Since Valentine's Day of 1990, the Thai Chef has been bringing healthy, fresh and tasty Thai food to the Dupont Circle neighborhood. Our main dining room and its mezzanine section offer an exciting and vibrant atmosphere. Our third floor dining room, with its warm and cozy ambiance, is often used for private parties, office meetings and large group reservations.In summer 2003; a dynamic sushi bar was introduced to the restaurant. Our valuable customers can now enjoy fresh seafood from the sushi bar, as well as delicious items from our original Thai cuisine menu. We hope that our fresh look, combined with exotic dishes served by our friendly and attentive staff, create a remarkable dining experience for you. Please come visit us often at Thai Chef.

I wanted to like the place. The food was decent but nothing out of this world. We ask for a tonic with lime and they said they can't serve it though they do serve gin and tonics. Service was acceptable. When I received the check I was asked to pay cash. They said the machine runs slow when it rains. I didn't have the cash so gave a card. They came back pretty quickly so I don't know. Overall for thai/sushi I thought it ran on the expensive side. I'm from the NY area so I wasn't expecting it to be cheap but I was surprised. I would consider getting pad thai to go but not a sit down meal again.

The food was good and there was a nice variety. Everything tasted fresh and well prepared. Service was a bit inattentive except for keeping drinks topped off. The venue was a little noisy for such a small space. Overall, not a bad dining option; I'd return again sometime.

When I researched this place, the place seemed to be bigger in pictures but once I got there it definitely was small and you were right on top of the people/couple next to you. There really wasn't any real personal space for a date. I wouldn't recommend this place for a date night but more so friends hanging out.

Best spicy basil eggplant I've ever had. Good portion size- not too big, not too small. Excellent spice level. Would definitely go back.
