm definitely going to return.
Great food and drinks with a hip and warm ambiance. Very solid date night or special occasion place.
Decent service but steak and schnitzel over cooked and flavorless.
Had an excellent Restaurant Week meal with the boyfriend. All three courses were great proportions and quite tasty. Only complaint is I think I got charged for a more expensive bottle of wine than I asked for and the wine was just okay. Good for a casual date night that's not too pricey.
The menu was a little limited for my palate and somewhat uninspiring. I ended up eating more bread as a result.
Drinks were good and the server was terrific.
Service was terrible, food was fine.
