Texas Ratings and Reviews
We went on valentine's day for our 21st anniversary. It was very crowded but the staff was great. Jo Lee (I think it is correct) was absolutely wonderful. We were very gratefull she was out waitress. She was was personable, funny, and on point with our order and needs. She made our evening very pleasant.
This was my third time going Texas and was very disappointed. My wife plate was fine but the wait after having a reservation wasn't to bad, 15 minutes it was very busy night so I was ok with that. I was not ok with the fact that the food took 36 minutes on a limited menu and then my steak was rare, very. The waiter took it back and the chef brought it back after he had put the whole plate in the oven! I burned my damn hand! The people are really nice but I'm on the fence about ever coming back or bringing my clients there.
We went here on Valentines day. I requested a booth, but we were seated in a back room away from the music and the ambiance. I understand they were busy, but I was disappointed in our seating. I was also not told it would be a set menu. I was looking forward to some options I saw on online menu. However, the steaks we ordered were very good! The server was good , except I had to go locate salt and pepper on my own. I chose Quiet on the noise level because of where we outcast to.
My husband had 1/2 rack of ribs and his words were “these are the best I’ve ever tasted!” I had the filet medallions and was just slightly disappointed (I have had better for less expense). We will definitely return!! The owner walked by and greeted us. Very friendly staff and loved the upstairs dining!
Shelby is a great host and we met Dale Wamstadt (Owner). The service is great and the ambiance is just as good. Bought my parents a gift certificate for their anniversary. Even though they were out of the sea bass, the redfish and Delmonico steak and sides made u for it. Going to make this a regular place from now on! ~ Kevin
Not only is the food great so is the people who own and manage the restaurant. Dale and Shelby made sure what we ordered was good and exactly what we had ordered. I have a garlic and black pepper allergy and someone had put a light dusting of black pepper on my salad. She noticed and took it immediately back to the kitchen herself and then delivered it to me. WOW! What personal service! They really care that we have a good time.
From start to finish, the experience was warm and home-like! Everyone was wearing vests, boots, and bolo ties!! We loved hearing that the establishment was the brainchild of an experienced restaurateur who worked on places like III Forks and Silver Fox. Everything from the Texas Honey Glaze drizzled over The West Texas Mixed Greens to the bite-size Fried Quail Leg morsels were delicious. The Crabcake Croustades were perfectly portioned and sauced like single-serving mouthful Hors D’oeuvres. The entrees were served on hot plates: a Filet Mignon, a New York Strip and, The Signature, Delmonico Steak were seared and grilled to perfection! The Delmonico is a must try. Our hostess, Denise, was a pleasure, and had made us feel at home, welcome, and engaged with energy and good vibes.
We had a wonderful night at Texas. The steak was one of the best I've ever had (and I've had many) and the apple pie was phenomenal. Great service and there was even a magician who came to the table- he was incredible and just a perfect end to a great dining experience
We had a 7:00 reservation but did not get seated until around 7:40. We were about 5 minutes late. It was Friday night and they were very busy. Our waitress (Joelle I think) was very very good and the food was amazing, maybe the best filet I have ever had.
We did have one issue during our meal...We ordered 2 salads which were delivered to the wrong table. No problem, mistakes happen. After the salads had sat in front of these people for approximately 10 minutes they notified a manager who was walking by, that they did not order these salads, and that they should have been delivered to our table. The manager apologized to them and proceeds to give us the salads, telling us "they did not touch them, they are ok". We did not know these people. They probably didn't touch the salads, but they had breathed on them for 10 minutes and with the flu going around I did not feel he should have tried to serve us these salads. We politely asked him for new salads. He apologized and said he would go make us new salads. We were seated on the upper level of the restaurant next to the railing and had a perfect view directly into the kitchen. We watched him take the salads into the kitchen and hand them to a kitchen worker and tell her something. We watched as she took both salads and put them onto new plates. She handed them back to the manager and he brought them right back to us. When he brought them back we called him out on it. He was very apologetic (because he got caught) and went back to the kitchen and had new salads made. We watched the worker dump them into the trash this time. I was very surprised a manager of a restaurant would do something like this, especially a restaurant of this ilk. I think it shows a lack of training. When we told the waitress what happened, she was mortified. He was great the rest of the night. He sent the magician over to our table, which my kids loved, and bought us dessert. Again, the food was amazing and we will be back.
We love TEXAS. This wasn’t our best trip. They were busier than I have ever seen which was great for them. They handled it great. Except they ran out of my favorite the Ribs. I had to get something else for once. It was great. I guess I should try new things sometimes. Shelby knows how to make me happy and sent me home with a few of their amazing cookies. We love Texas and we will be back. Hopefully they have more Ribs then...
Ate at Texas two times on this trip to Dallas. Have eaten there before when in Dallas. The food is always superb - great steaks done just right every time. The staff works as a team so is always on top of any needs, friendly, personable, attentive but not intrusive. The "feel" of Texas is special - interesting design appeal, very nice background music (but not so loud as to affect table conversation), a warm fireplace burning at one end and another outside on the covered deck. The furthest thing from a chain restaurant I can imagine (in a good way) - the owner and his family and staff consider guests their friends and circulate to make sure everyone feels personally welcomed and that the food and service are perfect. They go out of their way to make sure anniversaries and birthdays are special. Good variety on the menu but I confess I have difficulty not ordering the New York pepper steak every time.
We enjoyed our first experience at TEXAS. They were packed with happy customers ready to enjoy a great meal. Warning: DON’ T CUT THE BREAD... break it!! It’s the enjoyment of breaking bread with friends. Never mind the crumbs. Excellent food, service, entertainment, hospitality and atmosphere. Not the place to bring unruly, running kids or crying babies. Get a babysitter and enjoy yourselves.
